PURPOSE: High-quality hospital-based cancer registry systems are the key elements of a healthy population-based cancer data. BACKGROUND: Optimal blood culture performance is critical for successful diagnosis and treatment of sepsis. To understand the status of blood culture, we investigated several aspects of the procedure at 9 university hospitals.

PURPOSE: Clinical autopsy rate have been declining since the 1950s, but it remains a useful investigation tool.
METHODS AND RESULTS: Through six examples of our experience, we underline its interest for clinical, didactic and public health purposes.
CONCLUSIONS: We try to understand the reasons for its decline and, as demonstrated, it can be attributed to a number of factors. These need to be addressed in order to reassert the status of the autopsy as an investigation and audit tool which is crucial to the future effectiveness of modern medicine.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to determine the validity of systemic sclerosis (SSc) diagnoses in Finnish university hospitals.
METHOD: Electronic medical records for 385 patients with a registered diagnosis of SSc (ICD-10 code M34) in two Finnish university hospitals from 2008 to 2018 were reviewed to assess whether each patient's diagnosis was correct.

Unlike pediatric intussusception, most adult cases have a demonstrable etiology. To determine current management of hypoplastic left heart syndrome, we utilized the discharge database of the University Hospital Consortium and obtained data on the surgical procedures, length of stay, hospital charges, and outcome for 636 neonates with this condition admitted to 40 member institutions from 1989 to 1993.
