[Experimental and clinical study on gastroesophagostomy after cardiectomy of gastric stump].

60 hybrid dogs, divided into 2 groups, were subjected to subtotal gastrectomy in B-I and B-II pattern respectively. 20 weeks later, resection of cardia and fundus ventriculi and the gastric remnant esophagus anastomosis was performed. There were more omentum blood vessel embedments about the gastrojejunostomic and gastroduodenostomic stoma and collateral circulation was plentiful. In 1980, there were 25 patients with cardiac cancer of the gastric stump with an average period of 13 years and 3 months following subtotal gastrectomy and a mean age of 59.1 years. 19 patients were subjected to expl

Lymphoma of the gastric stump. Report of two cases and review of the literature.

We report two cases of primary malignant lymphoma developing in a gastric stump. The tumor was discovered 17 and 43 years, respectively, after partial gastrectomy for duodenal ulcer. Both tumors were B-cell mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphomas, one of high-grade malignancy (large cell type) and one of low-grade malignancy (small cell type). Only 13 cases of primary malignant lymphoma of the gastric stump have been reported previously. Such a low frequency makes a causal relationship between partial gastrectomy for benign lesion and the development of malignant lymphoma unlikely. However

[Surgical treatment for carcinoma of gastric stump--a report on 13 patients].

Thirteen patients with carcinoma of gastric cardia after gastrectomy were treated in our hospital from 1981 to 1990. They comprised 1.3% of 932 cancers of the gastric cardia treated during the same interval. Partial esophagogastrectomy and esophagogastrectomy were performed under the aortic arch in 2 patients. Total gastrectomy was carried out in 8 patients with 7 Roux-Y and 1 end-to-side esophagojejunostomy. In the remaining 3 patients, only exploration was done. In the resected patients, two (20%) were complicated by anastomotic leak which was obviously higher than that by the conventional p

Considerations on risk factors correlated to the occurrence of gastric stump cancer.

Gastric stump cancer (GSC) is the malignant tumor that develops in the gastric remnant after partial gastrectomy was performed both for benign and malignant lesions. This paper presents the results of the case studies from the scientific literature, which focused on GSC, and has been published in the last 10 years. The search was performed with the help of the specific tools offered by the international databases. The subject was approached because of the constant rising incidence of GSC in the past few years, now reaching values between 1% and 7%. The outcome report is consistent and similar

Metastatic pattern of lymph node and surgery for gastric stump cancer.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Metastatic pattern of lymph node (LN) and surgery options for gastric stump cancer (GSC) remain controversial. The aim of this study was to investigate LN metastasis and lymphadenectomy for GSC for curative purposes. METHODS: Sixty-seven patients with GSC were analyzed retrospectively. RESULTS: The metastatic rates of LN were as follows: 63.3% in right cardia (No. 1), 33.3% in left cardia (No. 2), 75.0% in lesser curvature (No. 3), 53.3% in greater curvature (No. 4), 40.0% in celiac artery (No. 9), 60.0% in splenic hilus (No. 10), 72.7% in splenic artery (No. 11),

[The function of gastric stump and duodenum after proximal gastric resection in patients with esophageal and gastric varicose veins dilatation].

The authors had developed the technique of proximal gastric resection with cardiac orifice plasty. 21 patients with esophageal and varicose veins dilatation were operated on using the technique. Follow-up period came from 2 to 23 years. Results of the operation allow proximal gastric resection with cardiac orifice plasty to be considered the effective way of prevention and treatment of gastric bleedings of portal hypertension aetiology.

Gastric Stump Cancer Following Gastrectomy After Renal Transplantation: A Case Report.

A patient who had previously undergone a gastrectomy due to gastric ulcer perforation was admitted to our hospital. He presented with epigastric pain and poor oral intake accompanied with gastrointestinal bleeding, and was diagnosed with gastric stump cancer. He had a history of renal transplantation and was administered immunosuppressive agents. To alleviate the obstructive symptom and cure the gastrointestinal bleeding, the patient underwent surgical resection of the malignant tumor, with stable kidney function during the perioperative period. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first

[Indocyanine green angiography of gastric stump in primary and secondary bariatric surgeries].

OBJECTIVE: To study and compare tissue perfusion as measured by ICG angiography in bariatric patients during primary and revision surgeries. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was conducted, comprising an analysis of medical histories and videotaped surgical procedures performed on 112 patients. The patients were divided into two groups for the purposes of analysis. Group 1 (69 cases, 61.6%) comprised patients who had undergone a primary one-anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB) and a primary Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB). Group 2 (43 cases, 38.4%) consisted of patients who had

Clinical impact of splenic hilar dissection with splenectomy for gastric stump cancer.

BACKGROUND: Splenectomy for advanced gastric stump cancer (GSC) is performed in Japan, based on the concept that lymphatic flow toward the splenic hilum is dominant following initial gastrectomy. However, little has been reported on the therapeutic impact of complete splenic hilar dissection with splenectomy. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A total of 184 patients who underwent R0 total gastrectomy with or without splenectomy for GSC between 1998 and 2015 were included in this retrospective analysis. Patients were divided into subgroups: patients with tumors involving the greater curvature (Gre group)

[Endoscopic and histological changes in the mucosa of the gastric stump in Helicobacter pylori infection].

Under investigation there were 50 patients with resected stomach at different terms after operations: 37 patients after subtotal resection of the stomach for cancer and 13 patients after resection of 2/3 of the stomach for ulcer disease. The overwhelming majority of the patients with the resected stomach had chronic gastritis of the stump diagnosed endoscopically and histologically. No reliable difference of the endoscopic and histological indices of the state of the gastric stump mucosa was found in relation to the disease which was the cause of resection and to the time since the operation.

[Cancer of the gastric stump. An independent disease picture? Consequences for follow-up].

In a retrospective study we analysed the clinical course of 13 patients from the St Clara's Hospital who had a gastric-stump cancer between the years of 1975 and 1989 and compared our figures with the literature. Our figures showed the average age of the patient at their first operation for the gastric ulcer was 35 and, at the second operation for gastric cancer the average age was 68.8 patients were male and 5 were female. When the tumour was discovered it was already advanced. 11 patients had a Grade 3 or 4 tumour. Out of our 13 patients, 7 had to undergo a total removal of the gastric remna

[Prevention of suture dehiscence of the duodenal stump in gastric resection for pyloroduodenal ulcers].

Based on the surgical treatment of 606 patients with complicated pyloroduodenal ulcers the authors give recommendations on prophylactics of incompetent sutures of the duodenum. These measures allowed to reduce the lethality 6 times as compared with the previous 10 years. Drainage of the abdominal cavity with the "difficult-for-suturing" stump helps to avoid relaparotomy if there appeared incompetence of sutures of the duodenum stump. Stomach resection after Billroth I is one of the methods to prevent incompetent sutures of the "difficult-for-suturing" stump.

[A clinicopathological study on carcinoma of the gastric stump, with special reference to mucosal change].

Ten carcinomas of the gastric stump reconstructed by Billroth I (one case) and Billroth II (9 cases) methods were treated an average of 20 (range: 7-46) years after partial gastrectomy. Because of highly advanced carcinoma, total gastrectomy with resection of invaded organs was performed. The 5-year survival rate was 33%, and was not different from that in patients with carcinoma of the cardia. Thus, the prognosis of gastric stump carcinoma was not poor if extended radical operation was carried out. The mucosa showed severe atrophic gastritis with intestinal metaplasia or atrophic and hypertro
