ThermalGate-GS: Frequency-Gated Graph Splatting for Thermal Novel View Synthesis.

Thermal infrared imaging is pivotal for all-weather 3D perception, yet analyzing thermal information remains a formidable challenge due to the complexity of heat conduction. Unlike visible light, heat conduction acts as a natural low-pass filter that suppresses high-frequency textural details, causing severe geometric ambiguities and "ghosting" artifacts in standard 3D reconstruction pipelines. To accurately model the inherently diffusive thermal field for high-fidelity reconstruction, we propose Frequency-Gated Graph Splatting (ThermalGate-GS), a framework that explicitly decouples the scene

High-entropy thermal-stiffening hydrogels with fast switching dynamics.

Thermal-stiffening hydrogels exhibit a dramatic soft-to-stiff transition upon heating, making them ideal candidates for temperature-triggered self-protection and shape memory applications. However, their practical use is still hampered by a slow recovery process (generally >30 min) during cooling, attributed to sluggish mass diffusion and delayed phase dissolution. Herein, we present a high-entropy phase separation design to significantly accelerate the recovery dynamics of these materials. We demonstrate this concept using a thermal-stiffening poly(calcium acrylate)-based copolymer hydrogel b

Study on the motion law of aerosols produced by human respiration under the action of thermal plume of different intensities.

Predicting influence of human thermal plume on the diffusion of respiration-produced particles is an important issue for improving indoor air quality through eliminating infectious microbes efficiently. In this study, the Large Eddy Simulation was utilized to predict the effects of thermal plume of different intensities on particle diffusion. Three postures of the human body model and three room temperatures were considered. The results show that the convective heat transfer coefficient on the surface of the human body varies greatly with different postures. The coefficient is the largest when

Computational analysis of shear dependent heat and mass transfer in MHD hybrid nanofluid within a porous medium.

This work numerically investigates enhanced thermal and mass diffusion in an ionized hybrid nanofluid flowing through a permeable medium. The model incorporates modified formulations of thermal and molecular diffusion to address the limitations of their classical counterparts, accounting for non-local and relaxation effects in heat and mass transfer. The hybrid nanofluid consists of copper (Cu) and alumina (Al2O3) nanoparticles dispersed in a propylene glycol base fluid. The formulation uniquely combines several advanced mechanisms: shear-dependent diffusivities, ion-slip current and Hall effe

Ab initio machine-learning unveils strong anharmonicity in non-Arrhenius self-diffusion of tungsten.

The knowledge of diffusion mechanisms in materials is crucial for predicting their high-temperature performance and stability, yet accurately capturing the underlying physics like thermal effects remains challenging. In particular, the origin of the experimentally observed non-Arrhenius diffusion behavior has remained elusive, largely due to the lack of effective computational tools. Here we propose an efficient ab initio framework to compute the Gibbs energy of the transition state in vacancy-mediated diffusion including the relevant thermal excitations at the density-functional-theory level.

Effect of intra-arterial papaverine on regional cerebral blood flow in hemodynamically relevant cerebral vasospasm.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: It remains controversial whether the intra-arterial administration of papaverine (IAP) is effective in reversing vasospasm-associated cerebral hypoperfusion after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. The aim of the present study was to continuously assess regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) during and after IAP with the use of quantitative, bedside thermal diffusion flowmetry. METHODS: Eight patients with cerebral vasospasm after subarachnoid hemorrhage (mean flow velocity >120 cm/s; angiographic vessel constriction >33%; hemispheric cerebral blood flow [CBF] <32 mL/100

Dynamic quantitative assessment of cortical blood flow.

Dynamic real time quantitative assessment of cortical blood flow is feasible with a thermal diffusion flow probe. The probe consists of a Peltier stack that creates a thermal gradient. The thermal gradient has been calibrated against Xe133 clearance for fast flow. Rapid changes in flow induced with pharmacologic agents, changes in perfusion pressure, or vascular manipulation are readily apparent. This technique is useful for intraoperative assessment of cortical blood flow and may prove useful in postoperative monitoring.

Anchoring phase change interface enhances solar thermal energy storage.

Solar thermal energy storage based on phase change materials (PCMs) provides a compact, near-isothermal pathway toward decarbonizing thermal energy supplies. However, the intrinsic recession of the solid-liquid interface away from the irradiated surface leads to gradually increasing thermal resistance and decaying charging rate with time. To address this challenge, we demonstrate that anchoring the phase change interface achieves rapid, efficient, and continuous solar thermal charging. This is enabled by dynamically circulating photothermal core-shell composite phase change particles (CPCPs) t

Stochastic Graph Heat Modelling for Diffusion-based Connectivity Retrieval.

Heat diffusion describes the process by which heat flows from areas with higher temperatures to ones with lower temperatures. This concept was previously adapted to graph structures, whereby heat flows between nodes of a graph depending on the graph topology. Here, we combine the graph heat equation with the stochastic heat equation, which ultimately yields a model for multivariate time signals on a graph. We show theoretically how the model can be used to directly compute the diffusion-based connectivity structure from multivariate signals. Unlike other connectivity measures, our heat model-b

The Thermophysical and Physicochemical Properties of the Aqueous Dispersion of Graphene Oxide Dual-Beam Thermal Lens Spectrometry.

Modern heat-conducting materials require special attention to analyze their thermophysical properties. Compared to classical methods, thermal lens spectrometry (TLS) has advantages due to its high sensitivity to physical and chemical composition. To avoid a systematic error in the analysis of complex systems, it is necessary to realize the limits of the applicability of the method. This study considers the features of thermal-diffusivity measurements by TLS in the stationary state for dispersed systems with absorbances up to 0.05. The limits of applicability of the method in analyzing heteroge

Black-hole-inspired thermal trapping with graded heat-conduction metadevices.

