INTRODUCTION: Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Current Australian clinical guidelines recommend all patients with ACS receive comprehensive secondary prevention services to address this burden. Optimal patient outcomes rely on the timely and effective implementation of proven therapies and for secondary prevention to be successful, pharmacological interventions must be combined with cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factor identification and management. The ability to implement clinical guidelines is also reliant on available resources, yet m

PURPOSE: There is controversy regarding the optimal treatment for lateral elbow tendinopathy (LET), and not all available treatment options have been compared directly with placebo/control. A network meta-analysis was conducted to compare the effectiveness of different LET treatments directly and indirectly against control/placebo based on a validated outcome, the Patient-Rated Tennis Elbow Evaluation (PRTEE) pain score.
METHODS: Randomized, controlled trials comparing different treatment methods for LET were included, provided they reported outcome data using the PRTEE pain score. A network

BACKGROUND: Lateral and medial elbow tendinopathies are common soft tissue disorders affecting 1-3% of the general population, causing significant pain and functional impairment in the elbow and upper limb. While often associated with overuse and repetitive strain, their exact etiology, including potential associations with prior injuries in adjacent joints, remains unclear. This preliminary study aims to explore the distribution of lateral and medial elbow tendinopathies and investigate the occurrence of previous lesions in adjacent joints among diagnosed individuals, providing foundational i

PURPOSE: To determine the efficacy of treatment of lateral elbow tendinopathy (LET) with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection and ultrasonic tenotomy and debridement (USTD) as well as risk factors for treatment failure.
METHODS: This was a retrospective study including patients treated for LET with PRP or USTD between January 2018 and December 2021. The efficacy of both procedures was assessed using pain-related patient-reported outcome measures at the 12-week follow-up. Baseline subject characteristics and diagnostic ultrasound findings were analyzed as risk factors for failure of treatment.

BACKGROUND: Lateral epicondylitis is one of the most common upper extremity problems presented to orthopedic surgeons. Despite a rapid and accurate arrival at a diagnosis by clinical examination, there exists no consensus classification for this condition, which hampers clinical approaches for treatment of the disease based on its severity. Thus, the aim of this study was to propose and valiadate a new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) classification of lateral epicondylitis, staging by tendinosis, the degree of thickness tears of the common extensor tendon (CET) and bone bruise lesion.

Forearm orthoses are commonly used and are known to improve motor performance in the management of lateral elbow tendinopathy; however, their specific impact on sensory function remains less clear. Sensorimotor function encompasses the integrated process of sensory perception and motor response. This study was to investigate the immediate effect of forearm clasping orthoses with a textured pad on sensorimotor arm function in people with lateral elbow tendinopathy. In a randomized crossover design, 56 individuals with lateral elbow tendinopathy underwent four testing conditions: no orthosis, pl

Lateral elbow tendinopathy (LET) is characterized by pain, poor muscle strength of the wrist ex-tensors, and disability. Among the conservative rehabilitative approaches, focal as well as radial extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), are considered effective in LET management. The objective of this study was to compare the safety and effectiveness of focal (fESWT) and radial (rESWT) in terms of LET symptoms and the strength of wrist extensors, taking into account potential gender differences. This is a retrospective longitudinal cohort study of patients with LET treated with ESWT that had r
