Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) is a challenge for the pediatric cardiologist and the surgeon. It is generally assumed that the postoperative outcome after surgery for congenital heart disease is influenced by the institutional size. We present the results of 43 patients with true HLHS (situs solitus and atrioventricular and ventriculoarterial concordance) referred for operation between 1992 and 2002 in our center. A permanent on-call service for hand amputations (Replantation Service) was established in 2010 of the initiative of the Council of Polish Society for Surgery of the Hand. IMPORTANCE: Despite need, children face access barriers to dental surgical procedures. Surgical procedures for older adults delivered in ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs) are less costly than and of comparable quality to care delivered in hospital outpatient departments (HOPDs), but it remains unknown whether this association extends to pediatric dental surgical procedures.

670 sick children were operated upon under conditions of a one-day surgical hospital. Selection of the patients and preoperative preparing was fulfilled at the polyclinic. The selected children had the following diseases: inguinal (119) and umbilical (87) hernias, hernias of the linea alba (14), hydrocele (68), cryptorchidism (81), benign tumours of soft tissues (43), phimosis (258). Complications in the nearest postoperative period made up 0.3%. The economic effect of the treatment of 670 children with surgical diseases at the surgical one-day hospital was more than 50,000 rubles.

Forty one patients aged 29 to 82 years were subjected to cataract extraction in ambulatory conditions.
