Influence of Southeast China's seawater chemistry on the performance development of cement-sodium silicate grout.

Cement-sodium silicate (C-S) double slurry grouts are widely employed for surrounding rock reinforcement and water plugging in subsea tunnel construction. However, their performance is highly sensitive to mix proportions and environmental exposure. The long-term durability of these materials and the tunnels they protect is particularly challenged by persistent seawater immersion. This study systematically investigates the effect of real seawater chemistry from four major sea regions in Southeast China on the durability of C-S grouts prepared with a practical engineering mix ratio. The evolutio

Zinc-/copper-substituted dicalcium silicate cement: advanced biomaterials with enhanced osteogenesis and long-term antibacterial properties.

The development of bioactive Ca-silicate-based cements which may simultaneously suppress infection is promising for periapical therapy or alveolar bone defect repair. While these treatments are usually effective in the short term, many of these cements have not been designed to have an affinity with dental tissue in a prolonged anti-infectious manner and are only high alkaline in the early stages. This can lead to less favorable long-term outcomes, such as in bone repair or secondary therapy. Inspired by the strong antibacterial activity of zinc and copper ions, we developed a nonstoichiometri

Preparation, characterization, release kinetics, and in vitro cytotoxicity of calcium silicate cement as a risedronate delivery system.

Injectable bone cements have been well characterized and studied in non-load bearing bone fixation and bone screw augmentation applications. Current calcium phosphate cement or poly(methyl methacrylate) cement have drawbacks like low mechanical strength and in situ exothermic properties. This leads especially in patients with osteoporosis to worsening contact between implant and bone and can finally lead to implant failure. To improve these properties, a calcium silicate cement (CSC) was prepared, which additionally contained the bisphosphonate risedronate (RA) to promote osteoblast function.
