[Back to school physical education despite rheumatism : Development and testing of a sport scientific-based physical education certification].

BACKGROUND: Taking part in physical education is an important element of social participation for children with chronic diseases. Nevertheless, children suffering from rheumatism mostly receive recommendations to stop sport activities either completely or partially, without underlying scientific guidelines. OBJECTIVE: The aim was the development of an IT-tool based on scientific data in order to create individualized recommendations for sport activities plus verification of its practical feasibility. MATERIAL AND METHODS: An interdisciplinary group of experts developed and approved a prototy

Prevention and treatment of injuries to runners.

1) Many otherwise healthy runners are prevented from participating fully in their chosen endurance sport because of overuse injuries. 2) The most important risk factor for incurring an overuse injury is a training error, such as excessive mileage, sudden change in training distance or intensity, too much hard interval training, improper footwear, and running on chambered surfaces. 3) Although the knee is the most frequent site of injury in runners, any part of the lower extremity may be affected. 4) Tendinitis, muscle strain, and stress fractures are the most common overuse injuries in enduran

Understanding the "how" and "why": A mixed methods process evaluation for the PRO-HIIT intervention.

INTRODUCTION: Process evaluation completes outcome evaluation by explaining "how" and "why" an intervention is (in)effective. The aim of this study was to conduct a mixed methods process evaluation for the PRO-HIIT intervention. METHODS: The PRO-HIIT intervention replaced the traditional warm-up period with 6-8 minutes of high-intensity interval training in the physical education and activity lessons, aiming to promote physical fitness, psychological parameters and academic performances among Chinese adolescents. The process evaluation was guided by the Medical Research Council guidance for t

School-Based High Intensity Interval Warm-Up Has Positive Effects on Physical Fitness in Adolescent Girls.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of HIIT training on body composition and fitness in female adolescents and compare with regular physical education classes. METHOD: A total participant sample consisted of 40 adolescent females from the secondary grammar school, who were randomly assigned to the experimental group (EG-16.44 ± 0.68 years) or the control group (CG-16.73 ± 0.62 years). The experimental group completed participation in a 12-week HIIT program, whereas the control group continued with their regular physical education classes. Testing of body compositi

Jumping Rope Improves the Physical Fitness of Preadolescents Aged 10-12 Years: A Meta-Analysis.

To systematically review the effects of jumping rope on physical fitness among 10 to 12-year-old preadolescents, and to provide evidence-based support for its use in school physical education curriculum work. The PubMed, Web of Science, SPORTDiscus, ScienceDirect, and CNKI databases were searched for randomized controlled trials that assessed jumping rope and physical fitness among preadolescents aged 10-12 years. Meta-analyses were used to calculate the standardized mean difference (SMD) values and 95% confidence intervals (CI), and subgroup analyses were conducted on intervention duration, f

A training programme to improve human physical capability for manual handling jobs.

The primary objectives of this study were to test whether the muscular endurance, muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance, and workload perception of individuals engaged in combined manual handling tasks could be improved through a short and intensive physical training programme. Two separate experiments were conducted to achieve the objectives of this study. The independent variables studied in each experiment were group type (training and control) and training session. Twenty male subjects participated in these experiments. The task performed in the first experiment was a combined liftin

Virtual reality physical education and adolescents' exercise interest and physical fitness: An explanatory sequential mixed-methods randomized trial with exploratory pathway analysis.

Traditional physical education (PE) faces declining student interest and limited fitness gains. Virtual reality (VR) offers immersive, gamified experiences, but evidence regarding its effectiveness and explanatory pathways remains limited. This explanatory sequential mixed-methods randomized trial assigned 360 adolescents (aged 13-16) from three middle schools to either VR-supported PE (n = 180) or conventional PE (n = 180) for 12 weeks, with a 4-week follow-up. Outcomes included exercise interest (validated scale), physical fitness (coordination via MABC-2, cardiorespiratory endurance via the

Rehabilitation of COPD patients: which training modality.

Non pharmacological therapy has been gaining more interest and has been evolving rapidly over the last decade as an essential part of therapy for COPD patients. Pulmonary Rehabilitation (PR), the most important non pharmacological treatment in patients with COPD, has a primary goal: to achieve the highest possible level of individual exercise tolerance, thus reducing the primary and/or secondary health care utilisation. The aim of the present review is to focus the role of exercise training in these patients as well as to address the question on which training methods are the most beneficial.

Autonomy-Supportive Teaching Enhances Prosocial and Reduces Antisocial Behavior via Classroom Climate and Psychological Needs: A Multilevel Randomized Control Intervention.

Autonomy-supportive teaching increases prosocial and decreases antisocial behavior. Previous research showed that these effects occur because autonomy-supportive teaching improves students' need states (a student-level process). However, the present study investigated whether these effects also occur because autonomy-supportive teaching improves the classroom climate (a classroom-level process). Teachers from 80 physical education classrooms were randomly assigned to participate (or not) in an autonomy-supportive teaching intervention, while their 2,227 secondary-grade students reported their

Perceived exertion during submaximal G exposures before and after physical training.

Ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) were registered at submaximal levels in G endurance tests of a combined strength and endurance training program in 17 pilots. After 12 months of physical training, the endurance G tolerance (time to exhaustion during simulated aerial combat maneuver), increased by a mean of 40% (p < 0.001), while the mean RPE at 5 min submaximal G exposure decreased by 1.2 units (p < 0.02). Following 12 months of physical training, a significant relationship was observed between the improvement of the endurance G tolerance and the decrease of the RPE at 5 min (p = 0.05). Mea

Effects of Florida's Personal Fitness Course on cognitive, attitudinal and physical fitness measures of secondary students: a pilot study.

The effects of Florida's Personal Fitness Course were studied on 60 secondary students' cognitive achievement, physical fitness, and attitude toward physical activity. Significant improvement in knowledge of fitness concepts, selected physical fitness parameters, and over-all attitude toward participation in physical activity suggests the course was effective.

Analysis of the Questioning and Dialectical Relationship between the Pursuit of Intensity in School Physical Health Education.

In the rapid development of the country and schools, physical education and health programs have gradually become an essential part of schools in order to improve students' core physical education skills and literacy, and have a very important role and impact on students' physical and mental health development. The school P&H program not only conveys to teachers and students the knowledge and training skills to improve school sports and enhance physical fitness but also fully develops the awareness and ability of teachers and students to work hard and collaborate with each other. This paper ex

Physiological adaptations to velocity-controlled resistance training.

The force-velocity characteristics of skeletal muscle are such that maximal force is inversely related to the velocity of shortening. This relationship has been observed using isolated muscle preparations and intact muscle groups (e.g. knee extensors). Isokinetic dynamometry has revealed some specific physiological adaptations to different velocities of training: an increase in torque and power that are greater at or near the velocity of training; a transfer of torque gains to slower and faster angular velocities after intermediate velocity resistance training; increases in maximal oxygen cons
