Updated Clinical Consensus and Measurement Gaps in Self-Monitoring Fertility Tracking Technologies for Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.

Self-monitoring fertility tracking technologies are widely used by women with polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS; until recently referred to as polycystic ovary syndrome) to track menstrual cycles and guide conception planning. However, the performance of these tools remains unclear. Most self-monitoring fertility technologies rely on single-domain physiologic signals and predictive algorithms developed in populations with regular ovulatory cycles, which limits their applicability in the setting of ovulatory dysfunction, endocrine variability, and metabolic heterogeneity characteri

Preliminary study of the contraceptive effect of a self-assembling intrauterine device (iUPODs) in mares maintained in a paddock with a fertile stallion.

There is an urgent need for practical methods of population control (i.e., contraception and/or sterilization) for free-roaming (i.e., "wild" or "feral") horses and burros on Western Public Lands in the United States. The objective of this study was to evaluate the contraceptive efficacy of a novel self-assembling three-part polymer-coated magnetic intrauterine device termed as an intrauterine POD (self-assembling; iUPOD) when there are natural breeding conditions when iUPOD use was managed by veterinary professionals with no prior experience with the device. Six mares were administered an iUP

The effect of supportive counseling on self-esteem of infertile women after in vitro fertilization (IVF) failure: a randomized controlled trial study.

BACKGROUND: The unsuccessful treatment of infertility can lead to heightened levels of negative emotions, which are often associated with various psychological consequences. These consequences may include a decrease in self-confidence, feelings of loneliness, reduced self-esteem, and even discontinuation of treatment. Therefore, it is crucial to implement interventions that can help improve these consequences for women who have experienced IVF failure. The present study aimed to examine the effect of supportive counseling on self-esteem of infertile women after IVF failure. METHODS: this rand

Burdens and awareness of adverse self-reported lifestyle factors in men with sub-fertility: A cross-sectional study in 1149 men.

BACKGROUND: There are no current pharmacological therapies to improve sperm quality in men with sub-fertility. Reducing the exposure to lifestyle risk factor (LSF) is currently the only intervention for improving sperm quality in men with sub-fertility. No previous study has investigated what proportion of men with sub-fertility are exposed to adverse lifestyle factors. Furthermore, it is not known to what extent men with sub-fertility are aware of lifestyle factors potentially adversely impacting their fertility. METHODS: A cross-sectional anonymous questionnaire-based study on self-reported

Cloning and differential expression of estrogen receptor and aromatase genes in the self-fertilizing hermaphrodite and male mangrove rivulus, Kryptolebias marmoratus.

The mechanisms underlying sex determination and differentiation in fishes are labile in response to environmental parameters. Sex-specific phenotypes are largely regulated by sex steroids, and the inhibition or the stimulation of aromatase can reverse sex as well as alter secondary sexual characteristics in fishes. Among vertebrates, the mangrove rivulus is the only known self-fertilizing hermaphrodite. Throughout most of its range, rivulus appear to exist as clonally reproducing hermaphrodites. However, outcrossing has been documented in Belize, where up to 25% of rivulus collected are males.

Higher Rates of Protein Evolution in the Self-Fertilizing Plant Arabidopsis thaliana than in the Out-Crossers Arabidopsis lyrata and Arabidopsis halleri.

The common transition from out-crossing to self-fertilization in plants decreases effective population size. This is expected to result in a reduced efficacy of natural selection and in increased rates of protein evolution in selfing plants compared with their outcrossing congeners. Prior analyses, based on a very limited number of genes, detected no differences between the rates of protein evolution in the selfing Arabidopsis thaliana compared with the out-crosser Arabidopsis lyrata. Here, we reevaluate this trend using the complete genomes of A. thaliana, A. lyrata, Arabidopsis halleri, and

Self-Assembled Peptide Hydrogels Loaded with Umbilical Cord-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Repairing Injured Endometrium and Restoring Fertility.

Endometrial injury is a major cause of infertility and recurrent miscarriage. However, no clinically available methods currently exist to effectively repair the damaged endometrium. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have emerged as a promising therapeutic approach for promoting tissue regeneration, yet a biocompatible scaffold capable of delivering MSCs and supporting their growth is needed. Herein, the study reports a peptide hydrogel scaffold, self-assembled from a peptide IVK8-RGD consisting of an ionic complementary peptide sequence IEVEIRVK and a bioactive sequence RGD, to load umbilical cord
