Evaluation of the therapeutic results of actinic keratosis treated with topical 5% fluorouracil by reflectance confocal laser microscopy: preliminary study.

Topical treatment for actinic keratosis with 5% fluorouracil has a recurrence rate of 54% in 12 months of follow-up. This study analyzed thirteen actinic keratoses on the upper limbs through confocal microscopy, at the time of clinical diagnosis and after 4 weeks of treatment with fluorouracil. After the treatment was established and evidence of clinical cure was achieved, in two of the nine actinic keratoses, confocal microscopy enabled visualization of focal areas of atypical honeycomb pattern in the epidermis indicating therapeutic failure. Preliminary data suggest the use of confocal micro

A Single-Arm, Open-Label, Phase IV Study to Evaluate the Efficacy of a Topical Formulation for Hyperkeratotic Actinic Keratosis Lesions.

INTRODUCTION: Actinic keratosis (AKs) are epidermal lesions that commonly occur in skin exposed to chronic cumulative UV irradiation. Untreated AK lesions can advance to squamous cell carcinoma. Current treatments of AK have many shortcomings; for instance, not all treatments can be used for the hyperkeratotic form of AK. The aim of this study was to test the efficacy and tolerability of a topical product containing 2,4,6-octatrienoic acid and urea for the treatment of hyperkeratotic AK lesions. METHODS: Forty male and female subjects with at least two hyperkeratotic AK lesions were enrolled

New Insight for Enhanced Topical Targeting of Caffeine for Effective Cellulite Treatment: In Vitro Characterization, Permeation Studies, and Histological Evaluation in Rats.

Cellulite (CLT) is one of the commonly known lipodystrophy syndromes affecting post-adolescent women worldwide. It is topographically characterized by an orange-peel, dimpled skin appearance hence, it is an unacceptable cosmetic problem. CLT can be modulated by surgical procedures such as; liposuction and mesotherapy. But, these options are invasive, expensive and risky. For these reasons, topical CLT treatments are more preferred. Caffeine (CA), is a natural alkaloid that is well-known for its prominent anti-cellulite effects. However, its hydrophilicity hinders its cutaneous permeation. Ther
