BACKGROUND: Testicular Sertoli cell tumor (SCT) is very rare sex cord-gonadal stromal tumor, and sclerosing SCT (SSCT) is even rarer. So far, no more than 50 cases of SSCT have been reported. 80% of SSCTs are less than 2 cm in diameter, large volume mass is pretty unusual. SSCT is usually benign with very low malignant potential. However, it is easily misdiagnosed as a malignant tumor resulting in the removal of the entire testicle.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 55-year-old Chinese male patient presented with a six months' history of right testis progressively enlargement and negative tumor markers. T

BACKGROUND/AIM: Ovarian Sertoli cell tumors (SCTs) are a rare subgroup of gonadal ovarian neoplasms. They typically occur in young patients and are usually benign. We present a case report of an elderly patient with uterine maldevelopment in whom a gigantic ovarian SCT was diagnosed.
CASE REPORT: A 62-year-old woman presented to the emergency department for treatment of a lower limb infection. She additionally reported abdominal girth, loss of appetite, and a sensation of epigastric fullness. Physical examination revealed an abdominal mass. Imaging showed a massive tumor measuring approximate

A case of Sertoli-stromal cell tumor of the right ovary is reported. The patient was a 50-year-old perimenopausal woman with abdominal distention due to a large pelvic tumor. She had no signs of androgen excess. A large solid sponge-like tumor with multicystic areas throughout, in which there were some small hemorrhagic spots, was shown on magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. No endometrial thickening of the uterus was seen. Pathology examination revealed a Sertoli-stromal cell tumor with intermediate-to-poor differentiation. The edematous, watery, sponge-like appearance on the MR images correlate

Seventeen cases of Sertoli cell tumor in dogs were found by searching medical records from 1971 to 1985. The average age of affected dogs was ten years, and most animals were of mixed breed. Most of the dogs were presented for reasons unrelated to the Sertoli cell tumor, however, most dogs had one or more clinical signs associated with Sertoli cell tumor. These signs included prostatic changes, alopecia and hyperpigmentation, bone marrow suppression, gynecomastia, and behavioral changes. The association of Sertoli cell tumor with cryptorchidism was obvious in these records, as ten of the dogs

A 17-year-old girl with refractory, but nonmalignant, hypertension and hypokalemia is presented. A state of primary hyperreninism and secondary hyperaldosteronism was found to exist, together with a renin-producing Sertoli cell ovarian tumor. Upon removal of the tumor, this patient attained both a normotensive and a normokalemic state. A brief review is given of renal and nonrenal renin-producing tumors.

Ovarian Sertoli Leydig cell tumors (SLCT) accounts for less than 0.5% of all ovarian malignancies. The incidence of primary extra-ovarian SLCT is extremely rare with reported cases occurring in young adult women till now. We report case of primary retroperitoneal extra-ovarian SLCT in a seven-year girl child without any hormonal manifestation. She presented with complaint of left side abdominal swelling associated with intermittent pain for a duration of six months. CT scan revealed a huge retroperitoneal space-occupying lesion abutting the dorsal vertebrae and present posterior to pancreas, s

The lung is the most common site of metastasis for many malignancies. Especially the gastrointestinal system, gynecological malignancies and osteosarcomas frequently metastasize to the lung. It accounts for less than 0.5% of all ovarian neoplasms. The frequency of recurrence and metastasis is less than 5%. In most cases, they are stage I tumors, limited to the ovary and carry a good prognosis. Here, while investigating the nodules in the lung that were detected incidentally at the age of 64, the rare Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor of the lung is discussed clinically, radiologically and pathological

Large-cell calcifying Sertoli cell tumor (LCCST) is a rare, testicular sex cord, gonadal stromal tumor that belongs to the histological subgroup of Sertoli cell tumors. LCCSTs may involve malignant potential. However, metastasis is a rare phenomenon. We describe a case of benign late-onset LCCST with testis-sparing surgery. Modern imaging techniques were useful for considering organ-sparing surgery. The ultrasound of a 37-year-old man disclosed a sharp demarcated and strong hyper-echoic lesion sized 1.5 cm, with broad dorsal acoustic shadowing. Testicular tumor markers, including lactate dehyd

