Nutrition knowledge, attitudes, and practice towards breast cancer prevention among the female population of Iran University of medical science students.

Diet plays a measurable role in breast cancer (BC) prevention. The aims of this study were to assess nutrition-related BC prevention Knowledge, attitudes and practice (KAP) of female university students and to examine the relationship between demographic characteristics of students and their KAP. We conducted a cross-sectional study among 500 female students from Iran University of Medical Science (IUMS). A pretested self-administered questionnaires were used to assess the participants' nutrition-related BC prevention KAP. A total of 500 students completed the survey. Students' knowledge with

Combining nutrition, food science and engineering in developing solutions to Inflammatory bowel diseases--omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids as an example.

The Inflammatory bowel diseases, Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, are debilitating conditions, characterised by lifelong sensitivity to certain foods, and often a need for surgery and life-long medication. The anti-inflammatory effects of long chain omega-3 polyunsaturated acids justify their inclusion in enteral nutrition formulas that have been associated with disease remission. However, there have been variable data in clinical trials to test supplementary omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in inducing or maintaining remission in these diseases. Although variability in trial design

Joint BAPEN and Nutrition Society Symposium on 'Feeding size 0: the science of starvation'. Severe malnutrition: therapeutic challenges and treatment of hypovolaemic shock.

The systematic failure to recognise and appropriately treat children with severe malnutrition has been attributed to the elevated case-fatality rates, often as high as 50%, that still prevail in many hospitals in Africa. Children admitted to Kilifi District Hospital, on the coast of Kenya, with severe malnutrition frequently have life-threatening features and complications, many of which are not adequately identified or treated by WHO guidelines. Four main areas have been identified for research: early identification and better supportive care of sepsis; evidence-based fluid management strateg

Investigation of endocrine and cerebral response and nutrition and physical performance parameters according to bigorexia nervosa levels: a cross-sectional study in sports sciences faculty students.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of Bigorexia nervosa (BGN) levels on endocrine (Asprosin, GLP-1) and cerebral (BDNF) responses and nutritional and physical (6MWT, Six-Minute Walk Test)), speed, metabolic equivalent unit (MET)) performance parameters in students of the faculty of sports sciences. This study investigated muscle dysmorphic disorder (MDD), physical activity levels, and specific hormonal markers in 120 university students (63 females, 57 males) aged 18-25 years, all studying sport sciences and reporting no existing health problems. Participants completed a demog

Joint Expert Consensus on the Sodium Reduction Policy in Taiwan: A Collaborative Declaration by the Taiwan Hypertension Society (THS), Taiwan Society of Cardiology (TSOC), International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI), and Nutrition Society of Taiwan (NST).

BACKGROUND: Excess sodium intake is a major modifiable risk factor for hypertension and other non-communicable diseases, including stroke, ischemic heart disease, and chronic kidney disease. Globally, average sodium intake remains more than twice the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended limit of 2 g/day, and Taiwan similarly faces a substantial sodium burden, with mean intake exceeding 3 g/day and a persistent policy implementation gap. Given the salt sensitivity of East Asian populations, these excess levels translate into disproportionately higher cardiovascular (CV) and broader healt

Implementation strategies for integrating nutritional interventions into cancer care: A systematic literature review.

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Nutritional conditions and malnutrition commonly affect people diagnosed with cancer, leading to worse outcomes and reduced quality of life. An implementation science approach may improve the delivery of evidence-based nutrition in cancer. The aim of this review is to systematically evaluate published literature for implementation strategies that have been applied to improve delivery of nutritional interventions in cancer. METHODS: A literature search of databases including MEDLINE, EMBASE, Global Health, APA PsychINFO, CINAHL, yielded 5164 articles, of which 37 were inclu