The curved space-time produced by black holes leads to the intriguing trapping effect. So far, metadevices have enabled analogous black holes to trap light or sound in laboratory spacetime. However, trapping heat in a conductive environment is still challenging because diffusive behaviors are directionless. Inspired by black holes, we construct graded heat-conduction metadevices to achieve thermal trapping, resorting to the imitated advection produced by graded thermal conductivities rather than the trivial solution of using insulation materials to confine thermal diffusion. We experimentally

Diffusing Heat: Generative Scan Path Optimization for Laser Powder Bed Fusion.

Island scanning is widely adopted in Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) to mitigate residual stress and distortion. The global visiting order of islands still governs the layer-wise thermal history. Existing geometric heuristics are efficient but largely ignore history-dependent heat accumulation on irregular topologies, while physics-driven global optimization requires repeated thermal evaluation and is typically computationally expensive for online planning. We present Diffusing Heat, a diffusion-model-based planner that generates heat-aware island sequences for complex layer geometries. We firs

Suppressing Electrode Diffusion With a PMMA Metal-Capture Mesh Enables Stable Conventional Organic Photovoltaics.

Conventional organic photovoltaics (OPVs) often suffer from premature failure because top-electrode metals diffuse into the organic stack under thermal stress, generating interfacial traps and leakage pathways. Here, we identify severe aging-driven Ag diffusion as a critical failure pathway in high-efficiency conventional architectures. To suppress this without compromising charge extraction, we introduce polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) that self-assembles into a discontinuous, mesh-like network on the PDINN layer, functioning as both a physical diffusion barrier and a chemical metal-capture me

The Effect of p-Toluenesulfonic Acid and Phosphoric Acid (V) Content on the Heat Resistance and Thermal Properties of Phenol Resin and Phenol-Carbon Composite.

This work presents the results of research on the influence of the amount of p-toluenesulfonic acid and phosphoric acid (V) added to the phenol-formaldehyde resin (pH 7.3-7.8) on its thermal properties and on the phenol-formaldehyde-carbon composite produced on its basis. This material undergoes pyrolysis under high temperature. The addition of a catalyst to the phenol-formaldehyde resin affects its curing rate and degree of cross-linking, but how it affects the thermal properties of the resin depending on the temperature is the subject of this work. This article presents the results of therma

Characterization of Temperature Profiles in Skin and Transdermal Delivery System When Exposed to Temperature Gradients In Vivo and In Vitro.

PURPOSE: Performance of a transdermal delivery system (TDS) can be affected by exposure to elevated temperature, which can lead to unintended safety issues. This study investigated TDS and skin temperatures and their relationship in vivo, characterized the effective thermal resistance of skin, and identified the in vitro diffusion cell conditions that would correlate with in vivo observations. METHODS: Experiments were performed in humans and in Franz diffusion cells with human cadaver skin to record skin and TDS temperatures at room temperature and with exposure to a heat flux. Skin temperat

Hollow NiCo-LDH Nanocage Derived From ZIF-67 as an Efficient Catalyst for the Thermal Decomposition of Ammonium Perchlorate.

Heterogeneous catalysis achieves efficient thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP) by creating abundant catalytically active sites and optimizing mass transfer and diffusion processes. Based on this, hollow nickel-cobalt-layered double hydroxide (H-NiCo-LDH) nanocages derived from metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) were successfully synthesized using an etching-deposition-growth strategy. The hollow structure and surface mesopores of H-NiCo-LDH not only expose more abundant catalytically active sites but also enhance the mass transfer and diffusion efficiency of gas-phase intermediate

Thermal stability of PMMA-LDH nanocomposites: decoupling the physical barrier, radical trapping, and charring contributions using XAS/WAXS/Raman time-resolved experiments.

In-depth understanding of the thermal stability of polymer-clay nanocomposites requires the use of advanced time-resolved techniques combined with multivariate data analysis, as well as the preparation of layered nanofillers with well-defined composition. The layered double hydroxide (LDH) compounds Zn2Al(OH)6·nH2O, Zn2Al0.75Fe0.25(OH)6·nH2O, ZnCuAl(OH)6·nH2O, and ZnCuAl0.5Fe0.5(OH)6·nH2O were prepared, each designed to specifically identify the physical barrier, radical trapping, and char formation contributions to the thermal stability of the PMMA-LDH nanocomposites. Microsecond-pulsed nanocalorimetry: a scalable approach for ultrasensitive heat capacity measurements.

We introduce a nanocalorimetric technique based on microsecond-pulsed heating (µs-PHnC) that enables high-sensitivity, quasi-isothermal heat capacity measurements on nanoscale samples. Such resolution is critical for exploring thermodynamic signatures in low-dimensional materials, where conventional techniques fall short. By confining thermal excitation to microsecond timescales, this approach minimizes lateral heat diffusion, reduces heat capacity addenda to below 10⁻⁹ J K-1, and achieves noise densities as low as 75 pJ K⁻¹ √Hz mm⁻², unlocking precise thermodynamic characterization of subnano

Observation of size-dependent thermalization in CdSe nanocrystals using time-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy.

We report heat dissipation times in semiconductor nanocrystals of CdSe. Specifically, a previously unresolved, subnanosecond decay component in the low-temperature photoluminescence decay dynamics exhibits longer decay lifetimes (tens to hundreds of picoseconds) for larger nanocrystals as well as a size-independent, ~25-meV spectral shift. We attribute the fast relaxation to transient phonon-mediated relaxation arising from nonequilibrium acoustic phonons. Following acoustic phonon dissipation, the dark exciton state recombines more slowly via LO-phonon assistance resulting in the observed spe
