OBJECTIVE: To describe the natural history and outcomes of a large cohort of expectantly managed angular pregnancies diagnosed in the first trimester by specific ultrasound criteria.
METHODS: We conducted a prospective case series of women with prenatally diagnosed angular pregnancy at a single academic tertiary care center from March 2017 to February 2019. Participants were identified at first-trimester ultrasound scan using specifically proposed diagnostic criteria for angular pregnancy and followed prospectively. Maternal and fetal data were gathered from the medical record.
RESULTS: Fort

Ectopic pregnancies are one of the most common causes of obstetric mortality worldwide. Interstitial ectopic pregnancies, defined as an extracavitary pregnancy within the portion of the Fallopian tube that transverses the myometrium, have reported mortality rates approximately seven times higher than all types of ectopic pregnancy combined. In contrast, intracavitary eccentric gestations, often labeled as "cornual" or "angular" pregnancies, have reportedly high rates of live birth. Unfortunately, the terms "interstitial," "cornual," and "angular" have long been used with varying diagnostic cri

BACKGROUND: In the literature, the terms "angular", "interstitial" and "cornual" have often been inappropriately interchanged. The consequence is under-recognition of their differences as well as inaccurate imaging guidelines which do not reliably distinguish them as distinct entities. Angular pregnancies should be considered viable and may be managed to term.
CASE: A woman at 7w5d was transferred for surgical management of a presumed interstitial ectopic pregnancy. Sonography and MRI confirmed an eccentric fundal pregnancy with a thin myometrial mantle of 2-5 mm; the diagnosis of interstitia

Angular pregnancy (AP) or implantation of the embryo in the lateral angle of the uterine cavity close to the internal ostium of the fallopian tube is a very rare event. In fact, angular pregnancy refers to implantation of the embryo just medial to the uterotubal junction, in the lateral angle of the uterine cavity. AP must be distinguished, anatomically, from interstitial pregnancy by its position in relation to the round ligament, which crosses the Müllerian duct at the side of the uterotubal junction. AP is associated with a high rate of complications such as bleeding and ruptured uterus due

We present a clinical report of angular ectopic pregnancy at 22 weeks without uterine rupture. This is a rare and dangerous form of ectopic pregnancy that is very difficult to diagnose and can mimic an intrauterine normal pregnancy following by uterine rupture with hypovolemic shock and risk of maternal death. Angular pregnancy must be differentiating for others forms of ectopic pregnancy like interstitial, cornual and intramural pregnancy to meet a correct clinical and hystopahtological diagnosis, to identify the signs when the uterine rupture appear imminent, and to take the best therapeutic

Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of hysteroscopy combined with ultrasound or laparoscopy in the treatment of angular pregnancy. Methods: The clinical and pathological data of 22 patients with angular pregnancy who were treated at Fu Xing Hospital, Capital Medical University from January 2008 to June 2025 were retrospectively analyzed. According to the type of angular pregnancy, minimally invasive surgery was performed using hysteroscopy combined with ultrasound or laparoscopy. Operative time, intraoperative blood loss and therapeutic outcomes were assessed. Results: A

Interstitial, angular, and cornual pregnancies and intrauterine pregnancies in an anomalous uterus are separate entities, and the impact of each condition on obstetric outcomes is completely different. However, there is considerable confusion in understanding and managing the natural course of each condition due to a lack of uniform terminology. The single most important factor for differentiating these types of pregnancies is to make an early diagnosis. The differences between interstitial, angular, and cornual pregnancies on 2-dimensional (2D) sonography are subtle. Although magnetic resonan

Angular pregnancies are rare and difficult to diagnose. Evidence suggests they are associated with a higher risk of intrauterine growth restriction and abnormal third stage of labor due to a retained placenta. The lack of standardized AP diagnostic criteria impacts on their correct identification and makes the treatment of potential complications challenging. We present a case of the successful conservative surgical management of a retained placenta after a term AP also complicated by intrauterine growth restriction. Moreover, to identify the best evidence regarding AP diagnostic criteria and

