International transfer of knowledge: Training and education in craniomaxillofacial surgery. Contributing to humanitarian aid by teaching the teachers.

The development of multiple international aid programs aims to offer health care according to basic quality standards to the global population. In many fields of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery such as the treatment of head and neck tumours, complex or acquired malformations and craniomaxillofacial trauma, aid programs contribute to solve urgent needs although in the long term only the establishment at local or subregional levels of stable specialized healthcare networks including training of specialized health personnel will be able to contribute to achieving an adequate standard of care. Evaluating an AAC training for special education teachers in Sri Lanka,a low- and middle-income country.

A majority of people with disabilities live in low- and middle-income countries where communication services for individuals with complex communication needs are scarce. It is essential that communication partners of individuals who have complex communication needs receive training to support communication. To address this issue, the current study evaluated an augmentative and alternative communication training for special education teachers living in a low- and middle-income country, Sri Lanka. The training was based on four key practices identified when training in low- and middle-income cou

Participation of health workers, school teachers and pupils in the control of rheumatic fever: evaluation of a training programme.

In a rural community block of north India we initiated a programme for control of rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease (RF/RHD). This included a training campaign for all 74 health workers, 773 school teachers and 12,500 older pupils (class V to X) to enable them to suspect and refer cases of RF/RHD and counsel them about secondary prophylaxis. Training material was used by project staff, medical officers and teachers to convey that this serious disease with onset between 5 and 15 years can be recognized by four simple criteria: fever with joint pain or swelling; breathlessness and fati

Effectiveness of Specific Techniques in Behavioral Teacher Training for Childhood ADHD Behaviors: Secondary Analyses of a Randomized Controlled Microtrial.

Behavioral teacher training is an effective intervention for children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Intervention effectiveness may be enhanced by including intervention components that carry the strongest evidence for their effectiveness. A previous article of this group showed that both antecedent- (i.e., stimulus-control) and consequent-based (i.e., contingency management) techniques were highly effective in reducing daily teacher-rated, individually selected problem behaviors in a specific situation of the child. Effects were observed up to three months post interven

Teacher-reviewed generative AI action-analysis materials for university dance training: action understanding, body awareness, feedback uptake, and revised performance.

INTRODUCTION: University dance training requires beginners to translate demonstration, verbal correction, and bodily sensation into revised movement attempts. This study examined whether teacher-reviewed generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) action-analysis materials were associated with stronger action-unit learning than conventional teacher text cues in a university dance course. METHODS: A within-student crossover quasi-experimental design included 143 valid students and 827 valid action-unit records across six dance actions. Each student encountered both material conditions on differ

An evaluation of "preventing expulsion in preschool": A cognitive-behavioral, strengths-based teacher training to reduce early childhood exclusionary discipline.

Preschoolers are excluded from early childhood education settings at alarming rates, largely for developmentally typical emotional responses. Boys, Black children, and children with disabilities are being excluded disproportionately more than their peers. In 2018, Illinois enacted legislation to limit formal expulsion; however, children are still pushed out of programs. This study evaluated Preventing Expulsion in Preschool (PEP)-a self-paced, virtual teacher training providing content on exclusion in Illinois, social-emotional development, and strategies for self-regulation in response to a c

A sequential integrating virtual simulation and authentic video for preschool teacher candidates' observational skills training: A design-based intervention study.

Professional observation ability is a foundational skill for preschool teachers, yet its cultivation has long faced the challenge of bridging theory and practice. Virtual simulation and authentic video offer new technological pathways to address this gap, but research on their sequential integration remains limited. This study adopted a design-based research-informed intervention approach, conducting four sequential workshops over six weeks with one natural class of 46 preschool teacher candidates. A mixed-methods design was employed, integrating group observation assignment scores (32 valid s

Recalibrating occupational stress and well-being: Junior high school teachers' retrospective accounts of mindfulness training.

