A twenty-six-item written survey was administered to freshman students at a midwestern dental school during orientation weeks 2002 and 2003. Questions focused on students' attitudes toward the dental professional's responsibilities and scope of practice in promotion of

Strategies for student services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students in dental schools.

The purpose of this article is to explore issues that pertain to the needs of gay men, lesbians, and bisexual and transgender (GLBT) students as a subgroup in U.S. dental schools. The increasing visibility of GLBT persons in all aspects of life is one aspect of the changing face of the U.S. population. Increasingly, there is dialogue about issues related to GLBT persons, their nontraditional families, and their full engagement in society. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Third year dental students (N = 169) partic

To address the research purpose, surveys were sent to the ADA and to each of the ten independent state and four regional dental licensing boards. During the five-year study period (1998-2003), there were 508 requests for accommodations on

Demographic characteristics, caries conceptualization (CC), dental care habits, and self-caries risk determination were asked. Discursive respo
