OBJECTIVE: This study was carried out to compare the clinical outcome of elective single cleavage-embryo transfer (eSCET) to that of elective single blastocyst-embryo transfer (eSBET) in human IVF-ET.
METHODS: This study was a retrospective study which analyzed for 614 women who visited the Daegu Maria Clinic from August 2008 to December 2009. All were under 37 years old and had more than 8 mm of endometrial thickness on the day of hCG administration and at least one good quality embryo on day 3. The eSCETs were performed on day 3 (n=450) and the eSBETs were conducted on day 5 (n=164).

The aim of this observational prospective study was to compare multiple embryological and pregnancy outcomes for vitrified oocytes against the same outcomes using vitrified embryos in patients at risk for ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Ninety-six patients were included and allocated to vitrification of oocytes (Group 1) or embryos (Group 2). No statistical differences in baseline characteristics between groups were detected. Implantation rate was 30.6% versus 33.1%, and clinical pregnancy rate was 41.9% versus 7.1% in groups 1 and 2, respectively. A higher clinical spontaneous abortion rat

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of transferring a single top quality embryo in the first IVF/ICSI cycle of patients <38 years old who chose to have one or two embryos transferred.
METHODS: A total of 262 patients participated in the study, and 243 transfers were performed: 156 (64%) patients chose the transfer of a single top quality embryo, if available, and two non-top quality embryos if not available; 87 (36%) patients chose to have a double embryo transfer regardless of embryo quality.
RESULTS: In the first group an ongoing pregnancy rate of 40% (63/156) with

A frequent finding after preimplantation genetic diagnostic testing for aneuploidies using next-generation sequencing is an embryo that is putatively mosaic. The prevalence of this outcome remains unclear and varies with technical and external factors. Mosaic embryos can be classified by the percentage of cells affected, type of chromosome involvement (whole or segmental), number of affected chromosomes or affected cell type (inner mass cell, trophectoderm or both). The origin of mosaicism seems to be intrinsic as a post-zygotic mitotic error, but some external factors can play a role. As expe

The objective of this retrospective cohort study was to evaluate whether air quality index (AQI) on the day of embryo transfer (ET) is associated with differences in clinical pregnancy rates (CPR). The study included all patients who underwent either fresh or frozen embryo transfer between June 1 - July 31, 2023 at a single academic fertility centre in New York. During this time, smoke originating from wildfires in Eastern Canada caused significant air pollution in New York. Patients who underwent single euploid embryo transfer were included and analysed separately. The main outcome measure wa

FET is to resuscitate the endometrium and transfer the embryo into the uterus after the endometrium is ready. The quality of transferred embryos is an important factor affecting the outcome of assisted reproductive technology. This paper aims to explore the feasibility of D4 frozen-thaw embryo transfer and analysis of related factors affecting the outcome of freeze-thaw embryo transfer. A retrospective analysis of the clinical data of 2925 patients who received frozen-thaw embryo transfer (FET) in the Department of Reproductive Medicine, General Hospital of Northern Theater Command from Januar

INTRODUCTION: Because of increased morbidity seen in multiple gestations, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine recommends transfer of blastocysts one at a time for most patients. While cost-effectiveness models have compared single embryo transfer (SET) versus double embryo transfer (DET), few incorporate maternal and neonatal morbidity, and none have been performed in U.S. Military facilities. The purpose of this study was to determine the cost effectiveness of sequential SET versus DET in a U.S. Military treatment facility.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cost-effectiveness model was crea

OBJECTIVE: The probability of embryo implantation in an abnormal location is significantly higher in assisted reproductive technology (ART) than in natural pregnancies. Angular pregnancy is an eccentric intrauterine pregnancy with embryo implantation in the lateral superior angle of the uterine cavity. Cycle-level factors associated with angular pregnancy in patients conceived with ART needed to be explored.
METHODS: A total of 11 336 clinical pregnancies cycles were included. Angular pregnancy rate was compared among groups according to the type of embryos transferred. Among them, 53 cases o

OBJECTIVES: The limited data regarding obstetrical outcomes in multiple pregnancies following both fresh embryo transfer and frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET), along with the association between multiple pregnancies and increased pregnancy complications compared to singleton pregnancies, highlight the need for research on this topic. Therefore, this study aimed to compare obstetrical and neonatal outcomes of twin pregnancies after fresh embryo transfer versus FET.
DESIGN: This was a retrospective single-center study.
PARTICIPANTS: There were in vitro fertilization (IVF) dichorionic twin pr

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the location of transferred embryos under various parameters during embryo transfer in in vitro fertilization (IVF) by applying an in vitro experimental model for embryo transfer (ET).
METHODS: Mock ET simulations were conducted with a laboratory model of the uterine cavity. The transfer catheter was loaded with a sequence of air and liquid volumes, including development-arrested embryos donated by patients. The transfer procedure was recorded using a digital video camera. An orthogonal design, including three independent variables (uterine orientation, distance of the

OBJECTIVE: To explore whether post-embryo transfer (ET) air travel affects in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes, addressing the growing concern in medical tourism where patients frequently travel for fertility treatments.
METHODS: This retrospective study was conducted at a private fertility clinic in São Paulo, Brazil, and included 2,135 embryo transfers performed between January 2019 and March 2022. Patients were divided into two groups: individuals who presumably traveled by airplane after ET (Group 2) and those who did not (Group 1). Data were analyzed for demographics, embryo transfer c

BACKGROUND: Among subfertile couples undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART), pregnancy rates following frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) treatment cycles have historically been found to be lower than following embryo transfer undertaken two to five days following oocyte retrieval. Nevertheless, FET increases the cumulative pregnancy rate, reduces cost, is relatively simple to undertake and can be accomplished in a shorter time period than repeated in vitro fertilisation (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycles with fresh embryo transfer. FET is performed using diffe

STUDY QUESTION: How long is the individualized training and the stability of competence for the embryo transfer (ET) technique?
SUMMARY ANSWER: The embryo transfer technique is easy-to-learn, hardly unlearned, and training should be individualized by monitoring with learning curve-cumulative summation (LC-CUSUM) curves.
WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY: Like many medical procedures, embryo transfer is an operator-dependent technique. Individualized or standardized training of these medical procedures should be monitored to determine when competence is acquired.
STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION: This prosp

BACKGROUND: Embryo transfer (ET) is the final and most vulnerable step in in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment. Pregnancy rates after ET may be influenced by several factors including cervical preparation, the performance of a dummy or mock transfer, the choice of catheter, the use of ultrasound guidance, removing the mucus or blood on the catheter, and straightening of the utero-cervical angle. Recent research has focused on improving the embryo transfer technique in the hope of increasing the success rates of IVF. This review focused on preparation techniques as it is unclear whether these

BACKGROUND: Embryo transfer is a crucial step in IVF-embryo transfer cycles. Several studies have explored transmyometrial embryo transfer, but although this procedure has several favourable characteristics, its role in assisted reproduction has not yet been established. Junctional zone (JZ) contractions during embryo transfer are associated with a negative outcome and factors which increase JZ contractions should be avoided.
METHODS: In this study, we have investigated the effect of transmyometrial embryo transfer on JZ contractions. Ten patients with a previously difficult embryo transfer,
