A 32-year-old woman was admitted to our department for hematuria and dysuria.Computed tomography (CT) and cystoscopy revealed a 2-cm pedunculated tumor with rich blood supply and a smooth surface in the bladder trigone. We performed a transurethral resection of bladder tumor. The pathologic diagnosis was alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS). CT, bone scintigraphy, positron emission tomography, and pelvic magnetic resonance imaging revealed no other lesions; thus, she was diagnosed as having a primary bladder ASPS. Postoperative follow-up with regular cystoscopies and CTs over 10 years have shown

Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is a rare type of neoplasm, typically occurring in adolescents and young adults. Because of the rarity of this disease, there is no standard treatment plan. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy are not effective in this type of malignancy. Surgical excision is considered to be the treatment of choice. We report a case of a young woman with a painless mass in her left lower abdomen. Ultrasonography and CT scan revealed a large (21 cm) hard tumor occupying the left retroperitoneal space, which was surgically excised in our surgery department. The pathological diagnosis

Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is a rare mesenchymal tumor, accounting for <1 % of all soft tissue sarcomas. It appears mainly in young adults, has a female predominance and follows an indolent natural history. Like other sarcomas, it can metastasize to the lungs, liver, bones and the brain, but unusual sites have also been described, including the vagina, the orbit, colonic mucosa and the breast. This paper presents a case report of a 31-year-old patient with metastatic ASPS, who developed two highly vascular breast nodules that following an excisional biopsy, were shown to represent metas

Between 1985 and 1993, six patients were surgically treated for alveolar soft-part sarcoma (ASPS) arising from the thighs or buttocks, four of whom underwent aggressive excision of multiple metastases using a neodymium:yttrium-aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) laser. In total, 333 tumors were removed from these four patients during eight pulmonary operations. In patients 1, 3, and 4, uncontrollable extrapulmonary involvement and/or local recurrence at the primary site were noted during their treatment course, and they died of tumor progression 40, 68, and 46 months after excision of the primary lesion,

Superficial tumors cause pain and bleeding. Treatment not only involves tumor control but must also provide symptom relief and repair tissues. Cryoablation is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive technique used to treat malignant tumors. It offers unique advantages in managing superficial tumors. It destroys tumor cell structure via low temperatures, induces necrosis and sloughing of tumor tissue, and reduces tumor burden. Additionally, it enhances the repair of local tissues, promotes wound healing, and improves the patient's quality of life. We report a case of a patient with exophytic

This study presents a rare case of acinar soft tissue sarcoma and provides a detailed analysis of its multi-parameter quantitative functional MRI (fMRI) characteristics. The patient, a 16-year-old male, was diagnosed with acinar soft tissue sarcoma after presenting with a progressively enlarging mass in the right thigh. To determine the extent and nature of the lesion, MRI examinations were performed using conventional plain scans, contrast-enhanced scans, dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI), and intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) for quantitative analysis. INTRODUCTION: Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS), a rare soft tissue malignant neoplasm, frequently metastasizes to the brain. However, primary intracranial ASPS is extremely rare. We present a case of primary intracranial ASPS arising from the cerebellopontine angle (CPA) without demonstrable systemic lesions.
CASE REPORT: An 11-year-old girl presented with a recurrent tumor in the right CPA after a partial resection and radiation therapy (RT). Near-total resection with a minimal tumor left in the jugular foramen was performed. The pathological diagnosis was ASPS. There was no evidence of pri

Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is a rare aggressive soft tissue sarcoma of young adults, typically arising in the deep soft tissue of lower extremities. Although cytomorphology is characteristic enough for an accurate diagnosis in typical clinical scenarios, problems arise when it occurs in older patients, atypical sites, or in primary evaluation at metastatic sites. A 48-year-old smoker presented with breathlessness and headache for 2 months. Imaging showed a heterogeneous enhancing lesion of 6 cm × 6 cm in right middle lobe of lung, smaller miliary nodules in bilateral lungs, multiple bil

Alveolar soft-part sarcoma (ASPS) is a rare and often fatal tumor. Overall survival rates have been reported to be 62% after 5 years, 42% after 10 years, and 18% after 20 years. ASPS accounts for 5% of all pediatric soft-tissue sarcomas other than rhabdomyosarcomas. In children, ASPS rarely occurs in the oral cavity, and to the best of our knowledge, only 12 cases of ASPS of the tongue occurring during the first decade of life have been previously reported in the literature. Because of the rarity of lingual ASPS in children, no specific treatment protocols have been developed, which makes its

