Evaluation of mobile health applications for cervical cancer in the digital marketplace.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the quality of mobile health (mHealth) applications (apps) for cervical cancer using the mobile app rating scale (MARS), APPLICATIONS scoring system, and app rating using specific statements. METHODS: We searched for cervical cancer apps on two major mobile operating systems (Google Play Store and Apple iTunes Store) in March 2021. Eligible apps were downloaded and assessed for quality by two independent reviewers using multimodal assessment tools. RESULTS: The overall quality of the MARS score was 2.61±0.795. The highest scoring app was "The American Society for Colposc

A multi-level usability evaluation of mobile health applications: A case study.

OBJECTIVE: To report a methodological approach for the development of a usable mHealth application (app). MATERIALS AND METHODS: This work was guided by a 3-level stratified view of health information technology (IT) usability evaluation framework. We first describe a number of methodologies for operationalizing each level of the framework. Following the description of each methodology, we present a case study which illustrates the use of our preferred methodologies for the development of a mHealth app. At level 1 (user-task), we applied a card sorting technique to guide the information archi

Performance Evaluation of an Enhanced Uplink 3.5G System for Mobile Healthcare Applications.

The present paper studies the prospective and the performance of a forthcoming high-speed third generation (3.5G) networking technology, called enhanced uplink, for delivering mobile health (m-health) applications. The performance of 3.5G networks is a critical factor for successful development of m-health services perceived by end users. In this paper, we propose a methodology for performance assessment based on the joint uplink transmission of voice, real-time video, biological data (such as electrocardiogram, vital signals, and heart sounds), and healthcare records file transfer. Various sc

[A mobile application for people with anorexia and bulimia].

The development of new technologies in the field of eating disorders should help to improve access to care and serve to complement traditional treatments, notably after hospitalisations, to prevent early relapses. Mobile applications considered appropriate by experts, all Anglo-Saxon, do not necessarily offer the expected features. A French application has been developed at Sainte-Anne general hospital in Paris. It comprises a logbook, therapeutic tools and cognitive remediation games which favour better adaptability and improve psychological functioning.

How low-income adults in China perceive health and health management mobile applications.

AIM/OBJECTIVE: To examine the perceptions of low-income adults in suburban/rural China regarding health and health management mobile applications. Investigating barriers affecting their adoption of mobile health technology will facilitate better mobile intervention design, lower the medical burden on governments and society, and improve access to health knowledge for vulnerable groups. METHODS: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with low-income adults aged 25-45 (eight women, eight men). The interviewees were asked about their perceptions of health, user experiences with wearables, and

Tracking Chronic Diseases via Mobile Health Applications: Which User Experience Aspects Are Key?

Background: A key barrier to realizing the full potential and long-term collection of patient-reported outcomes (PROs) is the limited understanding of user experience (UX) factors that influence sustained patient engagement with digital PRO tools. Most existing research focuses on disease-specific or country-specific solutions, leaving a gap in identifying shared UX determinants that could inform scalable, cross-disease European digital health frameworks. This fragmentation hinders interoperability and increases development costs by requiring separate tools for each context. This case study ai

A mobile app for patients with Pompe disease and its possible clinical applications.

In recent years, the potential of smart technology to provide innovative solutions for disease management has raised high expectations for patients' and healthcare professionals' community. We developed a mobile app, called AIGkit, specifically designed for adult patients with Pompe disease, with the aim to help them manage the burden of illness-related factors, and also to provide clinicians with continuous tracking of each patient in real-time and ambient conditions of everyday life. We present the AIGkit as an innovative approach exploiting cutting-edge technology to improve quality of care

Mobile health applications for parents of children with Hirschsprung disease: a requirement analysis.

UNLABELLED: Hirschsprung disease (HD) is a congenital gastrointestinal disorder that occurs due to the absence of nerve cells in segments of the large intestine, resulting in impaired propulsive bowel movements. Postoperative complications and the need for continuous care place parents of affected children under significant educational challenges. Mobile health (mHealth) applications can serve as effective tools to enhance parental education and self-management. The aim of this study was to identify the requirements and functional needs of a mHealth application specifically designed for parent

Utility of mobile applications in the management of hepatitis B: A systematic review.

Hepatitis B virus is a public health issue, with severe complications such as cirrhosis and liver cancer that impose significant economic, emotional, and psychosocial burdens. Despite the availability of a vaccine and oral treatments, effective management of this disease remains a challenge. Telemedicine and mobile applications have the potential to improve the management of chronic diseases; this study examines their utility in hepatitis B. A search was conducted in four databases in November 2024 following the PRISMA guidelines. Out of 216 articles, seven studies were included. These studies

Therapeutic Content of Mobile Phone Applications for Substance Use Disorders: An Umbrella Review.

Mobile phone applications (MPAs) for substance use disorder (SUD) treatment are increasingly used by patients. Although pilot studies have shown promising results, multiple previous systematic reviews noted insufficient evidence for MPA use in SUD treatment-many of the previously published reviews evaluated different trials. Subsequently, we aimed to conduct an umbrella review of previously published reviews investigating the efficacy of MPAs for SUD treatment, excluding nicotine/tobacco because umbrella reviews have been done in this population and the nicotine/tobacco MPA approach often diff

Design and evaluation of a colon cancer mobile application.

BACKGROUND: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third leading cause of cancer and the second cause of cancer-related deaths in the world. Despite the infrastructure and the availability of organized screening programs, participation in their screening programs is less than the set goals. Considering the importance of informing the society about the prevention and early detection of colorectal cancer symptoms and the positive impact of mobile health technologies, the present research was conducted with the aim of designing and evaluating a colon cancer mobile application. Ion Mobility Mass Spectrometry Development and Applications.

Although as an analytical method with high specificity and high sensitivity, mass spectrometry (MS) has a wide range of applications in many fields, it still needs other technologies as the assist and supplement to enhance the scope and capability of analysis. Coupling with ion mobility (IM) can make an enhancement effect in the field of pharmaceutical analysis as a supplementary method. The two-dimensional mass technology improves the confidence of compounds annotations while increasing peak capacity, with the gradual deepening of theoretical research on IM-MS, it has shown unique advantages
