OBJECTIVES: To assess postoperative hearing level, and factors that may have influence hearing improvement after myringoplasty.
METHODS: Twenty six cases of successful myringoplasty were included in this prospective study. Patient parameters including age, gender, size and site of the perforation, mastoid status, and etiology were evaluated. Hearing levels were assessed as the mean air conduction (AC), and air-bone gap (ABG) at 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz, and their relation with aforementioned parameters were analyzed.

METHODS: 25 children in the age group of 8-14 years suffering from chronic suppurative otitis media were taken up for myringoplasty using onlay technique under general anaesthesia.
RESULTS: All selected cases had a central type of dry perforation, good cochlear reserve and healthy middle ear mucosa. Cases having enlarged adenoids, infection in nose or throat, any traumatic perforation or previous attempt at closure were excluded from the study. It was found that there was 76% take up of graft after two months who also had improvement in hearing.

Aim of this study was to evaluate the role of rigid endoscope in the management of dry central perforation of the tympanic membrane and to compare the results of endoscopic myringoplasty with that of conventional myringoplasty using microscope. In endoscopic group there was 90% graft uptake rate as compared to 85% in microscopic group. The results of endoscopic myringoplasty are comparable to the conventional myringoplasty done under operating microscope and there is no significant difference between the gain in A-B gap in either group.

OBJECTIVE: Identify risk factors associated with failures in myringoplasty.

OBJECTIVE: This article describes the technique and the preliminary results of transcanal myringoplasty for small or midsized tympanic membrane perforations with the Tutopatch (Tutogen Medical, Inc., Alachua, FL, USA), a xenograft derived from bovine pericardium.
METHODS: All procedures started with a Rosen incision. The meatal skin was loosened from the bone up to the fibrous annulus, which was dislocated out of the sulcus, and the tympanic membrane was elevated from the malleus handle.
