In order to estimate its ability to predict the thermochemosensitivity of human cancers, a rapid in vitro assay based on morphological changes in the nucleus was performed on eight different human tumors (four malignant melanomas, two lung tumors, one renal carcinoma, and leukemia K-562). Canine histiocytic sarcoma (HS) is an aggressive tumor type originating from dendritic cells or macrophages. We previously reported high incidence of the two-base (AT) insertion mutation (insAT) in the tumor protein p53 (TP53) gene in dogs with HS, and the aim of this study was to investigate the clinical significance of insAT in canine HS. CASE SUMMARY: A 14-year 3-month-old spayed female mixed-breed cat presented with jaundice, anaemia and thrombocytopenia. Haemophagocytic syndrome associated with lymphoma was suspected after cytological examination of the spleen. 123 patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC) presented to the National Cancer Center Hospital (Tokyo) between 1978 and 1986. 22 of 71 patients with limited stage disease (LD) and none of 52 patients with extensive disease (ED) survived for 3 years. 15 of the 22 three year survivors had significant late complications. All patients received chemotherapy and either thoracic irradiation, resection or both. No prophylactic cranial irradiation was given. 4 patients developed cardiac failure, 2 with a dilated cardiomyopathy, despite the fact that no patient received over 420 mg/m2 of doxorubicin.

We report herein the case of a 64-year-old male who presented with hematochezia. The patient was diagnosed with malignant melanoma of the anorectum using colonoscopy. Preoperative studies revealed no distant metastases, and he underwent Miles operation. Pathological exams revealed that the tumor had invaded the submucosa with lymphatic and venous invasion. Seven acute leukemia cases with oculomotor paralysis and/or optic nerve paralysis were reported. Five cases were lymphoblastic and two were myelogenous leukemia. The average age was 30.7 years old and male to female ratio was 5:2. The eye involvement developed during hematological complete remission stage in 4 cases, and during relapsing stage in 2 cases. A combination chemotherapy "VEMA" consisting of vincristine (VCR), cyclophosphamide (Endoxan, EX), methotrexate (MTX) and nimustine (ACNU) has been carried out for the treatment of small cell bronchogenic carcinoma since September, 1978. Human malignant melanoma cultured cells were treated either with ACNU (1-(4-amino-2-methyl-5-pyrimidinyl)methyl-3-(2-chlorethyl)-3-nitro sourea hydrochloride), hyperthermia, or the combination of ACNU and hyperthermia.