Ovarian sex cord-stromal tumors are rare and include adult granulosa cell tumors, juvenile granulosa cell tumors, and Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors. Adult granulosa cell tumors the most prevalent malignant ovarian sex cord stromal tumors are the focus of the review which synthesizes published data to highlight the diagnostic challenges and the controversies surrounding the management of adult granulosa cell tumors, juvenile granulosa cell tumors, and Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors. Adult granulosa cell tumors have frequently been misdiagnosed, with up to 30% of cases reassigned after a contemporary r

The Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS) is known to be commonly associated with ovarian tumors. However, its association with testicular tumors is uncommon. We report an eight-year old boy who presented with gynecomastia and had Sertoli cell tumor of both testes with high aromatase activity. To the best of our knowledge, this is the seventh such case being reported in the literature and the presenting manifestation in all seven was gynecomastia.

BACKGROUND: DICER1 mutation has been linked to development of Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor and cystic nephroma, among other neoplasms.
CASE: We present a unique case of recurrent ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor in a pediatric patient with a known DICER1 mutation and history of cystic nephroma. She underwent surgical staging and adjuvant chemotherapy, and her recurrences have been treated with chemotherapy, whole-abdomen radiation therapy, and further surgical debulking.
CONCLUSION: This report adds to the small body of evidence about this rare but unexpectedly highly aggressive tumor, especia

A 64-year-old man had complained of a left scrotal mass and gynecomastia since June 2012. A left testicular tumor was suspected and the patient was referred to our department in December 2013. He presented with bilateral gynecomastia and a painless left scrotal mass that was firm, smooth surfaced, and the size of large hen's egg. Levels of markers of testicular germ cell tumors were all within normal range. Endocrinological examination revealed a marked elevation in serum estradiol (E2) level. The patient underwent high inguinal orchiectomy in December 2013.The pathological diagnosis was a Ser

Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors (SLCT) are rare, comprising less than 0.5% of ovarian neoplasms. They are most often diagnosed in premenopausal women and may produce androgens, resulting in hirsuitism, voice deepening, frontal balding, terminal hair growth, and clitoromegaly. SLCT are malignant in 15%-20% of cases. We discuss a 25-year-old patient with persistent hyperandrogenemia. Noninvasive imaging cannot conclusively differentiate between SCLT and other diagnoses such as polycystic ovary syndrome, ovarian hyperthecosis, idiopathic hyperandrogenism, idiopathic hirsuitism, and 21-hydroxylase-defi

Sertoli leydig cell tumors also known as arrhenoblastoma, are a rare member of the sex cord-stromal tumor group of ovarian and testicular cancers, comprising less than 1% of all ovarian tumors, which occur in young adults and are almost always unilateral. We hereby report a case of a 17-year-old female presenting with a short history of irregular menses and an abdominal lump, which was histologically proven to be a bilateral sertoli leydig cell tumor of the ovary, an exceptionally rare entity in itself.

An ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor in a 15-year-old girl is reported. The patient had enchondromatosis (Ollier's disease), and a review of the literature revealed a few previous reports linking enchondromatosis with ovarian sex-cord stromal tumors. This association between these two unusual lesions indirectly supports a generalized mesodermal dysplasia in patients with enchondromatosis.

The clinicopathologic findings in nine patients with ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor with retiform pattern are described. The patients ranged in age from 11 months to 23 years; and seven patients were 12 years of age or younger. The most frequent presenting sign was the finding of an abdominal mass. This was associated with pain in five patients. In three patients the pain was severe due to torsion, causing an acute abdominal emergency. Slight virilization was observed in one patient only. Two patients had elevated serum alphafetoprotein (AFP), which correlated well with disease activity. Th
