Nursing processes used in the treatment of patients with bipolar disorder.

Psychiatric nurses are increasingly being involved in the provision of care for outpatients with bipolar disorder. The establishment of a body of knowledge for the nursing of these patients is vital for the development of integrated evidence-based treatment. The literature for the period January 1980 to January 2006 is reviewed. A sensitive literature search included not only the nursing care based on research results but also nursing care based on experiences acquired by practising nurses. The results show that formal research on the nursing of patients with a bipolar disorder is remarkably l

Factors promoting and impeding efforts to deprescribe antidepressants among nursing home residents with dementia- a process evaluation guided by normalization process theory.

BACKGROUND: Despite recommendations against psychotropic medication in older nursing homes residents with behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD), antidepressants and other psychotropic drugs are still prescribed. We performed a cluster-randomized controlled trial to evaluate the effect of a complex intervention aiming to promote the deprescribing of antidepressants in institutionalized older persons with dementia. To understand the underlying mechanisms of trial outcomes, we conducted a process evaluation exploring the interventions implementation, areas of impact, and contex

Unpacking 'ultra-processed' foods: what nurses need to know.

'Ultra-processed' foods (UPFs) have received increasing attention in recent years, with concerns around the potential link between high intake of UPFs and adverse health outcomes. However, there is a lack of clear evidence supporting this link, and the current narrative around UPFs may lead to confusion about healthy eating. Since nurses are frequently perceived as trusted healthcare professionals and have a role in supporting healthy eating in clinical and community settings, it is important that they have an up-to-date understanding of the guidance on diet and the consumption of UPFs. This a

Prioritizing delirium risk factors in nursing: a cross-sectional study using the analytic hierarchy process.

BACKGROUND: Delirium is a complex neuropsychiatric syndrome characterized by acute and fluctuating disturbances in attention, cognition, and consciousness. Despite its significant impact on patient outcomes, a gap persists between clinical practice and evidence-based approaches for delirium prevention and management. This study aims to systematically explore nurses' perceptions of delirium risk factors, identify which factors they prioritize, and examine the reasoning behind their prioritization using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). By addressing these objectives, this study identified p

Effects of FMEA-based bleeding risk-stratified nursing on recovery process and safety after coronary angiography.

BACKGROUND: Access-site bleeding and postprocedural pain after coronary angiography are linked by a "bleeding-inflammation-pain" positive feedback coupling mechanism. Traditional event-driven nursing models lack prospective risk stratification and preemptive control, making it difficult to break this vicious cycle at its source. PURPOSE: To systematically evaluate the effects of a Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)-based bleeding risk-stratified nursing intervention on recovery process and safety outcomes in patients after coronary angiography. METHODS: A prospective randomized control
