Bile salt hydrolase (BSH), a pivotal enzyme in cholesterol management, holds significant promise in both human and animal subjects. This study investigated the effect of fermentation dynamics in Heyndrickxia coagulans ATCC 7050 and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum ATCC 10012 to enhance BSH production. Two sulfur-containing amino acids, DL-cysteine (Cys) and DL-penicillamine (PenA), were condensed with ninhydrin to form their spirothiazolidine derivatives. We define "dual fingerprint reagents" as chemical formulations that produce with latent fingerprints in one stage impressions that are both colored and fluorescent. A new HPLC method by fluorescence or UV/vis absorbance detection has been developed for the separation and quantification of penicillamine stereoisomers after their spirocyclization with ninhydrin. The separation was performed on an achiral C18 column by isocratic elution with a copper(II)-l-proline complex as a chiral selector in the mobile phase. A reusable monofilament polyamide (Nytrel) filter and ninhydrin stained paper filter were compared in syringe filtration of urine to detect Schistosoma haematobium eggs in the urine under field conditions. The sensitivity of the technique using the Nytrel filter was similar to that of ninhydrin stained paper filters. The quantitative geometric mean S. haematobium egg counts obtained with the Nytrel filter were similar to those obtained with the paper filter.

Separation of amino compounds, including galactosamine and glucosamine, found in lipopolysaccharide and peptidoglycan, can be accomplished by two-dimensional thin-layer chromatography on cellulose layers. A patient with sensory changes in the territory of the ulnar nerve due to a partial nerve lesion 19 years previously, was treated by Transcutaneous Vibratory Stimulation. The effectiveness of this treatment was verified by subjective criteria and by the following tests: Moving and Static Two-Point discrimination Test, Light-touch-Deep-pressure (Semmes-Weinstein) Test, Ninhydrin sweat Test and Wrinkle Test.
