Repeated Low-Level Red-Light Therapy for Controlling Onset and Progression of Myopia-a Review.

Repeated low-level red-light (RLRL), characterized by increased energy supply and cellular metabolism, thus enhancing metabolic repair processes, has gained persistent worldwide attention in recent years as a new novel scientific approach for therapeutic application in myopia. This therapeutic revolution led by RLRL therapy is due to significant advances in bioenergetics and photobiology, for instance, enormous progresses in photobiomodulation regulated by cytochrome c oxidase, the primary photoreceptor of the light in the red to near infrared regions of the electromagnetic spectrum, as the pr

Optimisation of low-level light therapy (lllt) parameters and evaluation of its immunomodulatory effect on fibroblasts.

Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is being increasingly applied in regenerative medicine due to its ability to modulate cellular metabolism and support repair processes. However, the effect of various exposure parameters on fibroblast activity still does not remain fully understood. The study aim was to evaluate the effect of selected LLLT parameters (808 nm, 100 and 200 mW, 2 and 10 J/cm², pulsed beam) on the biological activity of fibroblasts in vitro. Fibroblasts were exposed to the established exposure parameters, and then the number of adherent and metabolically active cells, their migration

Low-level light emitting diode (LED) therapy suppresses inflammasome-mediated brain damage in experimental ischemic stroke.

Use of photostimulation including low-level light emitting diode (LED) therapy has broadened greatly in recent years because it is compact, portable, and easy to use. Here, the effects of photostimulation by LED (610 nm) therapy on ischemic brain damage was investigated in mice in which treatment started after a stroke in a clinically relevant setting. The mice underwent LED therapy (20 min) twice a day for 3 days, commencing at 4 hours post-ischemia. LED therapy group generated a significantly smaller infarct size and improvements in neurological function based on neurologic test score. LED t

Repeated low-level red light therapy for pathologic myopia: a case series of two adult patients.

Pathologic myopia (PM) is a leading, traditionally irreversible cause of vision loss primarily managed through observation. This pilot case series explores repeated low-level red light (RLRL) therapy for PM. Two adult patients underwent twice-daily home-based RLRL sessions for 6 months. Preliminary observations revealed functional improvement in visual acuity for one patient, while the other demonstrated modest anatomical recovery, including reduced macular retinoschisis and slightly decreased axial length. These hypothesis-generating findings suggest RLRL might offer structural and functional
