Infiltrative lipomas, similar to those described in man, were diagnosed in 12 dogs of various breeds, sexes, and ages. The neoplasms were poorly delineated, soft enlargements in muscle and connective tissue that caused dysfunction because of mechanical interference or pressure pain. The neoplasms consisted of differentiated fat cells that had infiltrated between or replaced muscle, collagen fibers or both. Single or multiple recurrences followed surgical removal in four of eight dogs: no follow-up was possible in the other four.

Uterine smooth muscle tumors are a heterogeneous group of mesenchymal neoplasms with multiple histologic variants and distinct biological behaviors. Pathologic classification (benign, uncertain malignant potential, malignant) relies on the evaluation of mitotic index, necrosis, and degree of cytologic atypia, with different thresholds based on each subtype. Uterine leiomyomas are the most common benign neoplasms found in women of reproductive age. Lipoleiomyoma, a rare variant of leiomyomas, is composed of intermixed smooth muscle cells and mature adipocytes. These neoplasms are usually discovered incidentally in obese, perimenopausal, or postmenopausal women. In this report, we present a case of lipoleiomyoma in a postmenopausal woman who presented with vaginal bleeding and back pain.

Intramuscular hemangiomas are rare benign neoplasms accounting for <1% of all hemangiomas and <20% are found in head and neck area. The muscle most frequently involved is the masseter muscle and very few cases have been reported for the occurrence of these hemangiomas in the buccinator muscle.
