BACKGROUND: Temporal hair loss has been reported to occur in up to 8.4% of patients after rhytidectomy. To date, no one has described the associated histopathologic findings.
OBJECTIVE: The objective was to illustrate the microscopic findings seen in the affected area of hair loss after rhytidectomy.
METHODS: Two punch biopsies from the temporal area were performed, and pathologic material was submitted.
RESULTS: Histopathologic finding was suggestive of acute localized telogen effluvium.

In spite of adequate preoperative evaluation, lagophthalmos may appear during a brow lift procedure if the patient has had a prior upper lid blepharoplasty. The subperiosteal midface lift is a powerful tool that allows the surgeon to reposition the SOOF and malar fat pad in a vertical direction. With a greater understanding of the aging process and relevant anatomy, the facial plastic surgeon has an expansive armamentarium of options for midface rejuvenation. Upon reflection, our practice has evolved over the years and only recently found a select number of interventions that have consistently produced excellent results.
