Clinical description of a case of FMH in a 77 years-old man, heavy smoker and diabetic. At the beginning its appearance mimic a small polyp of the middle third of the right vocal cord. The patient refused any treatment at first, but one year later, when seen again in the office, a mass covering-up the right hemilarynx was detected and a total laryngectomy was advised and done. In spite of the correctness of the follow-up in the next six months, the unhappy commit suicide.

Malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) of the conjunctiva is an extremely rare tumour, and only three previous cases have been reported. We describe two patients with MFH of the conjunctiva: a 58-year-old white male with epibulbar tumour who had exenteration and is alive after five years' follow-up, and a 3 1/2-year-old African girl with xeroderma pigmentosum and an MFH of her right eye conjunctiva, the first reported case of this association. The characteristics and the methods of diagnosis of MFH are discussed.

A 64-year-old man with the chief complaint of abdominal fullness was hospitalized on the suspicion of pancreatic tumor. The tumor was thought to be a pancreatic or retroperitoneal tumor, based on examinations of ultrasonography and CT scan of the upper abdomen, angiography of abdominal arteries, and ERCP. A case of malignant fibrous histiocytoma in the right postero-superior mediastinum in a 43-year-old male patient is presented. He was operated on and a part of the tumor including the infiltrated second segment of the lung was resected. At reoperation, the great vessels were found infiltrated by the tumor and radical exstirpation could not be carried out. The patient died 4 months after discovery of his disease due to further growth of the tumor. This case is the fifth malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the mediastinum described in the world literature.

The natural history of malignant fibrous histiocytomas in children has not been well delineated. During a 6-year period, we have treated six patients less than 18 years of age. The sites of origin included the retroperitoneum in 2 patients, neck in 2 patients, and extremities in 2 patients. Surgical treatment consisted of wide local excision in 5 patients and amputation in 12; radiation and/or chemotherapy were administered to 2 patients following resection of all tumor. Fibrous histiocytoma is a rare tumor whose ocular manifestations usually involve the orbit or, less commonly, the conjunctiva and ciliary body. We have treated two patients with fibrous histiocytoma of the lacrimal sac. A case of malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the lung is reported. The tumour margin was well circumscribed, showing an expanding border and no capsule. The main part of the tumour was composed of spindle-shaped fibroblast-like cells arranged in broad fascicles with a partially storiform pattern. Fibrous histiocytoma is a rare mesenchymal tumor. The origin is believed to be a pleuri-potential cell, histiocytic in type, which can evolve into a facultative fibroblast under certain conditions. A case of a malignant fibrous histiocytoma in the subglottic larynx is reported. At present, the clinical behavior and degree of malignancy cannot be predicted. It appears that wide, local excision of the tumor with a margin of normal tissue is the treatment of choice. Regional block dissection of lymph nodes is not indicated unless clinically palpable nodes are present.

Rib benign fibrous histiocytoma (BFH) is an uncommon entity. We came across a 20-year-old Chinese man who complained of right chest pain for 2 weeks. All laboratory examination results were normal. CT of the thorax revealed an expansible bone lesion in the right sixth anterior rib. Whole-body bone scan demonstrated intense tracer uptake in the lesion without other abnormalities. Malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) is widely regarded as the commonest soft tissue sarcoma of adulthood which tends to occur in the deep soft tissues of the extremities and the retroperitoneum. Uncertain histogenesis and numerous subtypes make MFH a rather controversial entity. These tumours are relatively rare in the head and neck region accounting for only 1-3% of all cases of MFH. Atypical fibrous histiocytoma is a rare neoplasm. A scrotal location for this tumor is even more unusual. We report a case of a 90-year-old man with scrotal atypical fibrous histiocytoma. Malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) is the most common soft-tissue sarcoma of late adult life, but is relatively uncommon in the head and neck region. We report the clinical and pathological findings in a case of malignant fibrous histiocytoma in the conjunctiva of a 60-year-old man. The patient initially had an atypical limbal lesion, resembling a pterygium, which was excised. Two local recurrences, noted during the following year, were treated by surgical excision followed by cryotherapy.