For all clinical purposes, cornual, angular, and interstitial pregnancies are considered ectopic pregnancies that can have grave consequences for the patient. In this article, we describe and distinguish 3 types of ectopic pregnancies in the cornual region of the uterus. The authors advocate using the "cornual pregnancy" term only for ectopic pregnancies in malformed uteruses. We describe an ectopic pregnancy in a 25-year-old G2P1 patient in the cornual region of the uterus that was missed twice sonographically in the second trimester and had almost fatal consequences in the patient. INTRODUCTION: Currently, the treatment strategies for angular pregnancy in the first trimester after assisted reproduction technology (ART) are unclear. Improper treatment will cause unnecessary losses to patients, especially infertile patients, after ART. The purpose of this study was to clarify the pregnancy outcomes of expectant treatment for angular pregnancy post-ART and to provide a basis for the formulation of clinical treatment strategies.
METHOD: This retrospective case series study was performed at the Reproductive Medicine Center of a university hospital. Maternal data and pregnanc

OBJECTIVE: The probability of embryo implantation in an abnormal location is significantly higher in assisted reproductive technology (ART) than in natural pregnancies. Angular pregnancy is an eccentric intrauterine pregnancy with embryo implantation in the lateral superior angle of the uterine cavity. Cycle-level factors associated with angular pregnancy in patients conceived with ART needed to be explored.
METHODS: A total of 11 336 clinical pregnancies cycles were included. Angular pregnancy rate was compared among groups according to the type of embryos transferred. Among them, 53 cases o

INTRODUCTION: Ectopic pregnancy is the most common cause of mortality during the first trimester of pregnancy, and intrauterine ectopic pregnancies show significantly higher morbidity and mortality than extrauterine ones. Despite being less invasive, safety and effectiveness of the hysteroscopic treatment are still unclear. Moreover, such approach is not standardized. We aimed to evaluate safety and effectiveness of hysteroscopic intact removal of angular or cesarean section scar pregnancies, defining a novel and markedly less invasive hysteroscopic technique with a 5-mm Bettocchi hysteroscope

The differential diagnosis of acute abdominal pain in pregnancy is broad and can be complicated by atypical manifestations that are due to the anatomic distortions and physiologic changes of pregnancy. Due to the lack of clinical understanding, angular pregnancy does not appear to be recognized as a clinical entity and many cases are likely to go undiagnosed. This is a case report of a 34-year-old woman who was referred to the obstetrics emergency department with sudden abdominal pain and in a state of hypovolemic shock. She had 20 weeks amenorrhea with a positive blood pregnancy test. She und

An angular pregnancy is a rare form of ectopic implantation. We report a 30-year-old primigravida presenting with an abnormal beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (b-hCG) trend. At presentation, her b-hCG was 1,950 mIU/mL. Ultrasound showed an angular gestational sac with increased vascularization and deep myometrial extension. Methotrexate was administered, achieving biochemical response but with persistent suspicious ultrasound findings, suggesting ongoing trophoblastic activity. Due to this discordance, hysteroscopic management was performed. The gestational tissue was exposed and removed usin

BACKGROUND: The sit-to-stand transition is a key movement influenced by coordination, balance, and lower-limb strength. While laboratory-based studies show slower sit-to-stand angular velocity during pregnancy, free-living sit-to-stand angular velocity and its relationship to pregnancy-related discomforts remain unclear.
PURPOSE: This study examined differences between the second and third trimesters of pregnancy in free-living sit-to-stand angular velocity, movement behaviours, and discomfort frequency, and assessed whether changes in sit-to-stand angular velocity predicted discomfort change

BACKGROUND: Angular pregnancy is a rare form of eccentric intrauterine gestation. To determine the management strategy, angular pregnancy should be differentiated from interstitial pregnancy and cornual pregnancy.
CASE: A 37-year-old woman (gravida 5, para 4) with no previous disease history was referred because of a retained placenta with hemorrhage 20 days following the manual vacuum aspiration of an intrauterine pregnancy performed after the diagnosis of miscarriage at 8 weeks of gestation. At the initial examination, a prominent vascular mass was identified in the left lateral portion of

RATIONALE: Hysteroscopic morcellation is an alternative approach for the removal of placental remnants, given its advantages of safety, efficiency and good reproductive outcomes. This superiority can be even more obvious for removing persistent placental remnants in the lateral angle of the uterine cavity after repeated dilation and curettage (D&C) of an angular pregnancy, which is rarely reported.
PATIENT CONCERNS: Two patients who were both initially misdiagnosed as having missed intrauterine miscarriages underwent repeated suction-assisted D&C procedures and were found to have persistent p
