Mannan antigen (MA) in neonates as a marker of invasive candidemia is not well studied, although 4% of all neonatal intensive care unit admissions are attributed to Candida spp. infections. Blood samples were collected over a 4-year period from 335 children (aged 1-16 years) suffering from recurrent respiratory infections and 78 controls. BACKGROUND: Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is almost always lethal if not treated, but most infections with the causative agents are clinically silent.
