Understanding social dynamics and patient experience in out of hospital care: validation of a co-responsibility questionnaire (CoReCare).

Patient experiences are commonly assessed through patient reported experience measures (PREMs). Ambulatory care models extend traditional care into the patients' home, meaning that a triangle of health care professionals, patients, and their families need to be considered when assessing the remote care experience. These intertwined responsibilities are described by co-responsibility. Currently, PREMs don't reflect how elements to remote care impact this remote care experience. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a questionnaire assessing perceived patient-partner co-responsibility as a PREM

Quantitative Research on Corporate Social Responsibility: A Quest for Relevance and Rigor in a Quickly Evolving, Turbulent World.

In this article, the co-editors of the corporate responsibility: quantitative issues section of the journal provide an overview of the quantitative CSR field and offer some new perspectives on where the field is going. They highlight key issues in developing impactful, theory-driven, and ethically grounded research and call for research that examines complex problems facing businesses and the society (e.g., big data and artificial intelligence, political polarization, and the role of CSR in generating social impact). By examining topics that are under-researched, forward-looking, and socially

MNE-NGO partnerships for sustainability and social responsibility in the global fast-fashion industry: A loose-coupling perspective.

Stakeholders are increasingly aware of the environmental and human rights issues related to highly conspicuous fashion merchandising. To mitigate the negative responses from environmentally conscious consumer groups, fashion merchandisers have sought to partner with non-governmental organizations (NGOs). While there is a growing body of literature on sustainability and social responsibility (SSR), the increasingly popular practice of fast-fashion industry partnering with NGOs has been neglected, and so far, remained under the radar. Such partnerships may be of success, but at the same time whi

An environmental psychology model of sustainability in sport: the roles of sustainability consciousness, environmental awareness, and personal social responsibility.

BACKGROUND: Understanding the psychological processes associated with sustainable behavior has become a major focus of environmental psychology. Although sustainability consciousness is generally associated with environmentally responsible behavior, the psychological processes underlying this association in sport remain insufficiently understood, particularly among sport science students. Therefore, the present study examined the serial mediating roles of environmental awareness and personal social responsibility in the association between sustainability consciousness and sustainability in spo

Social chronic pain: the affective response to social exclusion.

BACKGROUND: Social exclusion, whether due to physical isolation or the subjective perception of being ignored and unwanted, threatens the fundamental human need for social belonging and is experienced as social pain. While its detrimental effects on mood disorders are well documented, its impact on individuals living with chronic pain remains largely unexplored. This study investigates emotional responses to social exclusion in individuals with chronic pain (CPs) compared to healthy controls (HCs), considering the role of comorbid mood disturbances. It also examines whether behavioral and soci

The cortisol response to social stress in social anxiety disorder.

This study evaluated the cortisol stress response (CSR) following the Trier Social Stress Test in Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) and control participants, to determine whether individual differences in CSR associate more with SAD diagnosis or dimensional characteristics [i.e. childhood trauma (CT)]. Twenty-one participants (11 with SAD) had full data available for both CT-scores and cortisol area-under-the-curve (AUC). Linear regression produced significant results: predicting AUCG with study group, emotional abuse (EA) scores and their interaction (F=3.14, df=5,15; p=.039); of note, the study

The Impact of Social Responsibility on the Adoption of Sustainable Development Practices on the risk of stock price collapse.

BACKGROUND: Corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development practices have become increasingly important for firms seeking to address stakeholder expectations and improve corporate sustainability. However, their implications for capital-market risk, particularly stock price crash risk, remain unclear in emerging markets. This study examines the relationship between CSR and stock price crash risk and investigates whether the adoption of sustainable development practices mediates this relationship among Saudi-listed firms. METHODS: The study examines 95 non-financial companies

The placebo response in social phobia.

The placebo response forms a growing problem in randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials in psychiatry. Research into the placebo response is on the increase, but remains very limited in relation to social phobia. Together with the dropout rate, the placebo effect is an important factor limiting the discriminative properties of any study. In this study, we reviewed 15 placebo-controlled studies in social phobia, focussing on patients and study characteristics. In social phobia, the placebo effect has turned out to be moderately large and has shown no increase over the past decade. Placeb

Promoting corporate social responsibility message in COVID-19 advertising: How threat persuasion affects consumer responses to altruistic versus strategic CSR.

Given the challenges facing companies in communicating corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives amid the pandemic, this study focuses on the effects of CSR appeals in COVID-19 advertising. Using the Ordered Protection Motivation model and CSR literature as the foundation, this study examined the interaction effect between CSR appeal (altruistic CSR vs. strategic CSR) and threat intensity (low vs. high) of the crisis depiction featured in the ad on consumers' responses. Results revealed the moderating role of threat intensity on the relationships between CSR appeal and consumers' respo

Mistakes that matter: An event-related potential study on obsessive-compulsive symptoms and social performance monitoring in different responsibility contexts.

