Intraocular medulloepithelioma is a rare congenital tumor that arises from the nonpigmented epithelium of the ciliary body. It is the second most common primary intraocular neoplasm during the first decade of life. It may present with an iris mass or cyst (56%), glaucoma (48%), cataract (26%), leukocoria (18%), decrease in vision (41%), or pain (30%). Here, the authors present a case of a medulloepithelioma investigated with multimodal imaging, including the first characterization with intraoperative optic coherence tomography. Malignant melanoma is the most frequently encountered primary intraocular neoplasm. Within the eye this tumour arises in the uveal tract where the choroid is affected more often than the iris or ciliary body. The tumour occurs typically in middle life and the aetiology is not known. Uveal tissue is heavily pigmented in all races but ocular melanoma is notably rare in negroes. There is clinical and pathological evidence that malignant change may take place in a choroidal naevus, but melanoma has arisen in eyes documented to have no pre-existing pigmented lesion.

Spontaneously occurring ocular neoplasia is rarely reported in rabbits. This case series presents four cases of rabbits diagnosed with iridociliary tumors, which have not been previously reported in this species. Major pathological findings include epithelial tumors affecting the anterior uvea with variable pigmentation and basement membrane formation. Follow-up information was only available for two cases, but neither showed evidence of metastasis, suggesting that the prognosis for these tumors in rabbits, as in other species, may be very good.

Iris mammillations are rarely described, distinctive villiform protuberances that can cover the iris. In the majority of reported cases they are unilateral and sporadic, and are seen in association with oculodermal melanosis. BACKGROUND: Peripheral primary cyst of the iris is an uncommon benign condition that may masquerade as a tumor of the ciliary body. Careful examination utilizing the slit lamp and gonioscopy is necessary to successfully differentiate the two.
CONCLUSIONS: Given their uncommon occurrence and the importance of ruling out melanoma or other malignancies, this review is a guide in the evaluation and diagnosis of patients with this condition.

Chromatophoromas are neoplasms arising from pigment cells in vertebrates. Iridophoromas are a type of chromatophoroma that are reported in several teleost species. Ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) allows high-resolution imaging of the anterior segment due to ultrasound transducers between 50 and 100 MHz. At present stage of experience, mainly analysis of iris and ciliary body structures seem to be clinically rewarding. This is demonstrated by two similar looking tumors, involving the chamber angle. By means of UBM it was possible to differentiate between cystic and solid growths and to assess tumor extensions.

Melanoma isolated to the iris is rare and can present with a distorted pupil. This is a case report of an 81-year-old asymptomatic man, who had a large pigmented element in his left iris through 30 years. Because of involvement of the angle the tumour was excised with the ciliary body, and histopathologic examination revealed an iris melanoma. Primary uveal melanoma is rare and affects approximately 8,000 persons per year worldwide. This malignancy can involve the iris, ciliary body, and choroid. Of these three structures, the iris is the least commonly affected site, representing only 4% of all uveal melanomas.