Quantitative research has reported associations between mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) and teacher stress and well-being, but less is known about how teachers themselves retrospectively experience and make sense of learning mindfulness. This interpretative phenomenological study examined eight Chinese junior high school teachers' retrospective accounts following a four-week standardized mindfulness program. Participants described an initial struggle with a "busy mind" and physical discomfort, followed in some accounts by a more noticeable capacity to pause before responding to classroo

How to Improve Behavioral Parent and Teacher Training for Children with ADHD: Integrating Empirical Research on Learning and Motivation into Treatment.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder [ADHD] is one of the most common psychiatric disorders of childhood with poor prognosis if not treated effectively. Recommended psychosocial evidence-based treatment for preschool and school-aged children is behavioral parent and teacher training [BPT]. The core elements of BPT are instrumental learning principles, i.e., reinforcement of adaptive and the ignoring or punishment of non-adaptive behaviors together with stimulus control techniques. BPT is moderately effective in reducing oppositional behavior and improving parenting practices; however, it d

Building Teacher Capacity for Inclusive Practice With Autistic Pupils: A Mixed-Methods Study of Self-Efficacy, Training, Attitudes, and School Context.

Autistic pupils in mainstream secondary schools often experience unmet needs, yet limited research has examined the combined influence of multiple theoretically relevant predictors of teachers' self-efficacy and intentions to implement inclusive practice for autistic pupils. This mixed-methods study surveyed 126 staff from six secondary schools, assessing autism-specific training, perceived inclusiveness of the school environment, experience with autistic pupils, neurodiversity-affirming attitudes, personal connection to autism, and staff role. Teacher self-efficacy and intentions for inclusiv

The Irie Classroom Toolbox, a universal violence-prevention teacher-training programme, in Jamaican preschools: a single-blind, cluster-randomised controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Violence is a leading global public health problem, and interventions in early childhood are important in the primary prevention of violence. We tested whether the Irie Classroom Toolbox, a violence-prevention teacher-training programme reduced violence against children by teachers and reduced class-wide child aggression in Jamaican preschools (catering to children aged 3-6 years). METHODS: We did a single-blind, cluster-randomised controlled trial in 76 preschools in Kingston and St Andrew, randomly selected, using simple randomisation, from 120 eligible preschools. Effect of structured training programme on the knowledge and behaviors of breast and cervical cancer screening among the female teachers in Turkey.

BACKGROUND: Breast cancer and cervical cancer are the most common cancers among women in the world. Many studies on the early detection of cancer have been conducted among women worldwide, but few studies have been performed in the world on female teachers regarding breast self-examination (BSE), mammography (MMG) and Pap smear test (PST). As teachers interact with students, this could play an important role in health education and in developing healthy behavior such as cancer screening. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of a structured teaching program on breast and

The relative effectiveness of vocal hygiene training and vocal function exercises in preventing voice disorders in primary school teachers.

Voice disorders in teachers have a significant impact on their occupational functioning and well being. Teachers are believed to have a high prevalence of voice problems because of the unfavourable acoustic environments in which they work and the high vocal demands and stress levels associated with teaching. Although the types of voice problems teachers experience should be preventable because they are caused by factors that teachers can change, there is limited information available regarding the effectiveness of different preventative strategies. Therefore, the aim of this study was to inves

Effects of a combined training program on lipid metabolism metabolic syndrome and physical fitness in perimenopausal Chinese female teachers.

Metabolic syndrome (MetS), which affects over 24% of Chinese adults [4], poses a particular risk to sedentary occupations such as university faculty. This single-arm pilot study investigated the effects of a combined aerobic and resistance exercise intervention on lipid metabolism, MetS components, and physical fitness in perimenopausal female academics. A total of 101 women aged 43-49 years, classified according to IDF criteria into asymptomatic (n = 19), MetS (n = 50), and metabolic disease (n = 32) groups, participated in a 12-week supervised program. The intervention consisted of progressi

An Educational Initiative Describing Clinician Teachers' Experiences Following Serious Illness Communication Skills Faculty Development Training.

BACKGROUND: Serious illness communication skills (SICS) are essential competencies for clinicians to possess. Unfortunately, SICS teaching is not routinely taught and many clinician teachers (CTs) never received training on how to teach them. We funded two cohorts of CTs to learn an evidence-based approach to SICS teaching to scale a unified approach to such training. OBJECTIVE: The primary aim of this study was to explore CT experiences and attitudes toward SICS teaching following completion of VitalTalk Faculty Development training. Our secondary aim was to identify perceived barriers and e
