STUDY DESIGN: This retrospective chart review identified patients up to 8-years of age with primary second molars treated by pulpectomy or extraction. Patients in the extraction group were age and gender-matched to the pulpectomy group. Demographic, clinical, radiographic and behavioral data were extracted for comparison. The case of recidivous sexual offender with genetically caused mental retardation and primary hypogonadism (Klinefelter's syndrome with karyotype 48, XXXY) is described. He was examined after sadistic abuse of a boy aged 13 that he had committed 19 years after performed testicular pulpectomy. Plasmatic level of testosterone was found 4x higher than mean level in men after orchidectomy. Histological examination of residual scrotal tissues proved that the source of androgens were hyperplastic nodules of extratesticular Leydig cells.

Post-operative pain between single-visit and multiple-visit pulpectomy in 50 children (ages 6-10 years) with irreversible pulpitis is compared. Participants were divided into two groups-Group A (single-visit) and Group B (multiple-visit) and pain was assessed using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) at 6, 24, 48 and 72-hours post-operative. Group A consistently reported significantly lower pain levels (P < 0.05) than Group B. Thus, single-visit pulpectomy reduces post-operative pain more effectively thereby enhancing patient comfort and satisfaction.

A retrospective study of all the patients' records (> 6000) in a pediatric dental practice was done to assess ZOE retention after a pulpectomized primary tooth was lost and the succedaneous tooth erupted.
