BACKGROUND: Field-based contact sports, including American football and rugby are among those with the highest sport-related concussion (SRC) rates. Regarding SRC treatment, gradual return-to-play (RTP) protocols are commonly used, however variability in RTP protocols between sporting bodies and scholastic institutions makes accurately interpreting published SRC severity data difficult.
AIMS: Compare SRC recovery times, RTP protocols, and mandated sit-out period duration among adult amateur contact field sports.

Allergic rhinoconjunctivitis (AR/C), has been shown to impact upon athletic performance. The championships of the unique, amateur Irish sports of hurling and Gaelic football (collectively known as GAA) take place during the prime pollen months of summer. Elite GAA players must perform optimally when most exposed to pollen. Elite GAA subjects (n=254) underwent skin prick testing to 6 aeroallergens and completed a validated questionnaire (AQUA), producing a score indicating likelihood of having allergy. The prevalence of allergy (positive to at least one aeroallergen on SPT and positive AQUA sco

INTRODUCTION: Core stability is essential for maintaining postural alignment and preventing injuries during athletic activities. A growing body of literature suggests that structured core stability programs can reduce the risk of both upper and lower limb injuries across various sports. However, the evidence remains scattered and inconsistent, particularly regarding specific populations and sports contexts.
EVIDENCE ACQUISITION: This scoping review was conducted following the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology and reported according to the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. A comprehensive literat

Nasal bone fractures that require reduction are a common sequela of sports injuries. We conducted a survey to ascertain the outcomes of patients who had experienced a nasal bone fracture and who subsequently underwent manipulation under anesthesia. We reviewed data on 217 nasal bone fractures that had been seen at our institution over a 3-year period. Of these, 133 (61.3%) had occurred as a result of a sports activity. Thirty of the 133 patients (22.6%) had been managed conservatively, while the other 103 (77.4%) had undergone manipulation under anesthesia. We were able to contact 87 of the 10

Ischaemic preconditioning (IPC) is reported to improve performance, fatigue and recovery, yet evidence in team-sport settings remains limited. We examined the effects of repeated IPC on external workload, perceptual strain and recovery during ecologically valid Gaelic football training. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover design, 13 male players completed two identical pitch sessions following IPC (3 × 5 min 220 mmHg occlusions; 48 h, 24 h and 30 min pre-session) or placebo. Global positioning system-quantified external load, and perceptual outcomes (fatigue, soreness,
