[Testicular malignant Leydig cell tumor: A case report].

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinicopathological features of testicular malignant Leydig cell tumor (TMLCT) and improve the non-invasive diagnosis of the disease. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed the clinicopathological data on a case of TMLCT, detected the circulating tumor cells (CTC) in the peripheral venous blood, and reviewed the related literature. RESULTS: The patient, a 47-year-old male, underwent radical orchidoepididymectomy under general anesthesia. Postoperative pathology confirmed the lesion to be TMLCT, which was mainly composed of Leydig cells and suspected with vessel ca

[A case of Leydig cell tumor of the testis].

Leydig cell tumors represent about 3% of all testicular neoplasms. Actually no specific pathologic criteria has really distinguished the benign from the malignant tumors which represent about 11% of the cases. The presence of metastases is the only unequivocal criteria of malignancy. Authors present a rare Leydigoma case with gynecomastia. Clinical, diagnostical and most of all therapeutical aspects are discussed reconfirming the role of the orchifuniculectomy in T1 N0 M0 stage.

The diagnosis of Leydig cell tumors in childhood.

We report the clinical and hormonal findings in two boys with isosexual precocity secondary to Levdig cell tumor of the testis. The hormonal profile at the initial evaluation was quite different in the two cases suggesting differences in steroid biosynthesis by the tumors. These differences indicate that a dexamethasone suppression test may be required to differentiate between Leydig cell tumors and congenital virilizing adrenal hyperplasia with adrenal rest tissue located within the testes.

Malignant Leydig cell tumor: objective tumor response to o,p'-DDD.

Leydig cell carcinoma of the testicle is a rare tumor with 16 well-documented cases in the medical literature. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy have not been successful in treating patients with metastatic disease. The patient described in this report had widely metastatic Leydig cell carcinoma associated with hypertension, hypokalemic alkalosis, and an elevated serum concentration of desoxycorticosterone. He experienced an objective clinical remission and disappearance of pulmonary metastases while receiving o,p'-DDD as the sole chemotherapeutic agent. This response was similar to that found in

Management of testicular Leydig cell tumor: A case report.

RATIONALE: Testicular Leydig cell tumor (LCT) is a rare neoplasm. It commonly presents as a painless testicular mass with or without endocrine changes. Histological and immunohistochemical examination play important roles in differentiating LCT from testicular germ cell tumors. PATIENT CONCERNS: We highlight the imaging phenotype, as well as the pathological findings of a case of LCT in a 62-year-old male. DIAGNOSES: Preoperative noncontrast CT scan of the abdomen revealed a 7.0 × 6.4 × 5.3 cm oval mass with heterogeneous density, located in the right testis. Pelvic noncontrast MRI showed a

Two Years of Gynecomastia Caused by Leydig Cell Tumor.

Gynecomastia is a common incidental finding in males that can be caused by various benign or malignant diseases. In rare cases, it results from Leydig cell tumors, a rare entity accounting for 3% of all testicular neoplasms. Some of them are hormonally active but seldom cause symptomatic endocrine disturbance. Here we report on a 32-year-old male presenting with gynecomastia which he had already been suffering from for two years. Although he had been seen by three other specialists, including a urologist, none of them found the small mass in the upper pole of his right testis. We decided to pe

Leydig cell tumor of the testis, presenting with azoospermia.

CASE: A case of Leydig cell tumor, associated with azoospermia, is presented. OUTCOME: The levels of sex hormones obviously were decreased, including luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), with elevated testosterone. Computed tomography revealed no adrenal gland tumor, but a significant calcification in the right scrotal content was observed. He received a right radical orchiectomy and then he was unable to ejaculate. An endocrine panel revealed significantly decreased levels of testosterone and the low LH level had remained. Hormone replacement therapy with combined

[Precocious puberty caused by a testicular Leydig cell tumor].

Testicular tumors are very rare in boys, approximately 1.5% of these are Leydig cell tumors. The authors present a 4.5 year-old boy with Leydig cell tumor of left testis, which was associated with increased sex steroid production that caused precocious puberty. These tumors are benign processes in prepubertal children. Beyond the rarity of this case the authors would like to report about its diagnostic difficulties and testis-sparing remove of it. The plasma 17-hydroxyprogesterone levels provide the distinction between congenital adrenal hyperplasia and Leydig cell tumor in patient with precoc

Interstitial cell (Leydig) tumor in an eland (Taurotragus oryx).

We observed an interstitial cell tumor in an 18-mo-old captive eland bull (Taurotragus oryx) in Tel Aviv, Israel. The histological description of the tumor in the eland was similar to that described in cattle; however, the appearance of a moderate amount of lipid vacuoles in the cytoplasm of the neoplastic cells was uncharacteristic for bovine interstitial cell tumors. The eland also had clinical signs of gynecomastia.

AFP-producing Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor of the ovary.

A tumor of the right ovary in a 21-year-old single woman is reported. Secondary amenorrhea, hirsutism, acne and deepening of the voice were associated with the tumor. Light and electron microscopic examinations showed that the tumor was composed of cells resembling Sertoli and Leydig cells of the testis in their cytology features and growth patterns. High levels of circulating dehydroepiandrosterone, androstenedione, testosterone and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) were found preoperatively. Preoperative estrogen and progesterone levels were all slightly above the upper limits of normal for females. T

Leydig cell tumor in grey zone: A case report.

INTRODUCTION: Leydig cell tumor constitutes only about 1-3% of testicular neoplasms. There is apparently increased incidence in the last few years; one possible explanation for this phenomenon is the widespread use of ultrasound technology and the subsequent increased early detection of smaller lesions that have not been found in historical series. CASE PRESENTATION: We report a case of Leydig cell tumor of testis in a patient presenting with painless long standing slowly growing left scrotal mass who found to have intrapulmonary nodule and multiple enlarged retroperitoneal lymph nodes on sta

Occult Leydig cell tumor in a patient with gynecomastia.

OBJECTIVE: To report a case of a clinically occult testicular tumor causing gynecomastia and to alert physicians to the importance of use of testicular ultrasonography in patients with progressive gynecomastia despite normal findings on testicular examination. METHODS: We present a detailed case, including results of clinical, laboratory, and radiologic assessment, of a man with hyperprolactinemia and gynecomastia. RESULTS: A 36-year-old man with progressive gynecomastia was referred to our clinic because of an increased serum prolactin level. Subsequent clinical investigation revealed no ev

[Leydig cell tumor, gynecomastia, and inferior vena cava thrombosis].

Leydig cell tumor is a testicular tumor with a low incidence characterized by a high estrogens secretion from the tumoral cells. Its more frequent clinical presentation is a testicular nodule with or without other endocrine manifestations due to estrogenic hypersecretion. We're reporting a case of a Leydig cell tumor with high plasmatic levels of estradiol, gynecomastia and inferior cava vein thrombosis, which hasn't been described among its clinical features up to now. Vascular thrombotic phenomenons have already been reported in other clinical situations with hiperestrogesism and they could
