Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a tick-borne virus endemic to a vast geographical area spanning from Africa to the shores of the Mediterranean Sea and north to the Balkans. The infection carries a high case fatality rate, which prompts the development of new treatment and prophylactic measures. This review explores the different treatment and prophylactic measures found in recent literature. For this purpose, we used Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) as well as PubMed advanced search. The inclusion criteria included full-text studies conducted on humans and in the English language. We

Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV) is a widely distributed hemorrhagic fever virus and the cause of hemorrhagic disease in Africa, Southern and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, India and Asia. Recent emergence of CCHFV into Spain indicates that the geographic range of this virus is expanding and the presence of its tick vector in several countries without reported disease suggest that CCHFV will continue to spread. Research into CCHFV was historically limited by a lack of suitable animal models and tools to study viral pathogenesis. However, in the past few years the toolset for stu

Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a viral, tick-borne disease that can be fatal, especially in the adult patient population. CCHF involves multiple organ systems. Pericardial effusion, cardiac hypokinesia, T-wave changes, bundle branch block, and myocardial involvement can be seen as a cardiac complication of CCHF. Several different viruses like Coxsackie A/B and adenovirus may cause myocarditis and cardiomyopathy, but myocardial involvement of CCHF in children was rarely reported. We report a 13-year-old boy patient with myocarditis during the course of CCHF who has completely resolve

OBJECTIVES: Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) has been endemic in Turkey since 2002. Some radiologic findings are considered common by clinicians and radiologists. In this regard, we aimed to assess the sonographic findings in patents with CCHF in a pilot study to obtain basic knowledge for planning further controlled studies.
METHODS: An observational descriptive study was planned. Patients with a CCHF diagnosis monitored by the infectious diseases department of a tertiary care hospital were included. Sonographic examinations were conducted by 2 radiologists for each patient, and the fi

Brucellosis is a zoonotic disease caused by Brucella spp. that is transmitted to humans by the ingestion of unpasteurized milk and other dairy products from infected animals or through close contact with secretions. Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a tick-borne disease caused by a virus that is transmitted to humans by ixoid tick bites, contact with blood and tissue of infected animals or contact with infected humans. The symptoms of brucellosis are non-specific; it can mimic other diseases. In this paper, we present a case of brucellosis that was initially evaluated as CCHF. We empha

INTRODUCTION: Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a zoonotic viral disease with a high mortality rate. In clinical practice, we observed bradycardia in some pediatric patients with CCHF during the clinical course. So we aimed to report CCHF cases that presented bradycardia during the clinical course and the relation of bradycardia with the clinical findings and ribavirin therapy.
METHODS: Charts of all hospitalized pediatric CCHF patients were reviewed with respect to age, sex, history of tick bite or history of removing a tick, other risk factors for CCHF transmission, and interval bet

Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a fatal viral infection described in Asia, Africa and Europe. Humans become infected through the bites of ticks, by contact with a patient with CCHF during the acute phase of infection, or by contact with blood or tissues from viremic livestock. The occurrence of CCHF closely approximates the known world distribution of Hyalomma spp. ticks. The novel studies of phylogenetic analyses reveal the interesting relations between the strains from distant outbreaks. The clinical features show common dramatic progress characterized by hemorrhage, myalgia, and f

The epidemiology of Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV) and Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV) in Jordan is unknown. Our investigation showed 3% of 989 tested dairy cattle, sheep, and goats were RVFV seropositive and 14% were CCHFV seropositive. Ongoing surveillance is needed to assess risk to humans and protect public health.

Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a tick-borne viral hemorrhagic fever caused by Nairovirus and characterized by fever, myalgia, arthralgia, and hemorrhagic manifestations. Severe bradycardia is a rare complication of the disease. We present a 30-year-old male patient with CCHF who developed severe bradycardia, which was successfully treated with intravenous and oral theophylline. This case highlights the need to recognize cardiac complications in CCHF and highlights the role of pharmacological interventions in improving patient outcomes.

The dangerous Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV), an encapsulated negative-sense RNA virus of the family Nairoviridae, is transmitted from person to person via ticks. With a case fatality rate between 10% to 40%, the most common ways that the disease may spread to humans are via tick bites or coming into touch with infected animals' blood or tissues. Furthermore, the transfer of bodily fluids between individuals is another potential route of infection. There is a wide range of symptoms experienced by patients throughout each stage, from myalgia and fever to extreme bruising and exce

BACKGROUND: CCHFV is well recognized as a major public health threat and its prevalence and epidemiological distribution in Pakistan and specifically in KP province is not well documented.
METHODS: We used a gold-standard PCR-based diagnostic assay for confirmation of CCHFV among suspected patients. A total of 150 patients were enrolled from June 2022 to September 2022 and their blood samples were collected for PCR confirmation.
RESULTS: The overall positivity rate for CCHFV was 26.67 %, with the virus mostly prevalent in the middle-aged group (21-40 years). In the July of 2022, a significan

In this report, we present new data on the diversity and geographical distribution of genetic variants in Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV) in Russia. Partial S, M, and L segment sequences of the CCHFV genome were obtained from 500 serum samples from CCHF patients and 103 pools of ticks collected in the south of the European region of Russia in 2007-2017. The investigated viral strains belonged to the lineages Europe 1 (596 samples), Africa 3 (1 sample) and a new genetic lineage, Europe 3 (6 samples). The Russian CCHFV strains of the Europe 1 lineage formed four subgroups (Va-Vd) c

The Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV) is the etiological agent of a severe hemorrhagic fever affecting Africa, Asia and southern Europe. Climate changes of recent decades have recently led to a rise in the distribution of this virus. Still few scientific data are available on the biology of its vector, the tick, or its own biology, but the proven presence of human infections observed in Spain and animals with positive serology in Corsica should focus our attention on this pathogen. This review takes stock of the epidemiologic evolution of CCHF in Europe, notably in France.

Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a severe tick-borne viral disease of global concerns due to the increasing incidence and lack of effective treatments. The causative agent, CCHF virus (CCHFV), has been characterized for years; however, its tropism in cell lines of different host and tissue origins remains unclear. This study characterized the susceptibility of 16 human and 6 animal cell lines to CCHFV. Increased viral load and viral nucleoprotein expression, and productive CCHFV replication were detected in human vascular (HUVEC), renal (SW-13 and HEK-293), hepatic (Huh7), and cerebra
