The clinical and histopathological findings in a case of inflammatory linear verrucose epidermal nevus coexisting with lichen amyloidosus are presented. A 33-year-old woman had had linear verrucose lesions which were histopathologically compatible with ILVEN, and with which no amyloid deposits were associated, on her left lower leg for 30 years. She had noticed keratotic papules around the verrucose lesions on the left leg for the last 3 years. The ultrasound-assisted hydrolysis of aspirin methyl ester (AME) was investigated using immobilized Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB) (1%) in the presence of solvents like triolein, chloroform (CHCl3) and dichloromethane (DCM). Cooling or the application of mentholated liniments to the skin has been used to treat itch for centuries, yet remarkably little is known about how counter-stimuli such as these induce itch relief. INTRODUCTION: Turpentine is an oleoresin obtained from various species of pine. It contains a volatile oil (oil of turpentine) which is responsible for its properties and this is the form generally used. Opportunity for contact with turpentine is widespread. It is universally used as a solvent to dissolve and thin lacquers, varnishes and paints. It is also an ingredient in many liniments and cold remedies. Turpentine is regarded as both a local irritant and a sensitizer. Cases of allergic contact dermatitis in painters, mechanics, shoe repairers and home decorators have been reported.

A pyogenic granuloma of the cornea developed on the vascularized cornea of a 79-year-old woman after "snake oil" accidentally dripped in her eye. The snake oil was being used to relieve forehead pain, which may have been referred. The five previously reported examples of corneal pyogenic granuloma are similar to this case in that trauma preceded development of the lesion. However, the chemical trauma induced by the snake oil appears to be a unique mechanism of injury.
