Sleep disturbances are common in multiple sclerosis (MS) and contribute to increased symptom burden. Behavioral sleep hygiene practices are potentially modifiable factors influencing sleep and related symptoms, yet their role in MS remains insufficiently explored. This cross-sectional study comprised 175 MS patients. Sleep hygiene was assessed using a behavioral checklist covering a regular sleep schedule, avoidance of daytime naps, limitation of evening caffeine intake, reduced evening screen exposure, and optimization of the sleep environment. The instruments included the Fatigue Severity Sc

Sleep is a major health issue for young adults. While sleep hygiene interventions have small-to-moderate effects, better outcomes might be achieved by delivering interventions individually to those reporting sleep difficulties, or in the presence of a supportive other or companion. To examine the feasibility, acceptability, and initial effects of an adapted sleep hygiene intervention for young adults with poor sleep, we conducted an ORBIT Phase IIb pilot randomized controlled trial (n = 51). Young adults with poor sleep were randomized to receive a sleep hygiene intervention individually or wi

The school environment is essential for forming healthy habits, and having validated scales measuring sleep and wakefulness behaviours is critical for addressing adolescent sleep hygiene. Validation of such tools enables us to accurately assess sleep habits and design and implement more effective interventions that enhance young people's well-being and academic performance. This study aimed to adapt and culturally validate the Adolescent Sleep Hygiene Scale (ASHS) for Spanish-speaking adolescents, ensuring that the included items adequately reflected this population's cultural practices and sl

Sleep hygiene encompasses the habits, behaviors, and environmental adjustments conducive to achieving a restful sleep at night. Practices such as maintaining a consistent bedtime routine, avoiding sleep-disruptive substances such as alcohol and caffeine, and ensuring a dark and quiet bedroom are examples of good sleep hygiene. There is growing evidence that well-designed serious games can facilitate desired healthy behavioral changes, suggesting their potential for sleep hygiene intervention. This paper presents a narrative review of existing serious games and gamified systems designed for sle

To identify the effect of sleep hygiene education on sleep quality in children with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM), a quasi-experiment with control group and pretest-posttest design was conducted. Samples of 46 children with T1DM in IKADAR were assigned into intervention (n = 23) and control (n = 23). The intervention group received sleep hygiene education for 10 minutes via video, then applied for 3 days. Respondents completed the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) Indonesian version (pretest) and were evaluated on the third day (posttest). There was a significant difference in sleep qual

BACKGROUND: Poor sleep quality and psychological stress are interrelated and disproportionately affect adults with multiple cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors. Maintaining an optimal home environment and engaging in healthy bedtime behaviors are important components of sleep hygiene practices that influence sleep health and mental well-being. However, research is scarce in exploring the associations between sleep hygiene, sleep quality, and psychological stress among adults with multiple CVD risk factors.
METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 300 adults diagnosed with hyp

Insomnia is common among older adults receiving palliative care, yet the role of sleep hygiene in insomnia severity remains unclear. We conducted a cross-sectional study of 76 older veterans receiving outpatient palliative care (mean age, 75 years; 85.5% male). Participants completed the Sleep Hygiene Index, Insomnia Severity Index, Epworth Sleepiness Scale, and Geriatric Depression Scale. Nighttime pain was assessed using a 0-10 numeric rating scale. Multivariable linear regression examined the association between sleep hygiene and insomnia severity after adjusting for age, depressive symptom

INTRODUCTION: Psychological well-being is crucial for nursing students, who often face academic and clinical stressors that disrupt their sleep patterns. Insomnia severity, sleep hygiene, and sleep locus of control are key sleep-related factors that potentially influence mental health. However, the combined effects of these factors on psychological well-being remain underexplored, particularly among Indian nursing students.
METHODS: A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted among 418 nursing students from two nursing colleges in Northwestern India. Data were collected using validated i

OBJECTIVE: Because of the interrelation of sleep disturbance and depression in college students, sleeping environments and sleep hygiene practices have emerged as potential avenues for intervention. To understand associations between predictors of sleep (environmental noise disturbances, pre-bedtime media use, sleep hygiene), poor sleep quality, and depressive symptoms, this study examined poor sleep quality as a potential mediator between these predictors and depressive symptoms.
DESIGN: Cross-sectional.
SETTING: Residential colleges/universities.

Objective: Sleep hygiene may contribute to the frequent co-occurrence of major depressive disorder (MDD) and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), which is linked to more severe impairment than either disorder alone. MDD and GAD share sleep dysfunction, which may involve poor sleep hygiene. This study tested whether poor sleep hygiene strengthens the relationship between GAD and MDD symptoms. Participants: 180 undergraduate students from a large Southern university participated. Methods: In this cross-sectional design, participants completed measures of anxiety, depression, and sleep hygiene. Mo

Sleep disturbances play an important role in the exacerbation of pain and other troubling symptoms reported by patients with fibromyalgia (FM). The objective of this trial was to analyze the efficacy of a cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) versus a sleep hygiene (SH) education program at improving sleep and other clinical manifestations in FM. Sixty-four FM women with insomnia were randomly assigned to the CBT-I or the SH groups, and 59 completed the treatments (30 in the CBT-I group and 29 in the SH group). Participants completed several self-report questionnaires at pre-, post
