Syringocystadenoma Papilliferum of the External Auditory Canal.

BACKGROUND Ceruminous glands are modified apocrine glands, situated in the external auditory canal, that, together with sebaceous glands, produce cerumen, better known as ear wax. The neoplastic transformation of these structures is very rare and there have been few cases reported in the literature. CASE REPORT Syringocystadenoma papilliferum is one of the rarest tumors among benign tumors arising from the ceruminous glands. We here report the case of a 72-year-old man with a lesion histologically documented as a syringocystadenoma papilliferum and we review the literature, focusing our attent

Syringocystadenocarcinoma of the perianal region: a case report.

INTRODUCTION: Syringocystadenocarcinoma papilliferum is an extremely rare malignant adnexal tumor that typically arises from a papilliferous syringocystadenoma (World Health Organization classification of skin tumors, 2018.). This tumor predominantly occurs in the cephalic region. CASE PRESENTATION: We present the case of a 68-year-old Moroccan male with no significant medical history who presented with a slowly progressing skin mass in the perianal region. Despite the chronic nature of the swelling, the patient remained in overall good health. Physical examination revealed a firm 2.3-cm mass

Syringocystadenoma papilliferum of the scalp.

Syringocystadenoma papilliferum is a rare, benign adnexal tumor of eccrine or apocrine origin that typically presents at birth or before puberty. Syringocystadenoma papilliferum is associated with a nevus sebaceus in about 40% of cases. We present a 50-year old woman with a pink-orange plaque and nodule on the scalp, consistent with syringocystadenoma papilliferum that arose within a nevus sebaceus.

Cutaneous apocrine-derived eyelid lesions: a series.

Eyelid lesions with apocrine differentiation are uncommon. A retrospective review of 1,920 biopsied sweat gland lesions at a tertiary hospital's ocular pathology laboratory from 2006 to 2024 revealed seven unique cutaneous eyelid tumors with sweat gland apocrine differentiation. The distinct clinical presentation and histopathologic features of the selected eyelid tumors are described. The lesions were further differentiated based on immunohistochemical analysis. Seven patients were identified with enlarging unilateral eyelid sweat gland lesions. All lesions underwent excisional biopsy and dem

[Anogenital mammary-like glands and related diseases. Part 2. Malignant tumors of the anogenital glands].

Mammary-like glands are a normal anatomical component of the anogenital region and can give rise to many benign and malignant tumors that morphologically mimic the similar diseases of the breast. The literature review is complemented by a description of 199 cases of malignant tumors of mammary-like glands. The paper presents the clinical and morphological characteristics of various malignant tumors of mammary-like glands, including extramammary Paget's disease, ductal, tubulolobular, adenoid cystic adenocarcinoma, low-grade phyllodes tumor, etc.

Hidradenoma papilliferum of the hymen: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Hidradenoma papilliferum is a rare benign neoplasm arising from apocrine glands. It occurs commonly on the anogenital region of middle-aged women. It usually presents as a slow growing, solitary asymptomatic, skin colored or red nodule less than 1 cm in diameter. CASE PRESENTATION: The case is a 38-year-old, white woman who presented with a painful nodule occurring within a month in the himenal region of the posterior vaginal introitus. The nodule was excisied and the histology revealed a hidradenoma papilliferum. The diagnosis and treatment of hidradenoma papilliferum is possible

Syringocystadenoma Papilliferum Revealed 12 Years After Surgical Treatment of Chronic Ear with Cholesteatoma: Presentation of an Unusual Case and Literature Review.

Syringocystadenoma papilliferum is a rare hamartomatous adnexal tumor and appears mainly in the head and neck region. Rarely, such tumors may appear in the external auditory canal. There are only 14 described cases of the syringocystadenoma papilliferum in the external auditory canal in the Medline database. In this study, we present the first reported case of syringocystadenoma papilliferum arising in the modified radical mastoidectomy and occurring 12 years after ear surgery. A 26-year-old man was admitted to our clinic with complaints of discharge from the left ear, ear fullness, and hearin

Syringocystadenoma Papilliferum in the External Ear Canal.

