Perceptions and experiences of Australian speech-language pathologists who use the Lidcombe Program with children who stutter.

Purpose: Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) have varying levels of training and experience working with children who stutter (CWS). They often work in contexts and populations that require clinical management to take them beyond the borders of translating clinical trial protocols and evidence-based practice (EBP). This study sought to investigate the clinical experiences of Australian SLPs working with CWS, including their Lidcombe Program confidence and practices. Method: A cross-sectional online survey was completed by 215 Australian SLPs during 2017-2020. They were recruited prior to atten

Treating conduct disorder: An effectiveness and natural language analysis study of a new family-centred intervention program.

This paper reports on a new family-centred, feedback-informed intervention focused on evaluating therapeutic outcomes and language changes across treatment for conduct disorder (CD). The study included 26 youth and families from a larger randomised, controlled trial (Ronan et al., in preparation). Outcome measures reflected family functioning/youth compliance, delinquency, and family goal attainment. First- and last-treatment session audio files were transcribed into more than 286,000 words and evaluated through the Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count Analysis program (Pennebaker et al., 2007).

From Innovation to Impact: The CREATE Framework as a Blueprint for Large Language Model Adoption in Opioid Treatment Programs.

Large language model (LLM)-based systems have tremendous potential to improve patient-centered health care, especially for medically underserved populations. However, realizing this potential requires careful consideration of the socio-technical contexts in which LLMs are used. The design of such systems should consider the vulnerabilities of any medically underserved group that the system intends to support, and provide trustworthy evidence for its use. This viewpoint reports the lessons learned from our experience and research with the CREATE (Culture, Respect, Education, Advancement, Trust,

Development of a health literacy-based hypertension self-management education program using sign language for Deaf individuals.

BACKGROUND: While there is some research on hypertension self-management programs for individuals with profound hearing loss who use sign language as their primary mode of communication (commonly referred to as Deaf), there is no systematic program that considers their unique needs and health literacy. Given the high prevalence of hypertension among Deaf individuals and their vulnerability to limited health literacy, we developed the Hypertension Self-Management Education for the Hearing-Impaired using Sign Language (H-SMILE) program, focusing on health literacy. METHODS: Following the Analys

Image-based quantification of Candida albicans filamentation and hyphal length using the open-source visual programming language JIPipe.

The formation of hyphae is one of the most crucial virulence traits the human pathogenic fungus Candida albicans possesses. The assessment of hyphal length in response to various stimuli, such as exposure to human serum, provides valuable insights into the adaptation strategies of C. albicans to the host environment. Despite the increasing high-throughput capacity live-cell imaging and data generation, the accurate analysis of hyphal growth has remained a laborious, error-prone, and subjective manual process. We developed an analysis pipeline utilizing the open-source visual programming langua

[AA Challenge: An interactive French-language educational program on the causes of AA amyloidosis - Analysis of 2,597 responses to 12 clinical quizzes].

INTRODUCTION: AA amyloidosis (inflammatory amyloidosis) is a rare but serious complication of chronic inflammatory diseases. Its etiological spectrum is broad, potentially contributing to delayed diagnosis, particularly when the underlying cause is rare or poorly recognized. We developed the AA Challenge, an interactive French-language online educational program based on clinical cases, to improve the recognition of the causes of AA amyloidosis among French-speaking physicians. METHODS: The AA Challenge was an international, year-long educational program for French-speaking physicians. It con
