The last decade has seen a surge of interest and investment in green social prescribing, however, both healthcare and social enterprise has been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, along with restricted access to public green spaces. This study examines the challenges and opportunities of delivering green social prescribing during and in the aftermath of COVID-19, in the light of goals of green social prescribing to improve mental health outcomes and reduce health inequalities. Thirty-five one-to-one interviews were conducted between March 2020 and January 2022. Interviewees included Link Workers

Perfectionism is a multidimensional personality construct with various components. Socially prescribed perfectionism (i.e., perceived social pressures and expectations to be perfect) is one key element. This trait dimension represents a chronic source of pressure that elicits feelings of helplessness and hopelessness at extreme levels. Unfortunately, at present, the destructiveness of socially prescribed perfectionism has not been fully recognized or extended conceptually despite the extensive volume of research on this dimension. To address this, we first trace the history and initial concept

Canada's healthcare system is approaching structural limits: nearly $400 billion in annual spending, while nearly one in five Canadians is without a regular healthcare provider, emergency departments overflow and health inequities persist that universal coverage alone cannot resolve. This paper argues that social prescribing, a structured referral system connecting people to community resources through trained link workers, offers not merely an additional program but a paradigm shift. By making visible the economic and social value of community-based health work, social prescribing functions a

Mulligan's paper makes an important and persuasive case that social prescribing should be understood as strategic infrastructure rather than as a marginal program. However, for that claim to hold in practice, the argument needs to be more clearly grounded in three operational conditions. The first one is that community action must be recognized upstream of healthcare access. Secondly, primary care must be repositioned as a local clinical infrastructure responsible for a population. Finally, the model requires an explicit territorial architecture of governance, financing and accountability.

BACKGROUND: Social prescribing (SP) is increasingly implemented to address the social determinants of health in people with chronic diseases, yet uncertainty remains regarding its effectiveness and the mechanisms through which benefit is achieved. We performed a Bayesian re-analysis of randomized trials to distinguish overall treatment effects from implementation-related mechanisms.
METHODS: We systematically identified randomized controlled trials of SP following PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Bayesian hierarchical models were used to estimate intention-to-treat (ITT) effects on physical activity,

BACKGROUND: Social prescription is seen as a public health intervention tool with the potential to mitigate social determinants of health. On one side, social prescription is not yet well developed in France, where social workers usually attend to social needs, and historically, there is a deep divide between the health and social sectors. On the other side, discharge coordination is gaining attention in France as a critical tool to improve the quality of care, assessed indirectly using unplanned rehospitalization rates.
OBJECTIVE: This study aims to combine social prescription and discharge

Ninety one patients with new episodes of minor affective disorder were selected by their general practitioners as suitable for anxiolytic medication. Half the patients were allocated randomly to a drug-group (anxiolytic medication), and half to a non-drug group (brief counselling without anxiolytics). Psychiatric and social assessments were made (i) at initial consultation when treatment was started; (ii) one month later; (iii) seven months later. Before treatment the two groups were similar on all main variables. On the General Health Questionnaire, 85 per cent of patients were psychiatric ca

BACKGROUND: Despite clear recommendations from evidence-based guidelines to restrict tonsillectomies for adult patients with infrequent tonsillitis, adoption among German otolaryngologists remains limited. Social influences, including opinion leaders and perceived social norms across peers, may shape practitioners' adherence to these guidelines. Therefore, this study examined how German otolaryngologists perceive peer social norms and opinion leaders regarding tonsillectomy guidelines and how these perceptions relate to their own guideline adherence.
METHODS: In a cross-sectional online surve

Population ageing and the rising burden of multimorbidity require late-life anxiety and depression to be addressed beyond symptom control. Loneliness, social isolation, restricted activity, and loss of meaningful roles frequently interact with physical illness and functional decline; however, these determinants are not readily modified through conventional clinical care alone. Social prescribing offers a range of supported pathways through which health and care professionals connect individuals with non-clinical community resources, ranging from light-touch referrals to more holistic, relation

Antimicrobial resistance is a critical global health challenge, requiring effective strategies to promote rational antimicrobial prescribing among healthcare professionals. This study investigates how social support mediates prescribing behavior through psychosocial factors, providing insights into healthcare decision-making. A cross-sectional survey of 720 healthcare professionals was conducted, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to evaluate the mediating roles of self-efficacy, knowledge and skills, and health beliefs. The results identified significant mediating pathways, empha

