We have described a patient with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease who showed disappearance of sleep apnea by tracheal intubation. All night polygraphic study revealed a clear correlation between the cyclic EEG change and sleep apnea. The periodic synchronous discharge (PSD) phase in EEG corresponded to the breathing phase in respiration and non-PSD phase corresponded to the apneic phase. Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD) rarely involves the trachea, and active pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) has not been reported with tracheal RDD. A 35-year-old woman presented with progressive cough, wheezing, and shortness of breath for 1 month. Fluorescence anisotropy was assessed in tracheal and oropharyngeal aspirates to evaluate its use in the diagnosis of respiratory distress syndrome. Samples from 31 neonates at birth were purified by using Sephacryl S-300 column chromatography. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of a transoral tracheal wash (TOTW) on respiratory mechanics in dogs and to describe the use of a critical care ventilator (CCV) to determine respiratory mechanics. Changes in intrathoracic tracheal dimensions and shape in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are commonly noted, but the cause is not clear.
