PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to document diurnal changes in intraocular pressure (IOP) in uveitic glaucoma (UG) and compare it with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) patients.

The IOP was measured in large groups of patients with an implanted posterior chamber lens with or without the use of natrium hyaluronate. It was established that implantation of an artificial lens alone does not influence the value of the intraocular pressure. In cases when natrium hyaluronate was used the pressure was slightly higher but only exceptionally it exceeded 35 mm Hg (most frequently in persons with glaucoma existing before the cataract extraction). The IOP was controlled in the course of several days in all the patients without any harmful consequences for the visual function.

BACKGROUND: Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) is an endoscopic examination of the upper gastrointestinal tract that requires insufflation with gas, leading to intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH). Domperidone, a dopamine antagonist was found to delay the intraocular pressure (IOP) recovery in rabbit eyes after infusion with hypertonic saline and to lower the IOP of normal cat eyes, indicating that domperidone is an ocular hypotensive agent. It did not affect cardiac function significantly but produced potent inhibition of bronchial muscle tone. It improved the blood flow to eye tissues including choroid, ciliary body and retina. These results suggest that domperidone could be used to treat glaucoma without producing cardiovascular disturbances and/or asthmatic attacks.

Adenosine is thought to participate in the regulation of intraocular pressure since adenosine and several adenosine derivatives increase and/or decrease intraocular pressure. BACKGROUND: The dynamic contour tonometer PASCAL (DCT) is a direct noninvasive digital tonometer matching the corneal contour. We compared the DCT with the Goldmann applanation tonometer (GAT).

The subject of our investigations was the behaviour of the IOP after extracapsular and intracapsular operations with implantation of artificial lenses as well into the anterior as into posterior chamber. The investigations were performed on the material of 395 eyes operated in the years 1985-1988. It was established that after these operations glaucoma is a very rare complication.
