Holding the treatment frame: borderline features, personality functioning, and psychotherapy dropout in a youth mental health service.

Baseline personality pathology may shape both everyday functioning and engagement in psychotherapy. This study tested whether maladaptive personality trait domains and borderline symptom severity were associated with psychosocial functioning at intake and whether these variables were related to subsequent psychotherapy dropout within the same clinical pathway. Participants were 124 young adults (M age = 20.81, SD=2.30; 51.6% male and 48.4% female) assessed at intake in a youth mental health early intervention service in Milan, Italy (2024-2025). Measures included the Personality Inventory for

[Good practice in occupational health services: recommendations for prophylactic examinations and medical certifications in persons with diabetes mellitus].

The prevalence of diabetes and a significant proportion of unawareness of its risk among the patients indicate the need to include into general prophylactic examinations the standards of medical certification, which would prevent discrimination and ensure public safety. In certifying medical predispositions to work in a person with diabetes mellitus the key issue is to distinguish 2 categories of medical requirements: the higher - related to qualifying workers for jobs demanding psychophysical abilities, which affect the safety of the workers and their environment and the lower - related to qu

Mental Health in Persons With Chronic Myeloid Leukemia During the SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic: The Need for Increased Access to Health Care Services.

Mental health problems in the general population have been reported during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic; however, there were rare data in persons with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Therefore, we performed a cross-sectional study on mental health evaluated using the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9; depression), the 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7; anxiety), and the 22-item Impact of Event Scale-Revised (IES-R; distress), including subscales of avoidance, intrusion, and hyper-arousal in persons with CML, non-cancer persons, and immediate family members of persons with cancer a

HIV-positive persons who inject drugs experience poor health outcomes and unmet needs for care services.

Comparison of social determinants of health and clinical outcomes between HIV-positive persons who inject drugs (PWID) and HIV-positive persons who do not inject drugs is essential to understanding disparities and informing HIV prevention and care efforts; however, nationally representative estimates are lacking. Interview and medical record data were collected for the Medical Monitoring Project during 2015-2018 among U.S. adults with diagnosed HIV. Among HIV-positive PWID (N=340) and HIV-positive persons who do not inject drugs (N=11,475), we reported weighted percentages and prevalence ratio

A comparison of mental health outcomes in persons entering U.S. military service before and after September 11, 2001.

It has been hypothesized that those who entered military service in the pre-September 11, 2001 era might have expectations incongruent with their subsequent experiences, increasing the risk for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or other mental disorders. A subset of Millennium Cohort Study participants who joined the military during 1995-1999 was selected and compared with a subset of members who joined the military in 2002 or later. Outcomes included new-onset symptoms of PTSD, depression, panic/anxiety, and alcohol-related problems. Multivariable methods adjusted for differences in demogr

Family Connections: The Impact of an Education Program for Carers of Individuals With Borderline Personality Disorder in Italian Mental Health Services.

Borderline personality disorder (BPD) has a strong impact not only on patients' lives but also on their families. The presence of an invalidating environment is one of the key factors in the etiology of BPD. This study evaluated the impact of the Family connections (FC) program on burden, grief, and other clinical variables in 202 caregivers and identified the profiles of participants who improved/deteriorated their levels of burden and grief. Findings from generalized linear mixed models showed significant reductions in burden, grief, depression, global psychological distress, and suppressed
