The rise of artificial intelligence has ushered in a wave of interest and research on its potential applications in ophthalmology, including oculoplastic surgery. This review summarizes current efforts to incorporate artificial intelligence in the management of various oculoplastic conditions, including eyelid neoplasms, blepharoptosis, thyroid eye disease, orbital fractures, orbital lesions, nasolacrimal duct obstruction, as well as patient education and counseling.

BACKGROUND: Acquired neoplasms arising from the nonpigmented ciliary epithelium (NPCE) are much less common than uveal melanocytic proliferations. We report two cases of acquired neoplasms arising from the NPCE with immunohistochemical findings.

The uvea provides a suitable substrate for tumor cells because it is the most vascular portion of the eye. Most primary and metastatic ocular neoplasms involve the choroid, with the most common being malignant melanoma. We review the features of uveal melanomas seen on MRI and CT images and evaluate certain neoplastic and non-neoplastic intraocular lesions that may simulate uveal melanomas.

Xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), is a rare, autosomal recessive disease with sun sensitivity and multiple neoplasms in association with reduced DNA repair. Dermatoscopy (dermoscopy) improves the diagnosis of benign and malignant cutaneous neoplasms in comparison with examination with the unaided eye and should be used routinely for all pigmented and non-pigmented cutaneous neoplasms. PURPOSE: To report a Serratia marcescens infection that clinically simulated a conjunctival neoplasm.
METHOD: Case report.
RESULTS: A healthy 80-year-old man without contact lenses presented with a pink-yellow conjunctival mass that resembled a solid neoplasm.