BACKGROUND: Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) rarely is subjected to cytopathologic evaluation. With the exception of some very small series, the literature is limited to case reports. The objectives of the current study were to evaluate the cytomorphology of 10 ASPS cases on fine-needle aspiration (FNA) or imprint cytology, review the literature, and highlight potential diagnostic pitfalls.
METHODS: The authors searched their files for all lesions that were signed out as ASPS or suspicious for ASPS and searched the surgical pathology files for any cases of ASPS that had corresponding cytolog

We presented four patients (3 women, 1 man; mean age 40 years; range 20 to 56 years) who had alveolar soft part sarcoma in the left arm, right elbow, right tibia, and left thigh, respectively. All the patients presented with a mass. Two patients had lung metastasis at the time of diagnosis. T1- and T2-weighted magnetic resonance images of all the patients showed a soft tissue lesion with hyperintense signal changes and heterogeneous contrast enhancement. Diagnoses were made by histopathologic examination of biopsy samples. All the patients received chemotherapy. Surgical resection was performe

Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is a rare malignant tumour that is considered to lack a normal cell counterpart and is commonly associated with a poorer prognosis. Etio-pathologically, it has been associated with alveolar soft part sarcoma critical region-1-transcription factor for immunoglobulin heavy chain enhancer 3 fusion gene. Diagnosis is usually confirmed through histopathology, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and molecular testing. Being chemo-resistant, surgical excision with clear margins is the primary treatment, with radiation therapy considered adjuvant in advanced cases. Deceptively

Alveolar soft-part sarcoma (ASPS), a rare and malignant neoplasm of soft tissues, comprises less than 1% of all soft-tissue sarcomas and is characterized by distinct histopathological and molecular markers. A 27-year-old female presented with a history of postcoital vaginal bleeding and intermittent bleeding over the preceding month. Imaging studies identified abnormal echogenicity and vascular patterns in the posterior cervical lip. Initial histopathological assessment indicated a perivascular epithelioid cell tumor (PEComa) with TFE3 gene rearrangement; however, subsequent immunohistochemica

Alveolar soft part sarcoma is a rare neoplasm of uncertain histogenesis that belongs to a newly defined category of ultra-rare sarcomas. The neoplasm is characterized by a specific chromosomal translocation, der (17) t(X; 17)(p11.2;q25), that results in ASPSCR1-TFE3 gene fusion. The natural history of alveolar soft part sarcoma describes indolent behaviour with slow progression in deep soft tissues of the extremities, trunk and head/neck in adolescents and young adults. A high rate of detection of distant metastasis at presentation has been reported, and the most common metastatic sites in dec

Alveolar soft-part sarcoma is a rare type of soft tissue malignant tumor. Although the tumor can occur in many parts of the body, primary alveolar soft-part sarcoma of the lung is extremely rare. According to previous literature, only 3 cases of primary alveolar soft-part sarcoma of the lung were reported, and no comprehensive analysis was conducted on these cases. Here, we describe another case of alveolar soft-part sarcoma in the lung, where the negative results of immunohistochemical staining cause extreme difficulty in distinguishing this lesion from other tumors. A 30-year-old Chinese mal

BACKGROUND: Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is an extremely rare neoplasm that tends to occur in the lower limbs of children and adolescents. Metastatic breast tumors constitute 0.5-2.0% of all malignant mammary neoplasms, and cases of ASPS with mammary metastases are very rare.
CASE PRESENTATION: Three years ago, an 11-year-old girl presented to the hospital with pain in the right jaw after becoming aware of a mass in the right cheek. After detailed examination, the patient was diagnosed with ASPS with the primary tumor in the right cheek and multiple lung metastases, and chemotherapeutic

In order to clarify the histogenesis of alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS), an immunohistochemical and biochemical study was performed on three cases. The immunohistochemical study indicated the presence of actin, desmin, vimentin, and Z-protein in all cases. On the other hand, intermediate filaments other than desmin and vimentin were not detected immunohistochemically. The presence of desmin and Z-protein strongly suggests the myogenic character of this tumor. As to whether ASPS shows striated muscle differentiation or smooth muscle differentiation, the immunohistochemical absence of myoglobi

RATIONALE: The multi-targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitors such as cediranib, sunitinib and pazopanib have been reported to be effective for alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS). The efficacy of pazopanib for the patient with lingual ASPS has yet to be reported.
PATIENT CONCERNS: A 23-year old man presented with articulation disorder and swelling of the tongue. Diagnosis of lingual ASPS was made after incisional biopsy and complete excision of the mass was performed. Three months later, he presented with a protruding mental region.
DIAGNOSES: Computed tomography revealed mental region mass and lu