Mistakes that affect others often are linked to increased feelings of responsibility and guilt. This especially holds for individuals high in obsessive-compulsive symptoms (OCS), who are characterized by inflated feelings of responsibility and a fear of causing harm to others. This event-related potential study investigated individual differences in OCS in social performance monitoring with a focus on the role of responsibility for other's harm and the error-related negativity (ERN). Healthy volunteers low (N = 27) or high (N = 24) in OCS performed a Flanker task in the presence of a gender-ma

Anger and aggressiveness in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and the mediating role of responsibility, non-acceptance of emotions, and social desirability.

According to psychodynamic and cognitive models of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anger and aggression play an important role in the development and maintenance of the disorder. (Sub-) clinical samples with OCD have reported higher anger and anger suppression. Patients with checking-related symptoms of OCD showed a less aggressive self-concept as assessed by an Implicit Association Test (IAT). This study assessed anger and aggressiveness self-concepts in OCD as well as possible mediators of the link between OCD and aggressiveness. A total of 48 patients with OCD and 45 healthy controls w

Psychiatric care or social defense? The origins of a controversy over the responsibility of the mentally ill in French forensic psychiatry.

While some countries like Belgium chose a penal system clearly inspired by social-defense theories for mentally disturbed criminals, the French law hasn't been consistent and varies from the enlightened classical law and social-defense law. Indeed paragraph 1 of article 122-1 states that people whose discernment or control is abolished by a psychiatric disorder are non-responsible respecting the classical logic of law. On the other hand, Paragraph 2 of Article 122-1 allows the mentally ill to be judged responsible whereas no institution exists to take care about them. Then the system of psychi

Conditioned Subjective Responses to Socially Relevant Stimuli in Social Anxiety Disorder and Subclinical Social Anxiety.

UNLABELLED: Although enhanced fear conditioning has been implicated in the origins of social anxiety disorder (SAD), laboratory evidence in support of this association is limited. Using a paradigm employing socially relevant unconditioned stimuli, we conducted two separate studies to asses fear conditioning in individuals with SAD and non-clinical individuals with high social anxiety (subclinical social anxiety [SSA]). They were compared with age-matched and gender-matched individuals with another anxiety disorder (panic disorder with agoraphobia) and healthy controls (Study 1) and with indivi

Social setting, social rank and HPA axis response in cynomolgus monkeys.

RATIONALE: Hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis activity under different social settings in non-human primates is understudied. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to evaluate the response of pituitary-adrenal hormones (adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and cortisol) to pharmacological challenges of the HPA axis in male cynomolgus macaques under different social settings. METHODS: Male cynomolgus macaques (Macaca fascicularis, n = 11) were individually (A) and socially housed (B) in alternation, over consecutive months, in an ABA design. Effects of MDMA on sociability and neural response to social threat and social reward.

RATIONALE: +/-3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA, "ecstasy") reportedly produces unique subjective effects, including increased sociability, feelings of closeness with others, and reduced interpersonal defensiveness. Despite their apparent importance in recreational and potential psychotherapeutic use of MDMA, the defining characteristics and neurobiological mechanisms of these interpersonal effects are poorly understood. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We investigated acute effects of MDMA on self-reported sociability and neuronal activation in response to socially threatening (angry and fearful

The Role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Sensitivity and Information Sharing in Employee Turnover Intentions: A Franco-Moroccan Cross-cultural Mediation Study.

This paper examines the relationship between perceived corporate social responsibility (CSR) and intention to leave the organization through a cross-cultural comparison between France and Morocco. It also explores the roles of CSR sensitivity and CSR information sharing as antecedents, and of person-organization fit (PO-fit) as a mediator of the relationship under study. Two cross-sectional samples were collected: French (n = 243) and Moroccan (n = 234). Invariance and structural equation modeling path analyses were conducted to test the hypothesized model. Results reveal partial scalar (mean)

To determine whether patients with generalized social phobia exhibit evidence of abnormal autonomic nervous system (ANS) functioning, 15 non-depressed, medication-free subjects with DSM-IV social phobia (generalized type) and 15 healthy control subjects participated in a series of autonomic function tests. Generalized social phobics exhibited increased blood pressure responsivity to Valsalva and exaggerated vagal withdrawal in response to isometric exercise, but normal cardiovascular responsivity to all other tasks. Plasma norepinephrine and epinephrine levels were also normal. Studies with la
