The skin of the perianal region is very thin and sensitive. The carbon dioxide laser is a very effective tool for removing tumors and treating conditions of this area. It offers a "no touch" method of treatment for conditions of the perianal region. There is less bleeding, less pain, less swelling with the use of the carbon dioxide laser. The carbon dioxide laser is an effective tool for excising perianal tumors, rectal tumors, performing anal sacculectomies and treating perianal fistulas.

Anal glands which lie in the intersphincteric space at the dentate line play an important role in the development of abscesses and fistulas. Secondary causes are inflammatory colorectal diseases and skin infections. For the classification of anorectal abscesses and fistulas a simple and practible nomenclature is proposed. Clinical presentation and diagnostic are described with regard to new means of diagnostic. The opening of the abscess without a fistulotomy appears to be the treatment of choice in patients with a perianal abscess whereas patients with an intersphincteric abscess are treated

Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is a rare salivary glands tumor and often displays aggressive behavior with frequent relapse and metastasis. The terminal ACC lacks standard treatment guidelines and is always accompanied by poor prognosis. Here, we report a case of rare perianal ACC who received resection and palliative adjuvant radiation. Five years later, PET-computed tomography (CT) showed perianal recurrence and multiple pulmonary metastases. Combined chemotherapy with doxorubicin, carboplatin and cyclophosphamide was applied for two cycles but ineffective. Further next-generation sequencing

INTRODUCTION: Perianal hidradenitis suppurativa is a chronic recurrent inflammatory, suppurative, and fistulising disease of apocrine glands, adjacent anal canal and soft tissues. Perianal area is the second most common affected area after axilla. There are three grades of the disease. Hidradenitis suppurativa represents a chronic, recurrent, deep-seated folliculitis resulting in abscesses, followed by the formation of sinus tracts and subsequent scarring. Perianal hidradenitis suppurativa is the last and the most serious grade of the disease and a specific access is needed for patient prepara

Hamartoma is characterized by the abnormal proliferation of cells and tissues within the originating organ. Apocrine hamartoma (AH) affecting the skin, especially in the perianal area, has not yet been reported in dogs. A 7-year-old neutered male Poodle presented with multiple perianal papules and pruritus. Histopathological examination revealed significant enlargement of the apocrine glands and ducts, accompanied by mononuclear cell infiltration that extended into the subcutis. Given the location, number, depth and extent of the lesion, CO2 laser ablation was chosen over surgical resection. C

A unique case of enterobiasis presenting as recurrent cellulitis and a perianal mass in a six-year-old girl is reported. Complicated perianal lesions due to Enterobius are unusual. Only 10 previous cases are known, with unclear pathogenesis in most of them, although mucosal breaches and perianal crypt or gland entry have been postulated. The association of the mass in this case with a deep crypt, and the histopathologic finding of squamous epithelium focally surrounding the granulomatous reaction to the Enterobius eggs suggest that the worm entered the perianal tissues via a crypt. Extramammary Paget disease (EMPD) is an uncommon slow-growing skin adenocarcinoma originating in the anogenital region and axilla outside the mammary glands, often in regions with apocrine glands. The most common location is the vulva, followed by perineal, perianal, scrotal and penile skin. Here, we report a case of a 63-year-old male with EMPD in the perianal region. He reported 4 years of pain associated with an increasing region of skin irritation and bleeding on defecation that did not improve with topical agents. A biopsy sample revealed poorly differentiated carcinoma consistent with ad

Verneuil's disease is classically described as a chronic hidradenitis suppurativa of the apocrine sweat glands of the skin. It is characterized by the formation of recurrent abscesses of the subcutaneous tissues at the level of areas containing apocrine sweat glands. Extensive chronic inflammatory lesions of skin and subcutaneous tissues can evolve in multiple fistula. Occurrence in the perianal region is rather frequent (32% according to Goligher), but the lesions are often misdiagnosed. Fistula-in-ano are rare. When such is the case, fistula-in-ano are the consequences of a long evolution of

PURPOSE: Perianal fistulous disease is present in 10-15% of children with Crohn's disease (CD) and is frequently complex and refractory to treatment, with one-third of patients having recurrent lesions. We conducted a systematic review of the literature to examine the best surgical strategy or strategies for pediatric complex perianal fistulous disease (CPFD) in CD.
METHODS: We searched CENTRAL, MEDLINE, EMBASE, and CINAHL for studies discussing at least one surgical strategy for the treatment of pediatric CPFD in CD. Reference lists of included studies were hand-searched. Two researchers scr

Extramammary Paget's disease is an uncommon intra-epidermal malignant neoplasm that arises in area rich in apocrine glands. Common sites of occurrence include the vulva, perianal region, perineum, and scrotum. The lesion may be accompanied by an invasive adenocarcinoma or adenocarcinoma in situ of the apocrine glands. Generally, the prognosis is poor. Herein, we report two cases of extramammary Paget's disease, one involving the penoscrotal area with bilateral inguinal and pelvic lymph node metastases, the other involving the scrotal area without metastases.