Out of all benign tumors of the ceruminous glands, syringocystadenoma papilliferum is the rarest and represents only 2% of cases. It is an extremely rare benign tumor that originates from modified apocrine sweat glands. The aim of this paper was to present, according to our findings, the 18th case of syringocystadenoma papilliferum in the external auditory canal, with a detailed review of its clinical, radiological and histomorphological characteristics. A 59-year-old man reported to our clinic due to a 5×5 mm papillomatous growth at the entrance to the right external auditory canal. Histopath

A rare case of syringocystadenocarcinoma papilliferum of the breast: An institutional retrospective case review and brief literature review.

Syringocystadenocarcinoma papilliferum (SCACP) is a rare cutaneous adnexal tumor thought to originate from its benign counterpart, syringocystadenoma papilliferum. These tumors are predominantly located on the head and neck with their location on the breast extraordinarily reported; mammary localization poses a great diagnostic dilemma to the practicing pathologist. Herein, we report an unusual case of an 85-year-old woman with an outside diagnosis on a core needle biopsy of metaplastic mammary carcinoma. Upon consultative review of the partial mastectomy specimen, SCACP was identified. Herein

Nevus Sebaceous of the Scalp With Stepwise Progression Into Invasive Syringocystadenocarcinoma Papilliferum.

Syringocystadenocarcinoma papilliferum (SCACP), the malignant counterpart of syringocystadenoma papilliferum (SCAP), is an extremely rare malignant adnexal neoplasm. It is described by the World Health Organization as a malignant transformation of SCAP occurring in middle-aged to elderly individuals with a predilection for the head and neck. SCACP seems to arise from a long-standing syringocystadenoma probably on a background of nevus sebaceous (NS) through a multistep progression. A 75-year-old man was referred to our department with a long-standing NS with a recent newly developing nodule on

Tubular Apocrine Adenoma with Uncertain Malignant Findings: Report of a Case and Review of the Literature.

INTRODUCTION: Tubular apocrine adenoma (TAA) is a rare sweat gland tumor, usually presenting as a well-defined, red to brown nodule on the scalp. Generally, TAA is considered as benign tumor; however, it may be difficult to differentiate TAA from metastatic or primary carcinoma. CASE PRESENTATION: A woman in her 90s presented with a pale red nodule on her right posterior auricle for 3 years. Histology showed several tubular structures contained two layers in the dermis. These showed decapitation secretion. At the periphery of the lesion, squamoid tumor cells formed nest-like patterns. Some sq

Ancillary immunohistochemical and molecular testing in the classification of cutaneous sweat gland/duct neoplasms: A validation study with emphasis on histomorphologic correlation and pathological diagnosis.

Sweat gland neoplasms represent a challenging area of dermatopathology, as they are relatively uncommon and often histopathologically complex. Recent studies have uncovered distinct immunohistochemical and molecular profiles in several sweat gland neoplasms, including digital papillary adenocarcinoma (DPA), papillary eccrine adenoma/tubular apocrine adenoma (PEA/TAA), poroid family tumors (PFT)/porocarcinoma, and clear cell hidradenoma (CCH)/clear cell hidradenocarcinoma (CCHCa). To further evaluate the diagnostic utility of ancillary studies in various sweat gland neoplasms, we performed an i

Eyelid syringocystadenoma papilliferum: A novel presentation with major review.

A major review of the literature of syringocystadenoma papilliferum's (SCAP's) presentation and management is presented. In addition, a case report of this unique diagnosis presenting as a corneal abrasion in a 66-year-old-male is included. This benign adnexal tumor of the apocrine glands is most commonly found in the face and neck. When found on the eyelids, these lesions are commonly misdiagnosed as basal cell carcinoma or cysts. Diagnosis is made based on histopathology. Treatment is complete excision of the lesion and this has a low recurrence rate. While predominantly benign, there have b
