Using the Finite Element Method to Determine the Odonto-Periodontal Stress for a Patient with Angle Class II Division 1 Malocclusion.

The finite element method (FEM) is a computational method that can solve all biomechanical problems, including the field of orthodontics. The purpose of this virtual experimental study is to determine the behavior of a real orthodontic system subjected to different systems of loads. To analyze the real orthodontic system, we studied the case of a 21-year-old female patient. We used the InVesalius program, which can transform a set of DICOM-type images taken from cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) into three-dimensional structures. These structures were edited, modified, completed, and analyz

Conservative Non-Surgical Management of Horizontal Root-Fractured Maxillary Incisors in a Young Male with Angle Class II, Division 2, Malocclusion.

Horizontal root fractures are a rare emergency in a dental office. The injury involves periodontal ligament, cementum, dentine and pulp. The healing is influenced by the location of the root fracture, the displacement of the fragments and the status of the pulp. This report presents a clinical case of horizontal fractures to both maxillary central incisors due to an act of violence. The type of occlusion has avoided a severe diastasis of the coronal parts with a subsequent damage to the pulp and periodontum. The fractures were treated with an orthodontic splint without any further therapy and

Evaluation of the Condyle-Fossa Relationship in Angle's Class II Division 1 Malocclusions Using Cone-Beam Computed Tomography: A Descriptive Cross-Sectional Study in Humans.

Background The condyle-fossa relationship is essential for smooth, pain-free jaw movement, relying on symmetrical and balanced condyles. However, this relationship may vary in individuals with malocclusions. Despite its clinical significance, few studies have examined the three-dimensional aspects of condyle morphology and position in class II division 1 malocclusion, and there is a lack of comprehensive data on its subdivision. Aim and objective This study aimed to assess and compare the condyle-fossa relationship, condyle positions, and the dimensional and positional symmetry between the rig
