Clarifying the critical differences between the enzymatic stromal vascular fraction and the mechanically derived stromal vascular tissue or nanofat for spinal cord injury applications.

This letter aims to address the increasing confusion surrounding the concepts and terminology of enzymatically derived stromal vascular fraction (eSVF) and mechanically processed adipose tissue, which is often referred to as stromal vascular tissue (mSVT) or nanofat. Although these products are often presented as equivalent, they differ fundamentally in their biological composition, processing methods and regulatory classification. Enzymatic digestion yields a homogeneous, adipocyte-free cellular suspension, whereas mechanical processing preserves adipocytes, extracellular matrix fragments and

Anti-apoptotic effect of adipose tissue-derived stromal vascular fraction in denervated rat muscle.

BACKGROUND: Recovery of muscle function after peripheral nerve injury is often poor, and this can be attributed to muscle fiber atrophy and cell death. In the current study, we have investigated the effects of stromal vascular fraction (SVF) on muscle cell apoptosis and its potential to preserve muscle tissue following denervation. METHODS: Rat gastrocnemius muscle was denervated by sciatic nerve transection. At 2 and 4 weeks after injury, muscles were examined histologically and apoptosis was measured using TUNEL assay and PCR array for a range of apoptotic genes. Additionally, an in vitro T

Stromal vascular fraction-enriched platelet-rich plasma therapy reverses the effects of androgenetic alopecia.

BACKGROUND: Since antiquity, humans have been trying to devise remedies to cure androgenetic alopecia (AGA). These efforts include use of oral and topical concoctions and hair transplant strategies. As AGA affects people of all colors and creed, there has been a continuous effort to find a magic bullet against AGA. Unfortunately, to date, all the strategies to negate AGA effects have limitations and thus require new treatment options. AIM: To evaluate the efficacy of use of stromal vascular fraction (SVF) in androgenetic alopecia patients. METHODS: Stromal vascular fraction was obtained by e

Stromal vascular fraction cells for the treatment of critical limb ischemia: a pilot study.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

BACKGROUND: Cell-based therapy is being explored as an alternative treatment option for critical limb ischemia (CLI), a disease associated with high amputation and mortality rates and poor quality of life. However, therapeutic potential of uncultured adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction (SVF) cells has not been evaluated as a possible treatment. In this pilot study, we investigated the efficacy of multiple injections of autologous uncultured adipose-derived SVF cells to treat patients with CLI. METHODS: This study included 15 patients, from 35 to 77 years old, with rest pain and ulcerati

Stromal vascular fraction inhibits renal fibrosis by regulating metabolism and inflammation in obstructive nephropathy.

Obstructive nephropathy is one of the leading causes of kidney injury and fibrosis, which can lead to end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Stromal vascular fraction (SVF), a heterogeneous cell mixture derived from adipose tissue, has been widely used for regenerative medicine across many preclinical models and clinical applications. Recent studies have suggested that SVF can alleviate acute kidney injury in mice. However, to our knowledge, the therapeutic effects of SVF on obstructive nephropathy have not been studied before. In this study, we evaluated the therapeutic potential of SVF on obstructi

Beneficial effects of adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction on testicular injury caused by busulfan.

The use of stem cells can attenuate testicular injury and promote sperm production. The adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction (SVF) has become an attractive cell source for cell-based therapies. In this study, we aimed to investigate the therapeutic efficacy of SVF on busulfan-induced testicular damage in rats. Twenty-four male rats were randomly divided into control, busulfan, SVF, and busulfan + SVF groups. Testicular damage was induced by intraperitoneal administration of busulfan (35 mg/kg). SVF obtained from human adipose tissue using Lipocube SVF™ was injected into rats 5 weeks after

First-in-man intravenous implantation of stromal vascular fraction in psoriasis: a case study.

BACKGROUND: Stromal vascular fraction (SVF) is a mixture of adipose-derived stem cells/mesenchymal stem cells, endothelial/progenitors, pericytes, fibroblasts, and other cells obtained from fat tissue. A small sample of fat or adipose tissue can be obtained under local anesthesia using a cannula. After an enzymatic digestion and centrifugation, the adipocytes (fat cells) are removed to obtain an SVF. Here, we describe the rationale and, to our knowledge, the first clinical implementation of SVF intravenously in a patient with severe psoriasis. METHODS: Adipose tissue (60 mL) was collected und

Cryopreservation of Stromal Vascular Fraction Cells Reduces Their Counts but Not Their Stem Cell Potency.

UNLABELLED: Adipose-derived stem cells are derived from the nonfat component of adipose tissue termed the stromal vascular fraction (SVF). The use of freshly isolated autologous SVF cells as an alternative to adult stem cells is becoming more common. Repeated SVF administration for improved clinical outcomes is complicated by the need for repeated liposuction. This can be overcome by cryopreservation of SVF cells. The current study aimed to assess whether SVF cells retain their stem cell potency during cryopreservation. METHODS: SVF cells isolated from lipoaspirates (donor age: 46.1 ± 11.7 y;

Effects of the intramyocardial implantation of stromal vascular fraction in patients with chronic ischemic cardiomyopathy.

BACKGROUND: Stromal vascular fraction (SVF) can easily be obtained from a mini-lipoaspirate procedure of fat tissue. The SVF contains a mixture of cells including ADSCs and growth factors and has been depleted of the adipocyte (fat cell) population. We evaluated the safety and efficacy of administering SVF intra-myocardially into patients with chronic ischemic cardiomyopathy. METHODS: A total of 28 patients underwent a local tumescent liposuction procedure to remove approximately 60 ml of fat tissue. The fat was separated to isolate the SVF and the cells were delivered into the akinetic myoca

From elective protocols to emergency reality: rethinking adipose tissue harvesting for stromal vascular fraction applications.

BACKGROUND: Adipose tissue is a readily accessible source of stromal vascular fraction (SVF) and adipose-derived stem/stromal cells, widely used in regenerative medicine. Current harvesting and processing standards are derived almost exclusively from elective surgical settings performed under controlled physiological conditions. However, expanding applications in trauma and neurosurgery increasingly require adipose tissue procurement in emergency settings, where systemic inflammation, hypoperfusion, and time constraints may alter tissue biology. The biological impact of emergency harvesting re