Extramammary Paget disease (EMPD) is a rare form of cancer that involves skin areas rich in apocrine glands. The common sites of occurrence include the vulva, perianal region, perineum, and axilla. Perianal Paget disease (PPD) is a subset of EMPD, which arises in the perianal skin. The disease commonly presents with a thickened plaque-like lesion with erythema or white scaly appearance. It is generally classified into two categories based on the origin of the tumor cells: (1) primary PPD if the tumor arises from intraepidermal cells and (2) secondary PPD if cancer originates from the underlyin

Previously ectopic breast tissue was thought to be derived from the caudal remnants of the primitive embryonic milk ridges; anogenital mammary-like glands are presently considered as normal constituents of the anogenital region. We report a case of young female, who presented with an anal papilloma. Histopathological examination revealed extensive fibrocystic changes in anogenital mammary-like glands. To date, a lot of benign changes and a wide range of benign and malignant neoplasms have been reported in these glands. However, extensive fibrocystic change of these glands in anal region is ver

The most common metastatic sites of gastric cancer are liver, lung, bone and adrenal gland. However, skin metastases from gastric cancer are relatively rare. We herein report a case of advanced gastric cancer with perianal skin metastasis in a 70-year-old male. On admission, patient presented with epigastric pain. Endoscopy and abdominal CT scan demonstrated the stage IV gastric cancer. He had one painless nodule on perianal skin area, biopsy of that lesion showed a feature of poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma clinically from the stomach. We suspected that the perianal lesion was originated

Perianal Paget's disease (PPD) is a rare skin adenocarcinoma that arises in the apocrine glands of the perianal region. It is often misdiagnosed as eczema, leukoplakia, squamous cell carcinoma, Bowen's disease, lichen planus, or condylomata acuminata. We report a case of a 63-year-old male who presented to the emergency room (ER) for evaluation of an anal mass that had persisted over 6 months. The patient was found to have a rectal adenocarcinoma with pagetoid spread and underwent neoadjuvant chemoradiation with symptom improvement. However, the patient declined further chemotherapy and the pl

BACKGROUND: High-grade anal intraepithelial neoplasia (AIN III) may be premalignant. Surgical excision of large areas of anal epithelium carries significant morbidity. Ablation treatments may carry less morbidity; however, the depth of ablation is uncertain and failure to ablate dysplasia in hair shafts and other skin appendages may lead to early recurrence.
METHODS: This study assesses morphometric aspects of skin appendages in perianal skin and anal canal mucosa in tissues from 30 patients with AIN III. Both normal and dysplastic epithelium was assessed in each patient. The depth to which A

The first description of perianal fistulas and complications in Crohn disease was made 75 years ago by Penner and Crohn. Published studies have subsequently confirmed that perianal fistulas are the most common manifestations of fistulising Crohn disease. Hidradenitis suppurativa was described in 1854 by a French surgeon, Aristide Verneuil. It is a chronic, inflammatory, recurrent and debilitating disease of the pilosebaceous follicle, that usually manifests after puberty with deep, painful and inflamed lesions in the areas of the body with apocrine glands, usually the axillary, inguinal and an

Extramammary Paget's disease is a rare malignant tumor that frequently presents in areas rich in apocrine glands, most often affecting the skin of the perianal area: the labia minora, clitoris, scrotum, penis, skin of the lower abdomen, and inguinal folds. Tumors localized outside the perianal region are relatively rare. We present a clinical case of a 70-year-old patient with a tumor localized on the skin of the right axillary region, with clinical, histological, and immunohistochemical characteristics. The diagnosis of extramammary Paget's disease with atypical localization is relatively dif

Extramammary Paget's disease (EMPD) is a less common cutaneous type of cancer. It presents as erythematous plaques most frequently located in the genital region, perianal skin, and other cutaneous sites rich in apocrine glands, but it also may originate from keratinocytic stem cells. Recently, imiquimod has been used for the management of primary or relapsing extramammary Paget's disease. Complete healing, without recurrence, of extramammary Paget's disease in patients whom were treated topically with 5 % imiquimod cream was observed. We report a 78 year-old patient with scrotal and perianal e
