Indian Society of Periodontology Good Clinical Practice Recommendations for dental pain management and use of analgesics.

Pain is one of the most frequent reasons for seeking dental care and significantly influences patient comfort, treatment acceptance, and clinical outcomes. Effective management of dental pain requires accurate diagnosis, timely intervention, and the rational use of analgesics supported by evidence-based clinical decision-making. Recognizing the need for structured guidance for everyday dental practice, the Indian Society of Periodontology has developed Good Clinical Practice Recommendations on Pain Management and the Use of Analgesics in Dental Clinics. These recommendations were formulated by

Minimal intervention dentistry II: part 2. Management of caries and periodontal risks in general dental practice.

The long-term clinical management of caries and periodontal diseases requires a double approach, one that is concerned with both treatment and prevention. Dentists should recognise the risk factors and their likely triggers to be able to implement the right strategy as early as the diagnostic phase. This comprehensive assessment can easily be done in general practice. All it takes is to combine the patient's general information with the systemic and behavioural factors, and the clinical observations with the local factors. The resulting patient profile can thus effectively support treatment by

The management of supernumerary teeth in childhood--a retrospective study of practice in Bristol Dental Hospital, England and Westmead Dental Hospital, Sydney, Australia.

This study compared the treatment provided for patients with supernumerary teeth in Bristol Dental Hospital with those in Westmead Dental Hospital, Sydney, Australia. The records of 63 children referred for removal of a supernumerary tooth in Bristol and 96 children in Westmead were examined, involving a total of 215 supernumerary teeth. Differences in the treatment provided for these patients were found not only between the two centres but also within one centre. There appeared to be no standardised route by which these patients were seen and therefore no standardised pattern of treatment. Co

[Interpretation of the American Dental Association practice guidelines for the management of acute dental pain with pharmacotherapy (2023-2024) and its clinical implications for China].

Acute toothache is a common dental emergency. In 2023 and 2024, the American Dental Association successively issued evidence‑based clinical practice guidelines for the pharmacologic management of acute dental pain in children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, establishing a new system that prioritizes nonsteroidal anti‑inflammatory drugs, strictly limits opioids, and implements age‑specific precise management. This article systematically interprets the evidence‑based foundation and age‑specific medication regimens of the guidelines. By integrating relevant Chinese diagnostic and treatmen
