Yoga as Therapy: Reasonable Movements That Rejuvenate the Mind and Body After Spinal Cord Injury.

BACKGROUND: People with spinal cord injury (SCI) experience long-term physical, emotional, and social challenges. Although adaptive yoga may support physical function and psychosocial well-being, its integration into rehabilitation and community care remains limited. OBJECTIVES: To explore the experiences and perceptions of yoga for people with SCI, drawing perspectives from people with SCI, healthcare providers (HCPs), and certified yoga therapists. METHODS: Using a qualitative descriptive approach, we conducted semi-structured interviews with 20 participants: people with SCI (n = 10), HCPs

Effect of mindfulness-based mind-body therapies in patients with non-specific low back pain-A network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Although mindfulness-based mind-body therapy (MBMBT) is an effective non-surgical treatment for patients with non-specific low back pain (NLBP), the best MBMBT mode of treatment for NLBP patients has not been identified. Therefore, a network meta-analysis (NMA) was conducted to compare the effects of different MBMBTs in the treatment of NLBP patients. METHODS: PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and Web of Science databases were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) applying MBMBT for the treatment of NLBP patients, with all of the

Transcriptomic signatures of mind-body transformations therapy in breast cancer: Downregulation of the interferon signaling pathway.

BACKGROUND: Growing evidence has shown that Mind-Body Transformations-Therapies (MBT-T) are able to modulate chronic inflammation, a well-known driver of cancer progression and drug resistance. In our previous work, we showed that a specific MBT-T protocol was able to reduce the release of various pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines in the sera of patients with breast cancer that completed adjuvant chemotherapy. Despite these clinical observations, the underlying molecular pathways through which this therapy exerts its effects remain unclear. This study aims to address this gap by charac

Migraine disability, pain catastrophizing, and headache severity are associated with evoked pain and targeted by mind-body therapy.

Meta-analysis suggests that migraine patients are no more sensitive to experimentally evoked pain than healthy control subjects. At the same time, studies have linked some migraine symptoms to quantitative sensory testing (QST) profiles. Unfortunately, previous studies associating migraine symptoms and QST have important methodological shortcomings, stemming from small sample sizes, and frequent use of univariate statistics for multivariate research questions. In the current study, we seek to address these limitations by using a large sample of episodic migraine patients (n = 103) and a multiv

Sniffing out a solution: How emotional body odors can improve mindfulness therapy for social anxiety.

BACKGROUND: Human body odors (BOs) serve as an effective means of social communication, with individuals exposed to emotional BOs experiencing a partial replication of the sender's affective state. This phenomenon may be particularly relevant in conditions where social interactions are impaired, such as social anxiety. Our study aimed to investigate if emotional human BOs could augment the benefits of mindfulness-based interventions. METHODS: We enrolled 48 women with social anxiety symptoms and assigned them to groups exposed to happiness BO, fear BO, or clean air. Participants engaged in mi

A comparative study of traditional Chinese mind-body therapies on sleep quality, mental health, and quality of life in patients with sleep disorders: a network meta-analysis based on randomized controlled trials.

BACKGROUND: Sleep disorders are a common clinical condition characterized primarily by difficulty falling asleep, trouble maintaining sleep, and impaired daytime functioning, with a high prevalence among adults. This condition can lead to a persistent decline in sleep quality, trigger mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, and ultimately reduce overall quality of life. Traditional Chinese mind-body exercise therapies are considered potentially effective non-pharmacological interventions due to their low risk, high accessibility, and dual mind-body regulation effects. However, the
