Adenosquamous carcinoma of the colon consisting of both glandular and squamous histopathologic features is a rare colorectal neoplasm. Metastasis commonly occurs in right and transverse colon. A 71-year-old Caucasian man presented with a four-month history of intermittent rectal bleeding. Pathologic analysis of biopsy specimen revealed an adenosquamous carcinoma of sigmoid colon. Sigmoid resection with a proximal and distal resection was performed. Early detection and radical operation with other available therapeutic modalities may improve clinical outcome.

Patients who have undergone implantation of ureters into the sigmoid colon (ureterosigmoidostomy) are known to be at high risk of developing cancer of the colon many years later. The operation is often performed in infancy for congenital abnormalities of the bladder, thus creating a long term surveillance problem. We report a case of sigmoid colonic carcinoma associated with deposited ova of Schistosoma japonicum. A 57-year old woman presented with a 10-mo history of left lower quadrant abdominal pain and a 2-mo history of bloody stools. She had a significant past medical history of asymptomatic schistosomiasis japonica and constipation. Synchronous triple primary malignant neoplasms, namely, retroperitoneal myxoid liposarcoma, sigmoid colon carcinoma and uterocervical carcinoma in situ in a 42-year-old female is reported. Liposarcoma is the second most common soft tissue sarcoma in adults. These neoplasms take their origin from primitive mesenchymal cells and are rarely encountered in fat rich areas, such as subcutaneous tissue and/or the subserosa of the intestinal tract which, on the contrary, are the two most common sites of lipomas. A total of 254 cases of colorectal neoplasms were studied. A male predominance was noted with both benign and malignant neoplasms (M:F of 4.6:1 and 1.1:1 respectively). The peak incidence was in the fifth decade. The rectum was the commonest site for both benign and malignant neoplasms (75% and 63% respectively) followed by the sigmoid colon (11% and 16% respectively). Four hundred and fifty-eight consecutive subjects with a positive faecal guaiac test when screened for early detection of colorectal neoplasms were investigated with double-contrast enemas and rectosigmoidoscopy (60 cm). BACKGROUND: Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) of the gastrointestinal tract is an extremely rare high-grade neoplasm with poor prognosis. For advanced LMS with distant metastasis, the decision as to the choice of the most appropriate therapeutic strategy, including chemotherapy and surgery, is difficult. Urachal mucinous tumors are rare neoplasms with behaviour that can range from relatively benign to malignancy that can spread distantly or throughout the peritoneum as pseudomyxoma peritonei or peritoneal carcinomatosis. Eleven boys with Morris syndrome underwent feminizing genitoplasty utilizing a segment of the sigmoid colon for neovaginal reconstruction. Bilateral orchiectomy was performed for cosmetic reasons and to prevent neoplasms. Patient follow-up ranging from 6 months to 13 years have demonstrated good results were obtained. No intra- or postoperative complications were observed. Patient psycho-social-sexual identification and satisfaction were achieved.

Fecal immunochemical tests (FITs) for hemoglobin are increasingly recommended and used in colorectal cancer (CRC) screening. We aimed to provide a detailed assessment of the sensitivity of FIT according to type and subsite of neoplasms in a true screening setting.
