Large language model responses to patient-oriented neurointerventional queries: A multirater assessment of accuracy, completeness, safety, and actionability.

BackgroundAs large language models (LLMs) become increasingly accessible to the public, patients are turning to these tools for medical guidance - including in highly specialized fields like interventional neuroradiology. Despite their growing use, the safety, completeness, and reliability of LLM-generated information in subspecialty medicine remain unclear.MethodsFive publicly available LLMs - ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and DeepSeek - were prompted with four neurointerventional patient-facing clinical questions spanning ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, venous disorders, and proc

When Form Intersects with Automation: Ethics, Authorship, and the Future of IMRAD.

Academic dishonesty predates artificial intelligence; fabrication, plagiarism, and ghost authorship largely reflect distorted "publish or perish" incentives rather than technological novelty. We argue that using AI to assist with drafting, linguistic editing, and organizing text, tables, and figures in biology is ethically comparable to established editorial support services, provided its use is transparently disclosed and full accountability remains with human authors. At the same time, exponential growth in publication output is intensifying the peer-review bottleneck and challenging the sus

Teaching Craft Intelligence: Sovereignty Protocols for AI-Mediated Student Leadership.

Artificial intelligence (AI) now mediates how student leaders learn and decide, creating a speed imperative that often rewards algorithmic fluency over human judgment and intercultural accountability. This article argues student leadership programs can turn AI from a plagiarism risk into a laboratory for craft intelligence (transforming knowledge and lived experience into sound judgment in action) and deliberate stewardship, which safeguards how knowledge is created, tested, and shared. It maps four perils (e.g., inquiry collapse, context erasure, algorithmic authority, and cultural narrowing)

Eroding scholarly integrity: Confronting the misuse of generative AI in nursing education.

The integration of generative artificial intelligence (AI) into higher education has introduced powerful tools to support student learning. In nursing education, platforms such as ChatGPT are increasingly used to assist with brainstorming, outlining, and improving academic writing. Although these technologies offer meaningful benefits, their misuse is now creating challenges that threaten the scholarly foundations of nursing education: the misuse of AI to fabricate citations, misattribute authorship, and bypass critical scholarly engagement. The author argues that AI-driven citation fabricatio

A Study on Distinguishing ChatGPT-Generated and Human-Written Orthopaedic Abstracts by Reviewers: Decoding the Discrepancies.

BACKGROUND: ChatGPT (OpenAI Incorporated, Mission District, San Francisco, United States) is an artificial intelligence (AI)-based language model that generates human-resembling texts. This AI-generated literary work is comprehensible and contextually relevant and it is really difficult to differentiate from human-written content. ChatGPT has risen in popularity lately and is widely utilized in scholarly manuscript drafting. The aim of this study is to identify if 1) human reviewers can differentiate between AI-generated and human-written abstracts and 2) AI detectors are currently reliable in

History and First Descriptions of Autism: Asperger Versus Kanner Revisited.

When reading Michael Fitzgerald's chapter entitled 'Autism: Asperger's Syndrome-History and First Descriptions' in 'Asperger's Disorder' edited by Rausch, Johnson and Casanova, a while ago, one of us was struck by his contention that Kanner was guilty of plagiarism as well as non-attribution of Asperger's 1938 paper 'Das psychisch abnorme kind' (Fitzgerald in Asperger's disorder. Informa Healthcare, New York, 2008) published in a Vienna weekly. Steve Silberman has discovered evidence that Kanner rescued Asperger's chief diagnostician from the Nazis in 1944 so must have been aware of Asperger's

Neonatal jaundice and scientific fraud in 1804.

In 1785 the University of Paris issued a prize challenge: "Describe neonatal jaundice and distinguish between those circumstances in which jaundice needs professional help and those in which one only needs to await the course of nature." The prize was awarded to Jean Baptiste Timothée Baumes for a paper, published as a pamphlet in 1788, in which he described 10 jaundiced neonates and discussed his theories on the causes and mechanisms. In a revised edition published in 1806 Baumes accused François Bidault of plagiarism in his 1804 thesis submitted for the MD degree at the University of Paris.

Stress testing journals: a quasi-experimental study of rejection rates of a previously published paper.

BACKGROUND: When a journal receives a duplicate publication, the ability to identify the submitted work as previously published, and reject it, is an assay to publication ethics best practices. The aim of this study was to evaluate how three different types of journals, namely open access (OA) journals, subscription-based journals, and presumed predatory journals, responded to receiving a previously published manuscript for review. METHODS: We performed a quasi-experimental study in which we submitted a previously published article to a random sample of 602 biomedical journals, roughly 200 jo

Pain in systemic sclerosis.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

Chronic pain is a healthcare problem that significantly affects the mental health, and the professional and private life of patients. It can complicate many disorders and represents a common symptom of rheumatologic diseases, but the data on its prevalence is still limited. Pain is a ubiquitous problem in systemic sclerosis (SSc). SSc-related pain has been studied on the basis of biomedical models and is considered a symptom caused by the disease activity or previous tissue damage. Effective pain management is a primary goal of the treatment strategy, although this symptom in SSc has not yet b

[Animal Societies Or Animal Colonies?].

In 1877, Alfred Espinas defended his PhD dissertation Animal Societies. In 1881, his former fellow student at the École normale supérieure, Edmond Perrier, meanwhile a full professor at the National Museum of Natural History, published Animal Colonies. Because of their similar views on the equivalence of social and organic structures, the two books were often equated posthumously despite the tense relationship between their authors, which received little to no scrutiny. Taking a socio-historical perspective on institutions and academic careers, this paper examines Espinas’s bitter criticism of

Early depiction of anterior spinal arteries and veins in André du Laurens's Historia anatomica humani corporis (1600).

Scholars usually consider the Historia anatomica corporis humani, published in 1600 by André du Laurens, as an obsolete defense of Galenic principles against the novelty of Vesalian material. Although du Laurens's book plagiarized many illustrations from Vesalius's De humani corporis fabrica (1543), critics such as Choulant insisted that the Historia's iconography had "no particular anatomical or artistic value." However, four of the Historia's engravings appear to be original. One of these, the Tabula hæc veram spinalis medullae et nervorum ab ea prodeuntium effigiem exprimit, is now famous f

Psychological effects of thought acceleration.

Six experiments found that manipulations that increase thought speed also yield positive affect. These experiments varied in both the methods used for accelerating thought (i.e., instructions to brainstorm freely, exposure to multiple ideas, encouragement to plagiarize others' ideas, performance of easy cognitive tasks, narration of a silent video in fast-forward, and experimentally controlled reading speed) and the contents of the thoughts that were induced (from thoughts about money-making schemes to thoughts of five-letter words). The results suggested that effects of thought speed on mood