BACKGROUND: Social prescribing link workers have become part of primary health care in recent years. They help patients to recognise non-medical factors affecting their health and identify sources of support, often in the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector. They form part of wider work to strengthen person-centred care, which actively seeks to engage individuals in decision-making about their health, taking into account their medical, social, psychological, financial and spiritual circumstances.
OBJECTIVE: To understand how buy-in to social prescribing and the link worker role

OBJECTIVE: Research has linked perfectionism to increased suicidal ideation (SI), although less is known regarding the mechanisms that explain this relation. The Perfectionism Social Disconnection Model (PSDM) posits that interpersonal aspects of perfectionism cause interpersonal problems (e.g., hostility, loneliness) which in turn increase a person's risk for experiencing SI. The present study aimed to replicate and extend previous findings related to the PSDM and SI using measures of interpersonal hopeless and general hopelessness.
METHOD: Tenets of the PSDM were tested in a sample of 313 U

BACKGROUND: Social prescribing and supported self-management are two components of the National Health Service (NHS) personalised care model and have proven effectiveness in primary care settings. Social prescribing is a range of non-clinical services that address the psychological, psychosocial, and environmental issues affecting a person's well-being. Patients undertake supported self-management tasks to increase their knowledge, skills, and confidence in managing their health and medical care. However, these practices are not yet routinely integrated into radiation therapy. With 53.5 millio

Drug prescriptions per capita in the United States have more than doubled since 1950 without a commensurate improvement in health. Drugs are often prescribed for clinical conditions in which therapeutic benefits do not outweigh the risk of adverse drug reactions. Deaths due to adverse drug reactions are roughly as frequent as deaths due to automobile accidents. Valium and Librium are the first and fourth most commonly prescribed drugs in the U.S., used by one ten adults each year. The rapid rise in use of these drugs has occurred during a period of rising social stress, as indicated by increas

BACKGROUND: Dementia is a global public health challenge with the number of people living with the condition rapidly rising. Social prescribing in primary care has emerged as a person-centred approach connecting individuals with community support. It is increasingly explored for its potential to support people with complex needs, yet its role in dementia care remains uncertain. This study aimed to explore current provision of social prescribing for people living with dementia across England, identifying relevant aspects for dementia care, with particular focus on generic and specialist service

BACKGROUND: Globally social prescribing (SP) is receiving increasing attention for its role in health and social care. There is little evidence and a call for consideration on a seldom considered and hugely important aspect of SP schemes - the connection process (identification, enhancing likelihood of behaviour change, and connection). This was a novel study aiming to design an acceptable, feasible and engaging process for connecting individuals from general practice to a free golf programme in Scotland.
METHODS: A two-phase participatory approach drawing on the double diamond process of des

OBJECTIVES: We aimed to describe the characteristics of children and young people referred to social prescribing across the UK and understand what social prescribing looks like for these young people. Additionally, we aimed to explore whether access to and experiences of social prescribing vary with age and have changed from 2017 to 2025. Overall, we aimed to identify whether social prescribing reduces or exacerbates health inequalities among children and young people, and whether this has changed over time.
DESIGN: Analysis of social prescribing electronic health records.

BACKGROUND: People living with Long Term Neurological Conditions (LTNCs) value peer support and social activities. Psychological support and wellbeing enables them to manage their condition. Social prescribing is a formal process of referring patients to a link worker to co-design a plan to improve their health and wellbeing. Intervention involves supporting participation in activities based within the individual's local community. This study aimed to explore the barriers and enablers to accessing social prescribing for people living with LTNCs (plwLTNCs).
METHODS: A total of four focus group

BACKGROUND: Green social prescribing (GSP) connects individuals with nature-based interventions (NBIs) through healthcare providers, link workers, and social and community networks. While evidence supports the health benefits of NBIs, further research is needed to understand the factors that influence engagement.
AIM: To explore barriers and enablers to GSP and NBIs for prescribers, service users and community providers.
DESIGN & SETTING: A scoping review in primary care and community settings.
METHOD: We systematically searched Medline, Embase, CINAHL, Web of Science, and SCOPUS from 2019.

OBJECTIVES: Despite significant investment in social prescribing in England over the last decade, we still do not know if it works, or how models of social prescribing fit within wider health and care policy and practice. This study explores current service delivery structures and assesses the feasibility of a national evaluation of the link worker model.
METHODS: Semi-structured interviews were conducted between May and September 2020, with 25 key informants from across social prescribing services in England. Participants included link workers, voluntary, community and social enterprise staf
