PURPOSE: Strong durable bonds between resin cements and metal alloys are critical to the success of resin-bonded, resin-veneered, or resin-retained prostheses. However, few comprehensive, comparative evaluations of materials or the fatigue effects of thermal cycling have been reported. The rate of strength loss may be a more important predictor of long-term success than bond strength. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of artificial aging by thermal cycling and resin cement type on the bond strengths to a base metal alloy.

Pedicle screw stability is poor in osteopenic vertebrae attributable, in part, to low screw-bone interface strength. The current authors examined cement augmentation using a low curing temperature hydroxyapatite and bis-phenol-A glycidol methacrylate-based composite resin. This cement may stiffen the screw-bone interface and reduce the harmful effects associated with polymethylmethacrylate regarding temperature and toxic monomer. Thirty-five lumbar vertebrae from human cadavers were instrumented with pedicle screws, with one pedicle previously injected with cement and the other as the control.

OBJECTIVES: The choice of retention mechanism in implant-supported restorations (ISRs) strongly influences biological outcomes, with cement-retained ISRs linked to peri-implant complications due to excess cement. Factors such as crown design, margin location, and cement type affect the extent of residual cement and its clinical implications.
MATERIAL & METHODS: This prospective, two-arm, non-randomized clinical trial compared cement remnants of self-adhesive resin (RC) and resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGIC) cement in 30 patients, and 60 ISR. Comparisons were performed on identical pairs of

This study aimed to propose an evaluation method for testing the mechanical strength of film-formed self-adhesive resin cements (SARCs) while reflecting cement layer thickness. Three commercially available dual-cure type SARCs were used for tensile and shear tests using specimens with varying thicknesses (0.05, 0.2, and 0.4 mm). There were no significant differences in tensile strengths among the various specimen thicknesses. In the shear test, there was a significant decrease in the strength with a reduction in specimen thickness. Stress distribution and fracture patterns were analyzed using

Unlike conventional water-soluble luting cements, which gradually dissolve in oral fluids and partially self-correct over time, polymerized resin cement is insoluble and will not be displaced from the restoration margin without active mechanical intervention. This case report describes the qualitative analysis of the cementation line of three metal-ceramic crowns 1 year after placement using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the replica technique, and the subsequent clinical management. A 45-year-old female patient presented with crowns on Teeth 11, 21, and 22 cemented with a self-adhesiv

Tooth fragment reattachment in cases of enamel/dentin fracture is based on adhesive protocols and is indicated because of its technique simplicity. Complex cases of root fracture or extensive coronal damage demand the integration of biological properties with the mechanical characteristics of the restorative materials. This paper is a report from one patient with a favourable result that addresses the clinical procedures involved in the association of resin-modified glass ionomer cement and composite resin for cases of coronal fracture of anterior teeth with invasion of the periodontal biologi

BACKGROUND: Self-adhesive resin cements (SARCs) are widely used in the field of restorative dentistry due to their simplified application and adequate bonding properties. However, their long-term color and surface stability, particularly under the influence of pigment-rich dietary substances, remain a critical concern in aesthetic restorations.
OBJECTIVES: The aim of the study was to evaluate the color stability and surface roughness of 4 contemporary SARCs after immersion in various staining media using digital photography.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: A total of 160 disc-shaped specimens (n = 40

BACKGROUND: Resin cements often require substrate-specific pretreatment. Recently, universal adhesive systems have been introduced, simplifying procedures by eliminating the need for multiple adhesives and offering options that do not require light curing. This study investigated the bonding performance of universal adhesive systems combined with dual-polymerising resin cements on enamel, dentin, zirconia, lithium disilicate ceramics (LDS), and resin blocks.
METHODS: Two universal adhesive and dual-polymerising resin cement combinations from the same manufacturer were tested: Bondmer Lightles

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: Zirconia frameworks luted on titanium bases have been increasingly used for implant-supported prostheses. A reliable bond strength between the framework and the base is a key factor for clinical success. Autoclaving of the abutments before clinical use has been strongly suggested since abutments have been classified as class II medical devices. However, comprehensive knowledge on the susceptibility of the composite resin luting agents' adhesion to autoclave sterilization is lacking.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this in vitro study was to assess the bond strength between zirco

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of steam autoclave sterilization on the tensile strength of two types of resin cements used to bond customized CAD/CAM zirconia abutments onto titanium bases. Forty sets of zirconia abutments cemented to screwed titanium bases of implants analogs were divided into 4 groups (n = 10). Two groups were treated with a conventional chemically activated resin cement (ML, Multilink Ivoclar Vivadent) and the other two groups with a self-adhesive dual resin cement (RelyX U200, 3M ESPE). One group from each cement was submitted to steam autoclaving. T
