Fifty-five patients with bone lesions underwent 201Tl-chloride (201TlCl) scintigraphy to evaluate its findings and usefulness for the diagnosis of bone metastases. 201TlCl scintigraphy was performed 15 minutes (early scan) and 2 hours (delayed scan) after intravenous administration of 5.55 MBq/kg of 201Tl-chloride. To evaluate the degree of tracer retention at the lesions, we calculated retention index after setting regions of interest in each lesions demonstrated tracer uptake in both early and delayed scans. In order to study the scintigraphic findings related to the pathophysiology of pulmonary aspergilloma, chest scintigraphy with T1-201 chloride and perfusion lung scintigraphy were performed in 18 and 19 patients with pulmonary aspergilloma, respectively. We propose an efficient method to suppress inferior wall attenuation in 201TI 180 degrees myocardial tomography. We systematically performed redistribution studies in both supine and prone decubitus, assuming that the latter should result in shifting with respect to each other's cardiac structures and diaphragm as well as subphrenic organs possibly responsible for attenuation. Solitary parathyroid adenoma is the most common cause of primary hyperparathyroidism. It can be removed surgically with a 92-96% success rate without any pre-operative imaging procedures. However, imaging procedures may be of help in localization, thereby reducing operative morbidity, and in the detection of ectopic adenomas. The decision to undertake surgical exploration should not be based on these procedures because of their low sensitivity and limited specificity when used alone, but rather on an established biochemical diagnosis of hyperparathyroidism.

Primary hyperparathyroidism is the most frequent parathyroid disease. A 6-year-old female with an anomalous left coronary artery (ALCA) originating from the main pulmonary artery underwent a resting Tl-201 SPECT examination before and after surgical reimplantation. Preoperative Tl-201 SPECT images demonstrated decreased perfusion to the anterior wall and a dilated left ventricle. Studies were undertaken to determine the biologic distribution of thallium-201 in man. The disappearance from the blood is extremely rapid and intracellular deposition is nearly immediate. The biologic half-time of thallium was measured by both the Brookhaven whole-body counter and the Donner whole-body scanner, with excellent agreement. The effective whole-body half-time of thallium-201 is about 57 hr. Concentration of activity was seen in the heart, kidneys, large bowel, and thyroid. The whole-body radiation dose is 0.21 rads/mCi.
